Rice and whatever meat is the cheapest.
>>
Eggs and tortillas probably

Once or twice a month I make a large amount of refried beans and rice to make burritos and quesadillas and shit (sometimes carnitas to). Other than that I like to keep things varied.

I have some macaroni and cheddar slices. If I cook the macaroni and chuck some cheddar in there with some milk and butter over the stove will I get creamy mac and cheesy goodness?

No, you'll get a greasy, gritty mess.
>>

>gritty
What? Do you know what cheese is?
>>
>>7810098
No, you milk is too thin for that. If you have sour cream, that would work. Heavy cream will work too, but you need to reduce it a bit first.

If you only have milk, you need to make a roux or add a bit of corn starch to thicken and keep it from separating.

With midsummer coming up in sweden i'm trying my best with boiling my new potatoes (färskpotatisen), but how the fuck do you get it evenly boiled without slicing up the potatoes in smaller parts? The size is so fucking uneven.

>>
Boil 'em until the largest one is cooked.

It's pretty hard to over-boil a potato, so the smaller one's aren't going to shrivel up or anything.
>>
are you asking how to defeat the laws of physics?
>>

Thanks, not used to boiling potatoes, more of a pasta guy.

Hey you fri/ck/ing fri/ck/s,

you buy cheese cut directly from the wheel, in front of your eyes. everything else is hot garbage, like your pic related.
>>
I'm sure it's pretty good for certain things, but one thing us Brits are often addicted to is good cheddar cheese.
>>
Tastes pretty good. No reason to be pretentious when you're just making some shitty tacos or something.

Eating shit out of a can doesn't count as post-apocalyptic role playing. At the very least prop your computer up on the cans while you spend half the day shitposting so that they might get heated up a few degrees above room temperature.

What's the general consensus on macaroni and cheese? I'm talking either stove top or baked macaroni. What's your favorite brands? How much have you eaten in one sitting?
11 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>

It's good. Baked is usually too dry unless it's baked just to brown a breadcrumb topping. Make your own from scratch, it's pretty simple. Premade usually doesn't taste good, it's either low quality processed cheese or they don't use enough cheese like in frozen ones.

Its a lazy, easy food with little to no nutritional value at its base.

I dont know, Ive eaten a box in one sitting? Who is this thread made for? I dont really know anyone past he age of 20 that makes Mac and Cheese really anymore.
>>
It's an amazingly efficient staple food. Dairy is a miracle of the universe, as are frozen peas.

If you buy boxed Mac and cheese I feel bad for you son

I....I don't understand. How can you fuck up making burgers? They're like one of the easiest things to make.
Tell us more. Are you worried about the burger patty itself? Are you undecided about toppings? What exactly are you worried about?

How come almost all Italian food in the USA uses the same sauce and cheese for each dish?
77 posts and 11 images submitted.
>>
>>7809136
Maybe because you always eat the same three italian dishes.
>>
>>7809147
Don't take the piss out of me bruv. If I go to my local Italian eatery there's several dishes that use the exact same sauce and melted cheese.
>>
>>7809147

You're not from the US.

Are pork steaks any good? I never eat it but it's on sale for $1.59 a pound, Swift "pork steaks". I might give it a go, how do I cook it?

I just rub some of this either side before putting it on the grill/pan. A little goes a long way though, since it's mostly salt. Hot pan or grill, flip once 2 minutes either side +/- due to thickness
>>
>>7809109
just make sure to cook it well done or you will get parasites
>>
>>7809386

Farm raised pork? Nah.

Just grill them like a normal steak OP, they're great. Usually kind of thin, so get the flame hot so you can get a nice crust.
