Regret taking mage armor? It's part of my bloodline, so i can't really not take it.
Its true I don't have web or sleet storm, OR black tentacles. In fact I am lacking in CC options in general. I know that CC is the king of the game, but I was trying to go for more of a glass cannon type of character.
I took magic weapon greater to help my allies save some money on their weapons if they want. Enchantment bonuses get expensive fast. Would you recommend I take black tentacles instead?

So yeah.
Can we get a Make Soulknife Better option that doesnt involve casting, for people who dont want casting, but also dont want to be on the soulknife shortbus.
Preferably not just free Warsoul. Something that works in concert with base soulknife stuff rather than just slapping extra stuff onto its frame.

Please, never, ever try to speak for more than one person. You might hate elves, and you might see another person say they hate elves, but that hardly constitutes a board-wide consensus, especially when it's on a matter as stupid and forced as this retarded elf hate meme you keep trying to press.

I was thinking of doing a DnD game in where a Mega-corp ship lands on the planet for the purposes of colonizing it. Should the party be from the corporation, the natives or a mix of both? I'm using Faerun to run this.
Assuming this is even a good idea, which I doubt, the answer depends on when the landing was relative to the start of play.
If the ship just landed, the PCs should be all one side or the other.
The longer the ship has been there, the more likely mixing will become.

You are Urist Twelfthbay, the moe personification of Dwarf Fortress. Normally, you're a short, sturdy creature fond of drink and industry, but right now, you're stuck in the body of a goddess. That is not nearly as awesome as it sounds. Thankfully, you're on the verge of getting that shit sorted out, but to be perfectly honest, that's not your most pressing concern right now:
You can't remember the last time you drank alcohol.
This shouldn't be happening, because you are (technically still) a dwarf. By all rights, your throat should've dried up fifteen minutes into alcohol deprivation. By half an hour, your skin should've started crawling, and an hour without a properly stiff drink should see your limbs growing leaden and unresponsive. The fact that you've gone /entire minutes/ without even thinking about alcohol is staggeringly unnatural, in and of itself.
... right. You're stuck in CPU Purple Heart's body. Unless Neptune's hiding some sorta deep darkness behind that ditzy airheaded exterior, you're reasonably sure she's not hopelessly addicted to cave-brewed moonshine. Your mind's clear, your body's not going into withdrawal, and you don't feel like murdering the nearest person in hopes that their internal organs contain trace amounts of booze. (You DO feel peckish for dessert, but you push it down).
Armok help you, is... is this what it's like to NOT be alcoholic?
"Oneechan, are you okay?"
You look up. Up ahead, Mojang's frowning at you with no small amount of worry, so you nod quickly. Yeah, you're fine! You're just fine.
(Cont.)
>>46020072
The redhead relaxes a bit, but before you can say anything else, she's drawn back into quiet, almost conspiratorial conversation with mini-Nep. The purple-haired goddess candidate glances back at you every now and then. So does Mojang.
... it's strange how well they're getting along. It's not like you were worried about Mojang suddenly getting green-eyed jealous over little sister-ness or something like that; she's painfully good-natured, and sudden forced 180-degree shifts in personality only happens in those Japanese cartoons.
Still, they've been talking an awful lot. Maybe it's some kinda little sister commiseration thing?
Anyway, you're all headed down toward your hyperdimensional fortress's cavern levels, both to mine out Seganium (to let you get your body back) and to make sure that ravening forgotten beasts won't suddenly burst through to eat you all in your sleep. You're painfully aware that the hallways are all unfinished quickly-hewn stone, and that the damn place still has that bland new fort smell, but there's precious little you can do about proper dwarven decorations until you're properly dwarven again.
... speaking of your dwarven body, Neptune's been awfully quiet ever since she started walking. You look to where she's been keeping pace with you, and she's... staring ahead, her eyes slightly feverish, and she's sucking on her own braided hair.
The hell?
Neptune's gaze flits toward you, and she turns slightly red. "W-Wah! This isn't what it looks like! Your hair tastes good!" she hisses defensively. "It's all warm and fuzzy and heats me up from the stomach outward! What kind of shampoo do you even use!?"
(Cont.)
>>46020103
Uh... water, animal tallow soap, and the inevitable splotches of booze that get into your hai-
Oh.
Oh, hell, Neptune's going through alcohol withdrawal, because you're a goddamn dwarf.
[ ] [GIVE NEP ALCOHOL] Because your dwarven body can't actually get drunk, but Neptune can go through withdrawal. And the prospect of Neptune going through withdrawal absolutely terrifies you.
[ ] [DON'T DO IT] You'll swap back soon enough, and Neptune can handle it until then. Besides, for all you know, the alcohol dependency'll stick TO her if you booze her up.
[ ] [GIVE NEP PUDDING] Treat the symptom, not the disease.
[ ] [GIVE NEP SPIKED PUDDING] Why not both?
[ ] [WRITE-IN]
>>46020103
Shampoo? What's that? Some kind of mamby-pamby elven soap? Real dwarves make their soap from the rendered fat of slaughtered kittens!
...Actually you know what, yeah, it's shampoo.

Have you ever run a game in a Weird Fantasy setting? How did it go?
>>46019885
I wish. I've written the seeds for a few campaigns but never got a group to play them.
So all I can offer is a bump.
I don't care what the card is or what it does, but I want a card that depicts Sorin and Nahiri in a sword fight. Preferably one of those stereotypical "sword locked, face to face, grit teeth" sort of poses. Bonus points if either something in the background is exploding or some angels are murdering something or getting murdered.
That would mean that someone had a case of being in another person's way.
>>46019886
Sorin comes down with a sudden and fatal case of being-in-the-way-of-a-millennia-old-waifu.
>>46019854
She really needs a costume switch at some point. I love the utilitarian look but I think we all get the Stoneforge Mystic homage already, time to see Nahiri wearing something else.

Planescape General and Q&A
Thread starter question: How would you run a "Pirates, Privateers, and Navies of the Rivers Styx and Oceanus" campaign or campaign arc?
Discuss Planescape and the Great Wheel here, whether the original AD&D 2e version, the 3.X version, the 4e version (yes, it exists in 4e, down to the baernaloths, the yugoloths, the Heart of Darkness, Maeldur et Kavurik, Tenebrous, Pelion, and the Last Word all being canon as of Dragon #417), the 5e version, or your own original blend.
I am exceedingly well-lanned on Planescape canon under a holistic blend of 2e, 3.X, and sometimes even 4e lore. If you have any questions at all about the setting's lore, feel free to ask, and I will give you direct quotes and citations from as many primary sources as I can, unlike afroakuma. I will note when something is open to GM interpretation, and explicitly note whenever I give merely my own personal interpretation.

Do the Styx and Oceanus meet anywhere?
It could be pretty neat for tanar'ri pirates to harass Upper Planes ports.
>>46020595
I have searched through as many sources regarding the Rivers Styx and Oceanus as I could find, and I can safely say that there is no canonical precedent for them ever meeting up.
I imagine that if you did wish for them to meet up regardless, the ideal convergence points would be along the "rim" of the Outlands.
>>45959227
I have fielded this question in previous threads.
Ironically, the core Planescape Campaign Setting boxed set is not particularly vital to playing or running Planescape. If anything, it is rather unpolished and unrefined.
The single most important book for Planescape 2e is the "Planewalker's Handbook." It is the most up-to-date summary of the entire setting, useful for both players and GMs, and everyone who intends on using the setting should read through it as much as possible.
Following up from that, you will want "In the Cage: A Guide to Sigil," "Factol's Manifesto," and "Uncaged: Faces of Sigil" for running the City of Doors.
"Planes of Law," "Planes of Chaos," "Planes of Conflict," and "A Player's Primer to the Outlands" will acquaint you with the Outer Planes.
"Inner Planes," "Guide to the Astral Plane," and "Guide to the Ethereal Plane" should cover the remaining planes.
Those are the primary books you will want. If you wish to understand fiends and the Blood War, you should also download "Faces of Evil: The Fiends" and "Hellbound: The Blood War." Likewise, if gods and other divinities interest you, "On Hallowed Ground" should serve you well.
Since you have already gone through the Planewalker's Handbook, you have acquainted yourself with the basics of the setting, and so everything from that point is supplementary.

>>45959423
Slaadi, contrary to popular belief, are *not* purely random and incomprehensible in their thought processes. Page 71 of Planes of Chaos: The Book of Chaos delves into the slaad mindset, which strongly prizes personal strength and the worth of the individual (in this case, exemplifying Chaotic Neutral in the "individual above all" sense rather than the "random" sense).
It is important to remember that slaadi are the exemplars of Chaotic Neutral, and there is more to that alignment than simply being random and unpredictable.

That's stuff for everything minus DG (Sorry!)
The starter for today is:
What is your favourite lovecraft story to use elements of in your games?
>>46019239
>favourite lovecraft story to use elements of
At the Mountains of Madness.
It's pretty late in his work and kind of spoilers some stuff. It takes a very informed perspective about the Mythos. How reliable this information is remains ambivalent, but it has been used as the foundation for much of the Mythos structure other authors have expanded on.
>Do you guys actually want this
Threads are much more productive if they pose a specific question relating to an actual game being played. All this /general/ hypothesizing is a hollow echo chamber. I don't mind it. But you better hope someone asks an interesting question soon.
>>46019592
That's fair. Problem is, I still want to make this more popular as a system to discuss, and I can't ask interesting questions all the time. I thought a general worked better.
Also, on the topic of stories to use, the classic Shadow over Innsmouth, especially when doing civil work in the commonwealth or such.
So I've been trying to figure out for a while how I could DM a Scooby Doo themed CoC game. Of course, the players would be the Gang, but I'm stuck on trying to write a story that would feel like Scooby but also be good Lovecraftian horror. I even have a goofy themed character sheet for each character (Scoob included). What do you guys think a good monster, setting, or scenario would be? And I don't just want to rip off Mystery Incorporated, because half of my players have seen it.
So with units getting cheaper and cheaper and armies getting consequently larger and larger we're getting less and less YOUR DUDES.
So my question is you have a YOUR DUDE ? That one model that's the main hero, like a Emperor Champion who's duels you write down, a sniper HQ that you use to hunt enemy heroes, an Imperial Knight that you use to hunt down enemy monster creatures and painted your own original heraldry on ?
>>46018669
I just use a veteran sergeant because I don't want to be too snowflakey. Plus all my HQs are based on existing GW characters already.
>>46018669
sly marbo is my guy
oh wait
>>46018669
Both my Dire Avenger Exarchs are heads of Rival shrines and constantly vying to out-feat each other. One always plays defensively, protecting objectives and HQs, while the other rushes in like a hotblooded fucker every time.
So far the younger, brasher Exarch has proven the better, killing Deathwing knightmasters, Purifier Knights of the flame and Honour guard, and wiping bike squads and the like. There was one time when his entire squad ate a plasma cannon, but we don't talk about that much.
