What gameplay mechanics do you like, /tg/? Note that this doesn't have to be an entire system, just parts you think are cool or fun.
Personally I really like the FFG SW system of splitting success and circumstance, but tying the dice rolls into the narrative. It makes things harder for the players to predict and gives me a good mechanism to speed things up if they're getting bored.
I also really like classless systems, I feel like the classes in most games are inflexible and arbitrary, they don't give you a lot of control over your character and...

I really like the elegancy of the (4d100/4)-1 that FATAL uses. I just wished it could be extrapolated into a general purpose roll rather than just character generation.

The "Make your own Attack" mechanic. Like what M&M and BESM does. It's cool to come up with your own powers, though usually it lends itself to being easily broken.

I'm trying to find a video of someone using a staff weapon practically. It can be any type - halberd, quarterstaff, pike, spear. Doesn't matter.
Pretty much every video I've found so far have been choreographed fights with lots of idiotic flipping and spinning.

All I can say is learn from your mistakes, after the session note down things you think you did wrong, and try to think of a way to improve on them, think of what you did really well, and be sure to keep doing it.

What's the creepiest/most disturbing scene you've ever witnessed in a game?
Out of character or in game? I've never seen anything too disturbing around a game table, I've seen a few temper tantrums, a couple walkouts and near fistfights. The closest to being made uncomfortable I'd say was the VtM game with the two 40 year olds next to their four open garbage cans reeking of fetid waste while the played "Want to Live Forever" by Queen on repeat for six hours.
In character I've seen rapes, mass murders, famine, callous torture, etc. Lot of cannibalism, or DM is big into cannibalism.

My warlock recently held a an enemy down with telekinesis and then cast Evard's Black Tentacles inside of her body. Pretty gruesome way to go, and the the DM went into explicit detail. The rest of the party was pretty horrified, but the cult members we were fighting ran off straight away.

"Budget stretched thin?" Emi asks.

Behind you, the old cartermesser clears his throat to grab your attention. "You lot said you were going to Contique, right?" He asks.

The old guy thinks for a moment. "Do any of you guys drive?" He asks.
"I can operate a powered cart, if that's what you're asking" Derrick says.

Hi /tg/,
I'm currently running a campaign in which the players are trapped in Commorragh and are being tormented and followed by a sadistic Haemonculus, whom is allowing them to perhaps attempt escape, only to find themselves trapped in torturous games and twits and turns.
I want to create a real and tangible feeling of paranoia and despair amongst the players, by setting up escape scenarios only for them to be orchestrated by this seemingly everpresent pinhead like haemonculus.
I'd like to have clever SAW movie like scenarios, and truman show...

Essentially, they're all closed systems, so how would foliage, weather, and populations of animal life function inside?

Yeah they're pretty complicated, which is why you need to be a particularly fancy wizard to make them happen.
Also, Elemental Demiplane of Gang Violence is the best. In my setting it's a sub-plane of Ysgard, so the entire plane is just people gunning each other down forever.
