I got this Remington 870 Wingmaster 12ga for free today, and it has some surface rust on the receiver and barrel that I need to clean off. I've never had to clean rust off a gun before because I've never let my firearms get rusty in the first place, so I'm not sure how to do it properly without damaging the finish. I watched a video on YouTube by Bownells and it suggested just using Hoppes No. 9 solvent on a rag and wiping it off, however the rust on my gun looks more significant than the little bit that was shown in the video.
What cleaner do you anons recommend for cleaning this amount of rust off, and do you use a normal gun rag or is something like steel wool required?

I noticed during disassembly that there was no spring in the magazine tube. Do any anons own one of these and know if it's missing or does it just not have a spring?

So Missouri's congress sent a bill to our governor today, that was to enact a stand your ground law with no duty to retreat and the ability to carry a concealed weapon with no permit.

Finally hasguns edition
Just bought my first piece, /k/. After roughly a year of lurking, I am finally a hasguns. Paid $230 for this Russian SKS from 1954. How'd I do?
Other than the stock being kinda fucked in a few places from the cosmo and general dings and scratches, the rifle appears to be in excellent condition (to the best of my knowledge). The only serial number that doesn't match the rest is the magazine, but that's ok because I intend on getting a different one anyways. It has a "AT" as the first two characters in the serial number, wondering if anyone knows what factory made it?

How would our modern world feel if we were to experience the civilian constraints of a total war? Or rather, suppose there was somehow a total war which did not go nuclear and devastated the world economy and shipping and air trade, reducing the amount of supplies we could import.
How would we ration food, civilian items, and luxury today? Would the internet and television be censored in the same way we taught everyone "loose lips sink ships"? Would we use "point cards" similar to credit cards to ensure every person can only buy an supply of food rich or poor.
The US is so stupidly rich at this point that it would take a nuclear war or Yellowstone erupting for that to be an issue.

A person who's shot a bunch of rounds inside of a school hallway with foamies in at the very most is pretty easy to sneak up on and stab in the throat. Most mass shooters are pretty shit tactically.
We all know full auto fire is meant for suppressing targets and it's not like in the movies where you see people spray accurately but would full auto be good for a self defense situation?

If you've practiced FA control, and whatever/whomever your target is is within 30', and you don't Swiss cheese the fuck out of your house I'd imagine it would be
2 or 3-round burst may be more practical (if only marginally so)
