Post odd weapons.
This here is the Schwarzlose Model 1908, one of the only blow-forward pistols ever manufactured. It was used by various people in the German Empire - police and the like - but didn't have much of a storied career before it became apparent there were much better ways of doing things.
An earlier Schwarzlose, the M1898 semi-automatic. This one is much more sensible than the M1908, being chambered in 7.62mm Mauser and using a short-recoil rotating bolt. A single spring performed the duties of primary recoil spring, striker spring, trigger spring, and extractor spring. However, Schwarzlose was not able to keep up with Borchardt or Mauser's economies of scale and this ingenious design was sidelined. Nevertheless, based Ian called it the best pre-1900 pistol he has encountered.
The Hungarian Frommer Stop, a long-recoil pistol designed by Rudolf Frommer, essentially because simpler ways of doing things had all been patented. The Frommer Stop served with the Hungarian Army in WWII.
The good old Schnellfeuer.

Hey /k/ we got in a argument over the legitimacy of duel welding in the old days.
As you can see there is solid proof that duel welding took place and even developed it's own martial arts. But the autists in /got/ disagree.
I was hoping you could educate them.

It was more talked about and discussed an a dueling practice. It's not something you'd see on a battle field but more of a "You've insulted my honor, choose your weapon." type duel. The treatises speak normally about what to do if your faced with a fight were your opponent picks two side swords or rapiers as opposed to the traditional sword and buckler/gauche/cape/fucking anything else than another fucking sword.
Tl;dr: not really its own art, most of these images took up a few plates...

>Lt. Gen. Jon Davis said the Marines’ next aviation plan would include upgrading all 79 C-130Js into Harvest Hawk-capable platforms. The Hercules Airborne Weapons Kit (HAWK) includes both modifications to the plane – the installation of a new MX-20 sensor ball with a laser designator on the nose of the plane, and the Intrepid Tiger electronic warfare pod – as well as a supply of Hellfire, Griffin and Viper Strike missiles for precision...

Yep that's USMC logic
>>29933136
Sounds reasonable to me; their tankers are C-130Js; this is just talking about adding some sensors, countermeasures and minor structural modification to the plane, allowing them to swap out the roll-on fuel tanks with roll-on missile / bomb pods.
Anyone here carry older guns? I'm thinking military handguns, mostly. Seems like there's nothing wrong with carrying an "antiquated" design if it feels modern enough and still works.

Plenty of people still carry 1911s, Browning HI powers, and all sorts of snub nose revolvers in .38, .32, and .357.
They still kill people.

How many of you have actually deployed and have seen combat?
Did you see friends get killed, do you know if you killed someone yourself? How do you feel about it today?

that's pretty cool bro, i wish i got a first kill. alas.
kind of wish the day when I kill someone never comes, as that would most likely mean that my country is at war and three guys out of my five-man team are dead or wounded & I'd be the one directing mortar- and/or artillery fire, if it came to that I'd probably end pretty messed up.
Hey /k/, I just got this australian Number 1 mkIII the other day and I'm hoping for some help identifying the markings. I know the Lithgow markings are all over it, but there are some others I haven't been able to find with my Google-fu. Will be bumping with pics

So you mean to tell me that if an innocent Bombadier CRJ1000 flying from Kansas to LAX goes over Area 51 by accident, they will get shot down by SAMs?
That's terrible.
>>29932790
No. They'll contact the pilot and insist he turn around the second he gets near their air space. They'll continue to tell him to divert course and probably send up a fighter escort. If they deem necessary the fighters will shoot it down if they fail to get ahold of the pilot or worse.
they'll try to contact it on the radio while f-16s intercept it, wave to the pilots, etc.
if it keeps flying into the restricted area and doesn't comply with instructions to follow the interceptors they may shoot it
>>29932790
Depends. If it's course looks threatening it'll probably get shot down. If it's just some guy in a Cessna that had a stroke and is dead stick they might let it fly through and crash later. I mean what's really at Area 51 that can be seen from the air anyway? Most of the test articles are probably in hangars during daylight hours.
Why did police stop using blackjacks and saps in favor of nightsticks and batons?
>>29932675
Range.
Explosive decompression.
They are to short and made to hit the head and stunning or incapacitate, that leads to police killing folks.
Night sticks and longer wooden or steel batons are for inflicting pain by hitting legs and arms.
Where do you draw the line on recoil?
For me, it was a .500 NE double rifle.
