The issue is that SK2 set people up to think that EV was going to be a huge improvement over SV. Look at how amazingly better SK2 is when compared to Burst. EV on the other hand feels like nothing more than an expansion pack for SV, what with adding basically nothing new but a few characters and a gimmick or two.
The worst part though about EV is that it has the least costumes (base, not DLC) of all SK games. SK2 and SV have more, and they're both considerably older than EV. Hell, EV only lets you use 5 hair colors per character, yet SK2 lets you use 15.

Pretty much. Sue me for wanting a SK game that actually is 100% serious and puts the fanservice to the side (as in, keeps it to side missions only). I want to see a SK game where the plot is serious and the Yoma are back and scarier than ever. Hell, Rin, Kiriya, Sayuri, and even Kurokage all have constantly reminded us that the life of a shinobi is a horrid existence, and it will end in a brutal death should the shinobi fail. Not once have we seen such a thing in the games, save for Burst's cyanide pills with the Crimson Squad (which was retconned anyway).

It's had different writers for every single game I believe. Takaki had initially stated the 3DS would have the "mainline" games that were serious, while the Vita would have the "spinoff" games that were fanservice oriented. However, a couple of things happened:
1.) Japan hated SK2 with a passion due to the lack of fanservice, the lack of Yumi, it being too hard, and some other things.
2.) Japan loved SV mostly due to Yumi being in it, along with the massive amounts of fanservice and minimal amounts of serious plot.
This led to Marvelous basically just going "fuck it" and focusing on fanservice to get more money. In other words, blame Japan for having shit taste.

Well, Hanabi is the lovable oaf of the sisters. Hell, she literally can't think to hard otherwise her head will explode. Kinda shit to play as since her giant hammer feels pretty inaccurate at times.
Kafuru is sorta the brains of the team. Obviously, the most smug Senran. She's kinda fun to play as but her only good attack is her Breach art since her main attacks don't feel like they're hitting shit.
Renka is hands down the best of the sisters. Outgoing personality, but also very fun to play as. Her attacks feel like they're doing something and her Ninja Arts are all pretty damn good.
Jasmine is obviously the hot-blooded GILF and pretty cool to play as but I don't like her Ultimate Ninja Art because you have to control the elephant so I always just stick wither her level 2 Ninja Art.
Haven't got a chance to play as Ryoki yet, but she looks like she'll be pretty fun to play as.

VD is bad from every review I've watched and read. It's something like EV but the camera is even more garbage, there's platforming sections everywhere, the enemies just do not attack at all even on the harder modes and even the bosses are hard pressed to do it, the fanservice is way tamer despite characters making out, every character is voiced by some SK equivalent and even their personalities are kinda the same, the framerate absolute shits itself constantly, and the big bosses only have like two attacks but have huge HP bars for no reason.

While I do like how the enemy AI actually gets more aggressive and uses new attacks against you on higher difficulties, it is still more of a stat-check than a skill-check, and it's pretty clear that the mission design had the easiest difficulty in mind. All those 3-on-1 boss fights are a fucking nightmare on the hardest difficulty, since they can just abuse invincibility frames and gank you in the middle of your parry animation. 1v1s and enemy hordes are great on that difficulty though.
