What are you working on right now, GMs of /tg/? Post here for help, feedback, or just to show off how cool you are.

I want to make a dungeon the size of a city. How do I make this work without spending excessive amounts of time?

>Take your dice bag
>Roll it out on a large section of grid paper.
>Anything that comes up max, put a room there.
>Room are the size of the die that rolled it, a d6 makes a room containing 6 squares, a d20 makes a room of 20, etc.
>Repeat until you have enough rooms
>Connect

It's what I do for small to mid size dungeons. a city to me counts as a mid size dungeon.
>>

If you don't want to do the work yourself, there's quite a few dungeon generators for fantasy settings. I think a favorite is Donjon.

>announced a game set in 1920s, focused on mafia and prohibition
>every player in my group liked the concept and was interested in playing
>female player joins the group, wants to play female
>no idea how to include her into the story
help me out bros. Normally I would have no objections, but female gangster just doesen't fucking fit.

I have a problem /tg/.
I was considering running a cyberpunk game for some friends, and I came to a hard decision.

Is it more fun to be the bounty hunter, or the shadowrunner? Tank police or motorcycle crime squad?

Basically, which is better- cops or robbers?
37 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
Cops, always cops.

You never get to play as the authorities and it fucking sucks.
>>
>>46089089
There's not much difference, to be honest. The only thing that i can think of is the fact that cops have to be less destructive, because laws.

don't forget that you also have at least some authority.

>After all, you're just losing a few packs! And I'm getting into the Top 8 I so deserve to be in, but wasn't able to win enough games to do so.
>I'm not mad this guy who I have explicitly named out of all of the opponents I faced didn't scoop for me to let me into the Top 8.

When I first had my sword, I cleaned the blade judiciously, but ignored the rust on the guard because I thought it was just natural blade aging/pitting. After two years, someone finally suggested I clean it, and by then the little holes were bery numerous. I've been told it makes the weapon look well-worn.

As GM and player, do you think featuring lengthy scenes of pure PC interaction with no story stuff going on, like just hanging out around town, is worthwhile if the players get engaged into it?

Pic somewhat unrelated because mobile.

>if the players get engaged into it?
There's your answer. If the players are engaged, you're doing it right.
>>
>>46086933
Yes? How is this even a question. It's a roleplaying game. If the players get engaged enough that they are entertained by simply acting as their characters and interacting with each other and having character developing moments, that's a good things.
>>
>>46086933
I always enjoy the occasional inter-party chat during a campfire either before going to sleep or during your watch. Also, you can never go wrong hanging around in the town with your party once in a while to blow off steam.

How do mages in your setting handle magic that involves transforming humans and/or animals? Is it verboten, common, or under the table?

What is the best video game translation of the experience of playing a tabletop role-playing game such as D&D?
39 posts and 5 images submitted.

>>46086525
Bethesda games. It feels like playing a game with a GM that reads straight from the adventure and uses one of three voices for every character and they all love you.
>>
Baldur's Gate
Early Bethesda up to Morrowind, but Oblivion does feel more like a traditional fantasy setting.
Older JRPGs that was inspired by D&D. I was LITERALLY thinking about the old Final Fantasy, since 1 and 3 are pretty much D&D knockoffs, especially the former. I would recommend 2 but I'm not sure if you'd like it.
Also Wizardry.
>>
Dark Souls. You'll feel like you're under the thumb of a cruel GM who refuses to hold your hand, while still giving you the freedom to build your character how you want.

ITT: We give established space marine chapters new fluff.

Example
>Ultramarines are now officer specialists
>After Guilliman's fatal wound, they establish a "senate" of company masters that discuss military matters based on the knowledge of the codex they were left with
>Most marines delegate more time to studying than actual training in hopes of being recognized as masters of the primarch's teachings and rising in rank
>Ultramarines become less effective fighters, but each marine is now an effective officer
>Often helps out by giving military advice to allied forces and leading forces rather than doing the bulk of the battle themselves
>This practice of being commanders makes them arrogant and earns the contempt of other chapters and some branches of the Imperium's forces for their habit of trying to have control of all of their ally forces whilst risking almost nothing

Raptors use mainly ranged weapons as a reaction to the Tau and Tyranids- they frequently got shot down before they could close in melee and the Tyranids would often surround and rip apart their most stalwart warriors, again in melee.

Also, they don't generally use melee because they don't want to get the IG they work with jealous. Of their glorious, armored, forms tearing the enemy apart with chainswords and power weapons.

With a bit of exclusiveness, extensive character creation constraints, and a mod that hates *teleports behind you* tier stuff it can work. Otherwise it just becomes a shitshow of teenagers's special snowflakes trying to one-up everyone.
