Why did the Lord-Ruler enslave and discriminate against the skaa? Seems unnecessary for his plan.

You roamed around the city, without a real purpose or destination. People seemed to not really mind you until you donned the necklace. Then they started giving you dirty looks.
What was it, was the necklace out of fashion? Was there something on your face?
Was the writing really lazy? You couldn’t tell.
You were almost annoyed at how invisible or otherwise shunned you were, until you felt what it was like to be noticed.
A man wearing strange clothes spotted you from the distance.
His eyes grew in size several times over, so much that the expression “Having eyes larger than the stomach” transcended the metaphorical to become literal.
Then he literally rushed at you, his arms wide open as in an embrace.
You dodged him at the last minute, causing him to crash on an innocent bystander.
“Sorry”, you coldly stated. “I am not the hug kind of guy”.
While the bystander was still on the ground, rubbing his head in pain, the guy you supposed to be the priest crawled to your feet and gripped your ankles tight.
“YES, YES!” he screamed, overjoyed. “20 years! 20 long years of fasting and praying I have endured, but now the Goddess pays it all back! HAH!” he rose to his feet again, just to point his admonishing index finger to the onlookers that had gathered around.
“HAH! CHECKMATE, ATHEISTS! There you go! Here is a real Outer! What now, huh? Will you still spout your nonsense?”
Most people just ignored his ramblings, some others seemed pissed off enough to prompt you to grab him by his robes to make him stop.
So now there you were, the Outer and the Priest, one in total amazement, another in total confusion.
Maybe it’s better to take advantage of the situation to the fullest.

As in?
I think I am missing the point.
You are a newly hatched Manticore barely 4 hours old, currently being scrubbed clean of eggwhites, blood and guts by squires of the so called peasant knights, Wide Arch. Your current demeanor is that of a sulky little girl which really doesn't suit you due to the fact that really are a mid twenties student, a male one at that, having been summoned to another world, the cliche is completed by the fact that you are inside a large and sprawling fantasy town with all manner of demi-humans running around and magic seemingly commonplace.
As two female squires keep dousing you in alternatively hot and cold water to rinse your skin, hair and fur, between intense scrubbing action, you briefly wonder if you'll revert to your old form if hit by the water..
After a good scrubbing you are assisted into a large heated wooden tub with hot water, normally you would have climbed up on your own, but your right arm is still hurts quite badly after being hit by an iceball the size of a football. You are pretty certain you could jump up and into the water, you seem to have gained extra ordinary physical abilities with your new form, and seemingly the instincts to use them properly too. Or fly for that matter, looking over each shoulder as you get assisted into the water you can't help but get exited by the idea of flying under your own power. But that does not matter right now, the water is as hot as you can tak ite and with a little time you are able to sit down and just soak, the fatigue of your first few minutes as a hatchling is setting in.

Barely a minute has passed since you finally found a comfortable position in the tub, your rear appendages makes it a bit awkward to sit against the edges, Gerwine the vice captain of the knights enters the small secluded outerlying area of the courtyard where you are taking a bath. Acting like a child might have been a good defence for protecting the fact that you are an outsider, but these knights seems to be fully aware of this and you figure it might be better to drop the act and start figuring out where you are and whats going on.
Gerwine approaches the bath and looks down on you
"Oh, your much cuter when you aren't drenched in blood, well.." she drags out and touches the fat leathery tail that is currently bobbing in the water.
"I dont think I have ever seen one of those outside a book before, Manticores are not a naturally occurring species"
"Then again those who summon outsiders illegally often try to find strong bodies to host the souls, tend to make more valuable slaves if they possess magick rather than knowledge. It's not unheard of creating artificial species for a summoning"
"Before we continue this little chat, first hold out your right hand for me, and secondly, are you ready to give me your name yet?"
"Alex.." you mutter slowly, slowly dropping the pouting faceGenderbender friendly name got chosen from last thread
As you hold out your arm you once again feel mana being manipulated, it flows from Gerwine into a small orb she is holding and out into your arm.

"Ahh, that feels nice"
"It does doesn't it, this is an state of the art fully contained healing device complete with bone setting, suturing, disinfection, accelerated healing and so on. The guild responsible for crafting these only make one every 6th year. And I am the only one trained in it's use amongst our knights" She seems awfully proud of herself, her nose is for some reason pointing upwards
"That's impressive, does that make you a priest? Or maybe a paladin considering you guys are knights?"
"No, i'm just a regular mage just like everyone else"
"Everyone else? Like all the knights?" That's awesome, you might be in the company of battlemages
"No, like everyone else, literally everyone else. Mana flows trough every living being and everyone who put their mind to it can use it, we are all mages"

Non-retarded English edition!
Peter Dickinson, the Great Denier, has come to defeat your BBEG through SCIENCE and LOGIC!
How does your BBEG fare?
Can he deny your setting's magic or Gods?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw9bny88OuY
>BBEG
No, thank you. I prefer to use the term "villain."
If you deny the tree, does the tree vanish?
If you refuse to acknowledge the sword in your bosom, are you immortal?
Truth does not heed the faith, or the empty follies, of mortals.
So too is it with the forces of the universe. Naming the interpretations of your observations has some power, as do all Names, but it's not going to make a dragon sit there and look at you like a retard for five minutes while you wave your academ-dick around. You'll just wind up as a digesting pedant.

When observations disagree match theory, theory has to be revised.
Peter is about to revise many of his theories.

Run a Bizarre Adventure?
Your name is David Coleman. You're nineteen years old, and until recently, you lived in a small suburb in New Jersey. A few months ago, however, things took a terrible turn, as your home was destroyed, and your family killed. Most believe it was a storm that caused the death and destruction, but you know better. You saw someone, or something, murder your family.
That's why you're travelling with Abe and Sarah.
They're a brother and sister, not much older than you, who lost their parents to the same thing a few years back. They've been hunting it ever since, and now you've joined them. The three of you have been travelling across the country, looking for any signs of the thing that killed your families, and fighting a host of things straight out of your nightmares along the way.
That's what you're doing now. The three of you are heading for a small town in Wisconsin, where a string of bizarre deaths occurred a month ago.
Abe is driving the 2005 Ford Focus you're all travelling in, while Sarah leans back in the passenger seat with her feet propped up on the dash. You sit in the back, with a few cases sitting next to you, filled with various weapons, charms, and pieces of ammunition.
A carjacker would be in for one hell of a surprise here.
>A. Ask about the case you're going to investigate
>B. Ask why the three of you are bothering with this instead of tracking down whatever killed your families
>C. Ask if you can stop and get something to eat

New Som quest? Interesting
So, as the title suggests, this is a practice thread for a quest I will begin running near the end of May.
Same set up as a lot of other quests, each update ends with options, and you get ten minutes to vote on them. In the event of a draw, I will either combine the options if I can, or simply have a tiebreaker vote.
Writeins are, of course, allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.
When it comes to investigating the paranormal in this quest, I'm going to assume that a lot of you anons are going to be googling things to figure out what you're dealing with. If you find some information, feel free to post it here, and I will devote an update to main character doing research and finding that information.
This is a thread to test the waters, and feedback is encouraged.
Hope everyone has fun

You are Mia Stitcher. After some cruel Adventurer’s attacked your home, you accepted a deal with a newly resurrected God. After getting your revenge, you’ve agreed to revive the other Old Gods and become their prophet.
You and your trio of Goblin Warriors are resting in the camp of the adventurer’s that you have just slaughtered. It was quick, and you had an arm blown off, but now you are healed and the sun is rising in the distance.
As the twilight starts to creep into the forest and a mist starts to rise from the mountains. The water is icy cold, but the forest air still has an unnatural warmth to it. You are further into the Green Wildes than anyone in your village has ever dared to before. Even some adventurer’s haven’t made it this far, being killed by their own stupidity or underestimating the dangers of the land.
One it is just light enough to see without torches or external lights, you awaken the Goblins. They were asleep in their armor, ready for a sneak attack or a rumble at a moment's notice. They roll of the furs and the food, mentioning how trophies like the bear skins, trivial in your world, were signs of great prestige in the Goblin caves.
You have been marching for over an hour, following the stream cautiously. The sun is now just starting to poke out and more of the local animal life seems to be waking up. Choruses of birds screech above the tree line as you descend deeper into the underbelly of the forest. Muggy and Thick, if your skin weren’t deadened and your lungs stopped, you would be very uncomfortable. But you hardly feel it, and the Goblins don’t seem to care. For such small creatures, they are miraculously durable.
Soon, you break through the trees and you stand at the foot of a massive pyramid. As you enter the clearing, you hear the sounds of fighting, metal clashing and arrows whizzing past. The whole area, hundreds of yards in a perfect circle around the base of the pyramid is smoking and black. Up at the pyramid, there are a group of roughly ten people of various races and professions fighting...something.
It looks like a dragon, except it is made out of stone. Animated rock given life and desperately curled around the top of the pyramid. Though it has wings, it doesn’t seem to be using them or it can’t. It has formed a barrier, and though you can see some of the Adventurers trying to scramble past it’s body, it refuses to allow anyone to get by.
Do you

It was a normal night for Caesar Madison as he plays a new video game, Blood of The Gods. And hot damn he was owning it and finally beat the long ass tutorial he did not totally skip at all.
After loving the demo so much hewas offered a chance to play a virtual reality edition of the game to his utter delight he agreed as he was connected and jacked into the game. Only unbeknownst to him, it would all become reality.

Hear ye, hear ye, I call to order another meeting of the Mage Guild.
On the agenda for today: someone keeps cursing the Warrior Guild's doorways with gender flipping spells. Every single time I have to go over there and dispel it all and apologize to their leader. It was funny the first time, I admit, but come on, we're supposed to be professionals here. At least include a spell to make them stop complaining about it so much.

Ask the Ork Freeboters. They got pretty big smuggling rings, so I imagine there's some modicum of quality control "Moi space drugs is best, so's I get mor teef!" type mentality.

How can you make social skills more useful in RPGs?
What if instead of rolling to see if what you've just said convinces someone or not, you roll a skill and are told what you should say, or the direction you should be taking the conversation to and things to look out for when speaking to a person? Almost exactly like a knowledge skill, only for talking with a given person. It would let players who aren't socially adept be able to play social characters as well as a martials.
>>46113325
Social skills don't need to be made more useful, in most cases.
If social skills aren't useful in your campaign, I can almost guarantee you that it's an issue with your GM, not with the system you're using.
Making it so a high skill means the GM gets to railroad you into the right response seems like a really shitty solution either way.
Personally, I'm fond of adapting the Apocalypse World 'Read a Person' rules.
Depending on how well you roll, you ask either one or three questions from the list:
• is your character telling the truth?
• what's your character really feeling?
• what does your character intend to do?
• what does your character wish I'd do?
• how could I get your character to __?
If you get the advance for it (basically a feat) and you roll very well, you can ask any three questions you want.
The GM tells you what that character is trying to get out of the situation and what their levers are, and you figure out how to pull them in-character.

There is a perk like that in Shadowrun. It's called common sense.
