Has anyone considered creating a campaign set in the 1984 setting?
I'd imagine it would be very heavy into rollplaying and insta pk due to the thought police which might not be everyones piece of cake.

I've been mulling it over and i remember that the glossary mentioned that the insoc gov't eventually fell so i can give players a fair chance at survival.

Tl;dr help me create a 1984 campaign.

Also, if anyone has links they can reccomend on everyday life under a dictatorship that would be welcome.
>>
I mean, if you play Paranoia full on seriously (which is a thing if I recall correctly) it comes pretty close I guess. Not sure if there's a 1984 specific setting/rulebook floating about in the PDF share thread, or even in existence.
>>
If you dug a bit into independent news sources you'd find you're already playing one.

>Rest of the party doesn't know they have a ritual where they drain your blood and replace it with drow blood and then you BECOME a drow
>Rest of the party doesn't know that drow are literally a corrupted twisted warps elves who are now a literal personification of perversion and suffering
>Rest of the party believes these drow "refugees" who are "fleeing from oppression" are "good people" and not an invasion force

Literally the last elf character I played 100% believed all these things despite every drow we encountered being a refugee, escaped slave, or just a straight up honest hard-working citizen of the kingdom.
Worse still, 99% certain we're going to the Underdark within the next session or two.

I imagine we take a warboss with mega armor, cybork body, attack squig, an ammo runt and a bosspole. But i don't know if there's anything else we can do to make it more powerful.

If you practice a lot, and I mean a lot, you can generally choose where a die will fall. You won't roll 20/20 20's, but you can increase the amount you would normally roll by a bit.

Then you look like a prick adjusting what facing is where when you roll and shit.

Play a human midget that hates halflings, and is often mistaken for a halfling. Or might be a halfling and insists he is not. Keep it light. Like a quasi-halfling Uncle Ruckus.

Whenever something bad happens or you get bad rolls, make your character bitterly remark to himself, "I bet the halflings did this."

With their tragically brief time in the company of Sir Denim concluded, Dyrus and the rest of Lady Hauteclere's revolutionaries get used to the fact that the VERY different Chief Paisley is their ally for the time being. The very same morning that Denim's duel ended in his death, everyone was heading Northeast, into desert Gerxel territory. "We had thought it wise that we avoid slighting the desert region," Hauteclere explains to no avail, "and that Director Cato might even abstain from aiding the rest of the Empire if left ignored..."

"To hell with that!" Paisley calls in response. "Sure, it'd be nice and sweet if the mages just get along with all us rebels and raiders and decent folk trying to take back what's ours, but that Cato's a snake who won't stop biting my people! We'll draw her out to fight us, put her head on a pike before you're outta this desert!"

While Dyrus and pals hope he's not speaking literally, Rene and her little group continue their adventures in Garou valley. They haven't heard from the nomad Rene spared the life of since he ran off, but then again nobody but Rene has reason to believe he's alive, and even if they did they had no reason to care. Our Imperial protagonist focuses quite plainly on the hunt for the nomad chief Tien, none the wiser to the events just West of the Wolfskin region, but nonetheless wary of them.

Samson, meanwhile, multitasks between getting up to snuff with the sword (he has the guiding ring to thank for his being able to learn so quickly...), figuring out how to ration the prison's limited supplies of food, water, and healing items, keeping up with his songwriting and novel-penning, maintaining a newly-made-official relationship (he's partially folded that in with the sword training, since Millicent's more quick and cautious fighting style suits his weaker frame quite well), and planning for his prisoner army to competently challenge their two rival factions.

You are Captain Bjorn ‘Bork’ Bjornsson of the European Union’s Swedish Expeditionary Forces, and today has been absolutely miserable. First, you had to liberate the hated Danish lands instead of glorious Sweden, and look happy about it. Then the UN Space Corps dropped your resupply pods into a cluster of BETA instead of where you could get to it without carving your way through with nothing but the last dregs of ammunition and melee weapons your already battered squad had left. And now, you have 132 vampires bearing down on your position accompanied by the laughter of one of the crazy American pilots who launched the salvo.

Your Gripen is agile and light enough to dodge around the majority of the BETA as you slash out with your melee halberd and occasionally your wrist blades to carve through the onrushing tide. The Eurofighters are falling back, providing what fire support they can from a distance. Now you just need to survive for the time it will take for the American TSA’s to get into firing positions. Hopefully, one of those missiles won’t mistake you for a Fort and decide to lock onto you. Once those things go active, there’s no stopping them.
Your BWS-8 Flugelberte easily rips through a Grappler trying to give you the hug of death, the weapon easily cleaving it clear in twain. Hopefully you can get to the resupply pods before the missiles go active, but it’ll be tight. You’ve got to make a call, and you need to make it fast.

Now just what to do?

Huh. Perspective shift.

Do we have IFF that will interface properly with U.S. Missiles?
>>
>>47173099

If we've got IFF, then I'd say got for it - IR or radar, we aren't going to look much like a Fort-class. Well want to stay low, below Fort-Body-Height and make sure that we keep are transponders facing the missiles.

Here's a thing I'm using for the old Desert of Desolation module:

Necrophidis
Medium construct, neutral
AC 13 HP 45 Spd 30
STR DEX CON INT WIS
16 (+3) 20 (+5) 10 (+0) 8 (-1) 10 (+0)
Prof.: +2
Passive Per. 10 Senses: Darkvision 60
Skills: Stealth +7
Vulnerable: bludgeoning
Immunity: poison, poisoned, exhaustion, charmed
Languages: understands Thune
Graceful Mover. The necrophidius ignores difficult terrain, and has advantage on ability checks and saving throws made to escape a grapple.
Dance of Death. As a bonus action, the necrophidius performs a macabre hypnotic sway as it targets one creature it can see within 30 feet of it. If the target can see the necrophidius, the target must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw against this magic or be charmed until the end of the necrophidius’ next turn. The charmed target is stunned. If the target's saving throw is successful, the target is immune to the necrophidius’ dance for the next 24 hours.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) piercing damage, and the target must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw, taking 10 (3d6) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

The necrophidius is built and animated for a single task, such as protection or assassination. It has the bleached-white skeleton of a giant snake, a fanged human skull, and constantly whirling, milk-white eyes. Its bones are warm to the touch. The necrophidius is odorless and absolutely silent; the skeleton makes no noise, even when slithering across a floor strewn with leaves. A necrophidius is constantly moving with a macabre grace.
A necrophidius doesn't require air, food, drink, or sleep.

CR2. Better used in groups against higher level PCs, but could be used as a solo encounter for lower level PCs.
