In Yulin, a city in China, there are some people who like to eat dogs. In response, a bunch of white people got confused and showed up in NYC Chinatown to yell at old ladies shopping for lychee

Why do white people get so worked up about dogs being eaten on the other side of the world, that they feel the need to attack random people living thousands of miles away?

Please, let's keep this respectful. I am just curious about this point of view about a kind of food.

my rules are

1. are they torturing the animal? if not eat it.

2a. is it human? if not eat, if yes 2b

2b. has said human given their consent to be eaten?

Americans are just perplexed by the soulless savagery of Chinese people. They've been taught that all cultures are equal and all people are empathetic. When that view is shattered, it hurts their dumb brains.

Same reason why the sikh temple in Wisconsin got attacked

The majority of Americans don't have a passport and have trouble with the idea that a person who doesn't look like them could possibly be an actual human being

Why do all of these new age diets say rice (white or brown) is unhealthy when asians have some of the lowest obesity rates as well as longest life spans?

The fda is trying to get you to eat poisoned bread instead. However poisoned rice is common too.

What was school lunch like for you?

I remember I went to an elementary school in an affluent neighborhood. The lunch was incredible. Parents would volunteer to work in the cafeteria. I remember my favorite was spaghetti and meatballs. With incredibly good tasting massive meatballs. This was about 20 years ago. Then I moved to the ghetto and was served slop that looked like the picture until I graduated high school.

I always looked forward to the days we had chicken strips, mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit cocktail and a roll
>>
also I always enjoyed the thanksgiving lunch of turkey and dressing, the dressing was the star of the show
>>
>>7824679
Just decent, not bad

But I liked my elementary school.they let some kids volunteer in the kitchen, and you would get free lunch and out of class for an hour or so! Got my first girlfriend and kitchen experience that way.
Did anyone else have this option?

Just ate a 20-year-old pork chow mein MRE. Shit was good except it made my throat feel extra salty and the back of my tongue felt stringent. Taste and flavor were p great, though. What's your favorite MRE, /ck/?
86 posts and 12 images submitted.
>>
Cheese Tortellini, Chicken and Dumplings, and Beef Patty on Wheat Snack Bread are all really good.

The Veggie Omelette is as bad as everyone says.

That said, other countries like Canada and France have much better "MRE's"
>>
My favorite? Being qualified to work in the private sector, and going to a restaurant.
>>
Have only had the Chili, but it was damn good. Hated the strawberry "shake" that came with it, though.

/tg/ here. I mostly drink beer but lately have come to really enjoy wine. However, I don't know enough about it to pick wines I'll like. I really enjoy the flavor of red wines, but I don't like the weird bitter aftertaste they leave on my tongue and the back of my throat (not a problem I have with moscato). I also don't want wine that is too sweet, it makes me feel sick.

What wines would you suggest?

>>
>>7821498
Red wines would be hard, as you would normally chose between sweet and the sensation you're describing. I'd go for a dry rosé.
>>
>>7821498

some lighter, less tannic red wines

-pinot noir/burgundy
-gamay/beaujolais-style
-zinfandel
-grenache (or garnacha in spain)/chateauneuf du pape
-some malbecs

lambrusco is a cheap, slightly bubbly, and is good for summer.

avoid bordeaux style, old world syrah, barolo.
>>
>>7821498
Sounds like you'll love barbera

Also sickly sweet is a description of cheap sweet wine, it means the wine didn't have enough of the characteristics that balance out the sugar, such as acidity

Tomatoes and Onions = Sauce
Saute it up and drop it in
Nice Bolognese sauce you can have with types of pasta or something. If you buy sauce its loaded with sugars

Anyone know if there's any knockoff brands of Trix that still have the old colors and flavors?

Are San Marzano tomatoes a meme or is it really worth the extra money?

I must know because chef John swears by them but America's Test Kitchen took a big steaming dump on them and I don't know who to believe

Post ATK link.

I can usually tell the difference in a San Marzano tomato, so it's weird that ATK would have anything bad to say about something so popular.
