They used to be your country's service rifle. They are quite good, and shoot a larger round than the newer rifles.

I bought some HST 200gr 10mm "bear loads" for my glock 29 and the gun malfunctioned 4 times over the course of 50 rounds. All either FTF or double feeds.
I know HST reccomends a 5 inch barrel for these loads, but the short G29 had zero issues with keyholeing.
Any idea why this ammo would have issues in the glock? The projectile is fat, but rounded.
For comparison, 170gr flat nose and 180gr sig hollow points all performed flawlessly (as one would expect with any glock).
Are some glocks just finicky about what ammunition they can take?

I know some of those bear loads use a significantly longer projectile than the 180gr stuff, so it could just be that the rounds are too long to feed reliably.
I've never shot a 10mm glock tho so I dunno about their feed ramps or whatever.
The fact that the round nose ammo was malfunctioning and the flat and hp stuff wasn't makes me think that the bear stuff you bought is just too long overall.

I was thinking at the range that maybe i was limpwristing it, but the recoil on the bear loads wasn't noticeably stronger than the 170 and 180 stuff. I even tried to get the 180 to FTF by purposely limping it with one hand and i couldn't get it to fail.
I'm an experienced shooter but that doesn't mean i wasn't being a little faggot at the range today. Maybe i'll run another box through the g29 and see what happens. I wish i had a friend with a g20 to compare.

The bear load is a longer overall package yes. the projectile sticks out far and is bulky as fuck on the edges.
Still though, i feel like if you have 10mm AUTO ammo, that it should run in any 10mm pistol, especially a glock. Maybe i'm wrong about that and there is some shit factory 10mm out there, because this stuff shot like someone's bad reloads.

I wanna do something like this. I have an svd scope I wanna throw on it, but I have no idea which rail would be optimal. I've been looking on Kalinka, but I really have no idea what to get, seeing as there is so many optios for the sks. I really don't want to use the wood as an anchor point, but it's looking like that's the best option.

Haha just take it to a gunsmith and ask to have it slapped on and what they can do to unfugg the barrel so the scope won't be for something.

Alright /k/ I'm buying a new classic eastern bloc pistol.

I was 12 when the LA riots happened. My parents had been nervous for weeks and my dad was friend with an LA deputy who forewarned us that "shit was started to stir up" and the be careful. When the rioting started my dad came home with a shotgun (we were previously an anti gun home) and we didn't leave the house for about a week an a half.
We also had a neighbor down the street who was Korean and took park in the roof guarding. He still tells stories about it.

Imagine that you live in the 16th century in a relatively dangerous area. You want to carry a sword to defend yourself with. You can't be bothered to carry around a large shield because of its inconvenience, however you may carry a buckler or a dagger. Greatswords are out of the question, however a longsword/bastard sword or anything of equal or shorter length is fine. The hilt can be whatever type you want.
You are solely concerned with effective self-defense and do not care about what looks "cool" or whatever. Your opponents would be likewise be expected to be equipped with longswords, one-handed cut-and-thrust swords, rapiers, daggers, buckler etc. Which weapon or weapon/off-hand combination would you choose?
Oh and no armor.

The problem with that being that the boundary between ok and not ok here is definitely on the fuzzy side.

While probably a good bit less black and white in general, this is something that should be considered for swords too. After all, you're going to be carrying whatever you choose all the bloody time, while actually using it is probably more of a once in a decade occasion.

If we're that oblivious to the whims of fashion and general opinions then this probably won't end well, being the strange guy around could easily have disastrous consequences in the legal aftermath of a self defence scenario.
Anyway, odds are that what's best isn't the question of the best sword, but the question of which sword you're the best with. (Sadly threads like these seem to exist mostly so fanboys can declare their option of choice the best ever, with justification going from none to deeply misguided.) So for me it'd be a longsword. A metre of blade, a foot of hilt, and at least side rings seems like a good idea if it wasn't for that whole carrying bit, though as I have no experience there it's rather hard to say just how much sword I'd be prepared to lug around. Or possibly something along similar line,s though with a slightly curved blade, I find that such brings about interesting options and slightly improved margins in some cases.
