This may be a better question for /his/ but did any footsoldier in history actually ever use a two handed sword for pitched battles? (ie not single combat) It seems like there is no advantage over a spear/shield or sword/shield, as it's much harder to defend yourself and you don't have anything to stop projectiles. Why are they a thing today?
basically, ( to my understanding, of course) most swords in Europe were designed to be used as one hand swords, but also as two handed swords. If you really had to smack someone, use both hands.
Dedicated two handed swords however? not sure. It would be easier to cleave through armor with a massive two hand broadsword than a one handed blade tho.

What would happen to you if you walked into a warzone as a PMC/Merc and you came across U.S military forces or any foreign military force for that matter that you particularly side with? Or you went to some third world shit hole and instead of being a "volunteer" for their army couldn't you just jump in as a PMC/merc? Why do you need to be part of a company to operate?

I'm trying to research suppressed firearms for home defense on my own, but I keep finding two things totally at odds.
First I'll read about how it's such a great idea to use suppressed+subsonic for all the obvious reasons, then I'll read about how subsonic ammo... is terrible for home defense?
Still looking into it myself, just wondering what /k/'s thoughts are.

If you're gonna go suppressed for HD build an 8 inch SBR in .300 blk and suppress that. Otherwise stick with 75gr Hornady TAP.

If you want to operate operationally with a suppressed weapon you need subsonic.
If you're just trying to avoid getting the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE from firing a few shots in self defense, don't bother reducing your firepower.
So, I know .22LR is a pretty shitty defensive round, but what about .22 Mag out of something like pic related or similar?
Would running it with Hornadys make for a decent defensive carbine?
I have better funs with better rounds, but I'm curious what you guys think.

i use weaver for target shooting, always have. learned to shoot w/ long guns so it was natural to have a slightly canted stance
