no its clear and sunny day here. it happens here and there sometimes. i once caught a glimpse of its origin. apparently a guy living across my home has some kind of device that sends out bright flashes towards my room. maybe he is taking photos or something.

I saw a ghost today. In my living room. My wife was at work and the kids were at school.
Pic is my living room. It's a really old flat above a tailor's shop. And has all the original floorboards, fireplace, etc. The year is carved in a piece of stone above my front door. 1722.
My kitten started to make strange growling noises and ran behind a cupboard (The one with the TV on it - on the right in my pic). All the doors were closed and I hadn't made a fire. It's an old fashioned fire so it takes a while to make. Wood, coal, whatever. It takes a while to get going and requires a bit of skill.
I just saw a vague image of a person walk right in front of me. It only lasted about 3 seconds. I didn't feel in danger as whatever it was just seemed to not know I was there. I had no guests in my home - just me and my kitten. It's my day off today and as I said, my family were out.
I've always been skeptical about ghost sightings as some hallucination or eyesight problems. But I swear, I saw one this afternoon. It's just after 5pm here. I saw it about 3pm. I'm in northern England in a small rural town.

You should talk to the tailor to see if anything weird has happened in his shop, and you should look up the history of the building your flat is in, do you have a town hall or somewhere town/village records would be kept?
Any recollections of what the ghost looked like at all? Like what it was wearing?

If we had to choose between heaven or hell there is no doubt that this plane of existence is hell. It is a lower dimension that we have to struggle through in order to get to the higher dimension of heaven.
When you incarnate onto this realm you have failed. You were at a higher state and your soul descended into this world. Babies cry when they are born because they are in complete disbelief that they are in this dense reality.
We are in a physical form and just living and breathing is suffering on our body. The Buddha's first noble truth, life is suffering. As soon as you are born into this world you begin to die. Everything is destruction, everything is burning. When we eat, we eat out of hell's kitchen. We eat food that is acidic and it burns away at our organs slowly killing us just to simply survive in this place. We develop diseases and parasites that eat away at our flesh. We have to eat other life in order to sustain ourselves. There is constant cycle of pain with nature killing itself in order to sustain itself. There is competition, fear and agony all around us, screaming for salvation.
There are higher places that you can ascend into and very few have reached them. I believe if you truly become enlightened then you can reach heaven. But don't fool yourself by believing you are in heaven when your mind is still clouded in thought. When enough people become Whole, then this realm could become heaven and nature itself will reflect our ascended state.

Regardless, I do tend to agree with you. Even for the luckiest and most successful people, suffering is still a very large part of their lives. Suffering is part of living in this world. Everything suffers in some way or another. Everyone dies. Life is really pretty short.
Pleasure is fleeting, pain lasts a long time.
Everything seems so damn precarious.
You can learn to live in a heavenly state but it requires such a loose yet tight dance that most fuck it up at some point.

To me there's nothing scarier than getting lost. Today I hit a dead end in the woods and couldn't find my way back. Shit was spooky as hell, I felt so disorientated and it was getting dark fast. I felt like someone was following me but it was probably nothing. Anyway I eventually found my out. Pretty lame story I know. Do you have any good stories about getting lost?

That's what really freaks people out when they're stranded. Modern man is more afraid of the dark than any other people ever have been. Our superstition basically works in overdrive because we can just run to the light when we feel spooked.

I always just retrace my steps to the last place where I knew where I was. I'm not lost so much as temporarily misplaced.
The thing is, if you're used to outsourcing your having to think (for any kind of task) to tech, and the tech drops the ball, you're fucked. Partly because you're in a bad situation, but more so because it's a kind of situation you don't know how to deal with being in.
You knew what forest you were in, you had some idea of how big it was, if you'd kept going in a straight line in any direction you should've come out of it somewhere. Then it's just a matter of following the edge of it back to where you entered.
This is also why the trinity of EDC is knife, multi-tool, flashlight. If you don't want to be caught without again, you need to start carrying a flashlight. Even just a little keychain one is better than nothing. A MagLite Solitaire or a Sapphire microlight.

It's actually my grandmother's house but since we're poorfags, there's a lot of people living there. Around 9 people in a 2 bedroom house with a basement room because the subdivision is sloped. So 2 bedrooms in the main house plus a 3rd room below. The lower area's door directly faces the gate.

The house has walls and has a big gate. To top it off, the walls have iron spikes on top of it curving both upwards and downwards for aesthetic purposes and to discourage thieves. There was no way someone could have gotten in or escaped without getting hurt or piercing themselves especially during dusk.
