Do you think it could be possible to make a non shit Sonic game in the style of an RPG?
Maybe some kinda action hybrid where battles play out like that Sonic Battle game.
Or heck, make it a turn based strategy game like Ogre Battle or Final Fantasy Tactics.
I know you can't really "go fast" in those kinda games, but that doesn't mean you couldn't put some kinda running mini game in or something.
