Twilight's rush to stop Starlight Glimmer meant that she never tried to do much more with her friends in their other incarnations than query them for information. Granted, they weren't exactly HER friends in their alternate timelines, were all rather busy with various tasks, and weren't prepared for dropping into Cloudsdale unannounced. Still, there lingers the curiosity - as the spellcaster, Twilight was free to drop into multiple timelines, even if there may have been an other version of herself... somewhere (supported by the vision of Twilight Sparkle failing her magic test without a rainboom to spark it). How might things have gone if she'd taken on guests from other worlds - would they cease to be when the timeline was corrected at the end, or would there have been additional counterparts left orphaned in a world unfamiliar to them?
Merely speculation, Twilight wouldn't force that on any pony, and riders who didn't know her history might have caused even more disruption in the past.

The changelings are ever something of an enigma. Not so much the danger they represent, but rather where they come from in the world; how they manage day to day. Equestria represents quite a rich bounty for them, but thus far they haven't taken it for themselves - in the main timeline, that is. They aren't unfamiliar foes, though, even when they attacked at Canterlot. Clearly there have been some past interactions. That they have a working knowledge of pony culture shouldn't be surprising, of course; they are preeminent infiltrators. With all that understanding, however, it's a wonder they don't simply hide out and get their love fix that way.
Perhaps Chrysalis just wants to be in charge of it all.

Cutie marks are occasionally altered by magic, but how do they work when circumstances are drastically changed? The Cutie Mark Crusaders found their own marks figuring out suitable interpretations that the owners hadn't really considered, and the mess with Star Swirl's incomplete spell had the affected ponies not really fitting the roles they presumed their marks prescribed for them. So despite the circumstances marks generally appear in, they don't dictate a single path. It's something that might be hard to compare notes on, though - most ponies seem comfortable in the roles they find, so one might need to be able to see alternate timelines to really track how differently a single mark describes the same pony.With spells on time travel and cutie marks, was Star Swirl looking into this kind of research?
