What's up with all the hate the 5.7 gets? It's a fun little pistol that's easy to shoot accurately, it looks great, and it's reliable.

There is a law against .50 calibre weapons, both rifle and handgun, and handguns can only be acquired after 6 months membership in a gun club, and must offer practice in desired calibre.
Both with the competition rifles and the handguns, you must be active member, or the police can decree you must either sell them or render them useless.
So, how do we compare to the state of California?
The fact that you have required lisencing and active member ship in a "club" already makes you worse. Sure you can have higher capacity magazines, but so do a lot of people in CA. They just don't tell the government.
Also there is no pre approved list of rifles. Only a ban on generic traits of "assault rifles" that people have mostly figured out how to get around.
We are also allowed to have handguns. Not a lot because they made a list that arbitrarily deemed some handguns "more dangerous" for fuck all reasons. But you can still get them and without too much hassle compared to most European countries.
Tie in the fact that the 80% lower craze is pretty strong in CA and you'll find that you can enjoy guns fairly well here. But you walk the thin line of being ass raped by the CA DOJ anytime a new salt weapons ban passes our state legislature.

A 16 inch barrel Mossberg 590a1 is considered a hunting shotgun.
Open carry/CC on the other hand is hard as fuck.

Who cares if it makes you look like a pussy? Plenty of people have died after taking a punch and falling wrong. I'm not going to stand around and take a beating to look macho.
For road rage, I'd stay in my car and try to drive away if possible. If that wasn't possible, I'd still try to stay in my car, or get back in it if I had exited (for example, if I didn't expect an attack and was trying to exchange insurance information). Firearm as a last resort.

CCW permits are only issued to people with a lot of political pull, such as politicians, judges, etc.
(and security guards etc, but only for use while on duty)
I'm allowed to shoot intruders into my house which mean me (or someone else) serious bodily harm. But I'd have to get my guns out of my safe & load it (since has to be stored unloaded), as a result, it's rather unlikely that I'd get to my guns in time.
