What's even worse is that this year's April Fools was "Oppai", which was basically gender swapped Uppers. The joke ad said it was about the Crimson Squad if they never became ninjas (Hikage was still in her gang, Homrua became a rogue merc, etc). It got Japan insanely angry because they liked the idea, but obviously it was a fake.

that one actually makes sense (from the localization point of view) - Shiki aimed to become "English ninja" in Jap original - so basically ninja speaking language other than the games language. And the VA speaking english is just sloppy localization - they didn't record new tracks and instead reused the ones from jap version

I actually really like EV. I think it is a legitimately good game. Shoot me.
At first I thought it felt less fluid than SV but now I am used to it and there is no way I could go back to SV.
There is a good amount of content in the game too. The story mode is pretty light hearted and fun with some occasional drama. And the girls hearts missions are on the whole really great (not all of them though).
I also like the new characters a lot, they were great additions to the cast and I want them all back again.

I found that once you level her up a bit she hits like an absolute truck. Just go frantic and charge square attacks constantly and use her arts. In her girls heart missions I didn't even get to hear the dialogue because I beat the levels before the girls could even transform.

It's slower than SV, some characters were nerfed and others like Hanabi and Yozakura just feel awful to play early on.
Customization is a step down from SK2 and, like SV, most outfits and accesories are dlc.
Some Girl's Heart missions are just rehashes from older ones.
On the good side, the diorama mode is great for pictures.
If you already like SK then you'll probably enjoy it anyway, but it does feel weaker in my opinion.

Of course there's a reason. How else would they sell stuff to you? EV has around $150 in DLC according to the JP PSN, while SK2 only had $15 or so of DLC. To compare:

IT license holders absolutely refused to let the characters be released in the west. If they weren't released, that would mean the JP version of the game could not play with US/EU copies if the JP player picked an IT character. In order to fix this, the reskins were added.
