Tell me about the current plans of your pc's, both short and long term. I especially want to hear about how they intend to deal with the big bad, and what they know about the big bad so far.

Next step is to sell the salvage of a space station to retrofit it to being a Research and Development location.

After, perfect a bioweapon that is basically "The Blob" as an airborne virus. At the same time start producing super morphine mixed with space meth.

The drug trade will fund the next step. Which is developing a Combat Platform for the Virtual Intelligence he has already. Once that is done, upgrade that VI to an AI.

Then, find some nanotech to upgrade the platform to self replicating combat mecha.

From there, I've won.

It also turns out my character is becoming the BBEG somehow.
>>
Short term he wants to expose a cult's existence and make it crumble from within through careful deception and infiltration. He has already risen through the ranks enough to get close to the supposed head of the organization. He has done terrible things to prove his loyalty. Or so it would appear...

Long term he wants to uncover the truth behind why all this occult activity has sprung up of late and has been working to create a network of spies specifically to detect future activity of this kind within the region.

As for the BBEG... He has terrible dreams of horrors unleashed upon the world but nothing solid to go on. With each cult he finds he discovers more about their common roots...

Short-term we're in the past to "steal" (just pick up before they normally would be found) a shitload of God-produced energy crystals that are used up and rare as fuck in the future, to power a special 3-dimensional time travel spell dome that the goddess of artifice built for us.

Long-term? We're going to assemble the greatest, most powerful heroes from every legend that we can. Extremely ancient dragon lords, unmatched psions, a hobgoblin warrior-king who united the northern tribes through conquerig them, and quite a few others that I don't fully remember. We don't have any of them yet, but it should be easy to find - we have an artificial "defective" goddess of knowledge with us, who my character taught psionics to, so she can reliably recall just about any information.

Uh, anyways, we're assembling the army because it's the best shot mortals have of dealing a wound great enough to a universe-eating eldritch abomination that the eldest gods of the universe can force it fully out and seal the universe from it again. It's far too great for anyone of us to actually kill, even with the greatest army ever assembled, so we're content with just trying to force it out.

At what point is a piece of technology too advanced for medieval fantasy rpgs?

Do you care if it was around in roughly the real medieval times or would the optical telegraph fit right in despite being late 18th century tech?

>>
>>47631362
I don't care. Medieval fantasy is dumb. Medieval period as envisioned by fantasy RPGs is dumb. Give me late 18th, 19th or even 20th century instead, i'll play that in a heartbeat.
>>
>>47631401
not the OP, but the issue with that is that when you put in even minor amounts of magic, suddenly a lot of stuff could be made.

>>47631362
That said, I'm fairly fine with "if it could be made" mentioned there, plus the bullshit magic might provide.

Lately, what I've been doing to sidestep things a bit in a campaign setting is that magic's been out of the game for the setting for centuries and has only recently comeback.

So wizards are trying to get back into the swing of things and only just now experimenting with what they can do with the new tech around.

What's the rules with the forge world rapier? I just want to know which ones that i'm able to field as imperial guard.

Someone did mention sometime ago something about a hull mounted gravity cannon for the leman but i'm unsure if that's true.

No. Not yet.
>>

Chaos ones come in Ectoplasma, which is better.

I'm trying to list all the environments I could put my players through in a fantasy campaign. There's:

Forest
Mountains
Desert
Snowlands
Swamp
Underdark
Volcano
Hell
Underwater
Jungle
City
Sewers
Dungeon

Have I missed any other classic location types?

Sold my PC today and want to get into a new hobby. I recently got interested in tabletop, especially Warhammer 40k.Is it worth it, or am I too late? Warhammer Fantasy/AoS looks awesome too, but friends told me to stay away from AoS.

You should probably avoid GW in general, if you want to at least have a good tabletop experience.

Unless it's the only thing played in your area, then good luck.
>>
>>47630397
>Is it worth it, or am I too late?
You're far too late. The best way to enjoy the 40k universe isn't by playing the tabletop. Play Dawn of War and the tabletop RPGs.

Fantasy is best enjoyed now by playing Total War: Warhammer and the RPGs.

If you're dead set about getting into a tabletop, look to Kings of War, its not!Warhammer Fantasy, Warmachine, or Infinity.

Pick the look and fluff you like best and roll with it.
>>
>>47630441
Ignore this guy OP

The reason most people get into 40k is the lore or setting or design aesthetics. People like this guy is trying to get you into the rules and other games (which are good and fun and my actual preference but you want Warhammer).

40k isn't particularly a great game BUT the models are fun and so is the lore. There's a more fun, smaller scale version of the rules called Kill Team. There is a blog out there that actually improved the Kill Team rules. They are currently revamping the rules through committee (so it's taking forever and is wildly unbalanced and shit) BUT they kept the old rules before the revamp on their blog. These rules are in supplement to the main rules of the game. It can be found here. The core rules of the supplement have not been updated yet so they are under the main tab and the rules for individual armies are under the "legacy" tab.

http://heralds-of-ruin.blogspot.com/p/kill-team-rules.html

My tip would be to get a Start collecting set and some model acrylic paints, very important that they are for models and not enamel paints because model paints use special pigments that are much smaller than in regular paint. If you were to use regular paint you would lose most of your detail.

Start collecting https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Warhammer-40-000?N=102352+4294965381&Nu=product.repositoryId&qty=12&sorting=rec&view=table&categoryId=cat440130a-flat

If the faction you want isn't present then I am sorry to say that getting started may be a little more expensive.

hey fa/tg/uys. You guys were quality players on 4chab and the last iteration on the serb. I thought you guys might be interested in this, hope to see you on the serb

IP: intcraft.online

Next friday (june 10th) We're launching our historical RP minecraft server based around 1900 AD.

It is a historical rp server with plugins to help with immersion. Players make nations and these nations can trade, make treaties or alliances, and go to war with one another for land and glory. We're paying for our own board which we use for discussions regarding our server.

There will be a set amount of historic nations that can be claimed by groups of players prior to launch. All nations will have their historic borders already claimed. You can not make your own nation, you can either claim a pre-existing nation or join one. You can however get your own nation later by diplomacy or revolution.

We play on an accurate map of Europe, including parts of northern africa which will be unclaimed at the start and will be open for colonization.

We have created an original content resource pack with crackshot and custom weapons. You can use many different types of rifles along with flamethrowers, grenades, and artillery. Dyed leather armor will be re-skinned to military uniforms. There will also be brewcraft and you can sit in chairs (obviously the most important part). THIS IS NOT MODDED IN ANY WAY! This is vanilla.

Since you asked.
Here is first card of the first booster.

Get hyped

Okay, so let's say you have a King who wished that "everything he touched turned to gold". Now, this wish was taken literally, and everything, his clothing, the air around and inside him, droplets of sweat, was instantly turned to gold killing him.

The effect is hugely superficial. If you rub an object against his finger (prying away the gold first) only the area of that object the finger touch turned to gold. The greatest difficulty is having to pry away the gold from his skin just long enough for it to touch something.

What is the most cost effective way to use his corpse to turn materials into gold?
39 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>47627801
grind him into dust, spread him over an area regather the material and subject it to electrolysis to separate the gold from the body, then spread the dust out again. Rinse and repeat.
>>
Determine what granted him this wish and subjugate it.
>>
Contain his body in a superheated Dwarven furnace, introduce a fuel substance into the furnace to contact the body, such as soot. Once it touches him, the gold will melt and pool into a drainage receptacle to be maintained by hearty dwarven goldsmiths.
Turn this whole facility into a temple and now you have the Altar of Infinite Molten Gold.

The best trade I can remember was when a guy had just traded away a Drama, so he had just looked up the price. He said it was $5. I tried to tell him it was $10, but he said it was $5, so I traded him a Kytheon for his Drama and a Westvale Abbey.
>>

I try to trade as much and often as i can. Usually, its stuff i dont need for other stuff i dont need, but i always get something another player will want and maybe something i need. Before i knew it, i had all of the cards for a few decks except for a few expensive pieces.

I've read fluff about "Eldar ambassadors" to the Imperium, but I thought the Imperium kills xenos on sight unless they're busy killing other xenos/Chaos. Am I mistaken about something?
43 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>47627079
Just like in the real world, politics are a thousand shades of gray.

It is sometimes beneficial for the Imperium to work with the Eldar, hence why there are ambassadors between the two at the extremely high levels (such as the Inquisitorial level) of the Imperial government.

However, those decisions can't be safely made at the lower levels of society, so the "official" policy for the average person (and even regular nobility) is still to avoid at all costs, because they're almost certainly not capable of handling it and will be manipulated by the Eldar into doing the bidding of the Eldar.
>>
>>47627079
The Imperium's overarching policy is that it the galaxy belongs to humanity and that every sapient alien race must be exterminated. However, that's completely infeasible in the short term, so they do entertain diplomatic communications with some factions. Eldar are one, Tau another. Generally, these relations are handled by the Inquisition and a non-militant faction of the Sororitas (Diagolus IIRC) focused on translation and interpretation of alien societies and languages.
>>
>>47627079
>There are Eldar there
>Also a whole bunch of nids we both loosing against
>Let's speak to the guys who, well, can be spoken with
>But let's ask them to pick one dude instead of all of them and we send one dude too
Bahm, there you go anon, an ambassador.

One of the key aspects of mythologies that separates them from other works is that many myths and legends have multiple interpretations and can be recounted in multiple different ways. One version might mention Narcisus becoming a flower after death, while another might mention him rotting in tartarus for his foolish pride.

This is because mythologies are not written by single authors, but are added to over time from other sources and from other storytellers, creating stories that are vibrant, interesting, and often self-contradictory.

Lets see it /tg/, with its multiple authors, can replicate the feel of a mythology. In your post, create any myth you want. You can use characters/gods from a previous post, make up your own, write new details to a previous story; whatever the hell you want. Lets see what we end up with.

I'll start:

>Life was created from the love of Otax the Ocean and Ava the moon.
>They had first seen each-other during battle, for the forces of Earth and Sky do make war with each-other
>Otax and Ava both knew that they loved each-other at first sight.
>They fled the battle in its chaos, and loved each-other. They promised to meet again.
>11 times did they love each-other, and on the 12th time, they were discovered.
>Both Earth and Sky were furious at their children, and would have killed them were it not for the mortals.
>For when Otax and Ava made love, Ava did give birth to her children, who were neither of Sky or Earth.
>Rain, River, Wind, Wood, Lightning, and all of Ava's children played upon the surfaces of Earth and Sky, and where they walked, mortal life grew.
>First were the fish and the birds, then grass and trees, then beasts and bugs, and finally Man.
>Earth and Sky, seeing that they were now covered with living things, were forced to call ceasefire.
>Their honor prevented them from fighting that would harm the innocent, and life had spread all across the world.
>Ending the warring among the gods, Earth and Sky punished their children by separating them forever.
>But 12 times a year, on the birthdays of their children, Otax and Ava desperately reach out to each-other; Ava shining low and bright in the sky, and Otax rising as high as he can.
>This is how life was created, and why the tides rise to the full moon every month.
>>
>>47626574
>Life was created by the trickery of the Moon Goddess Ava on the Ocean God Otax
>When the Earth was waging holy and just war against the Sky, the two beings met
>Ava used her feminine wiles to trick the noble Ocean, spawning a legion of children she thought could be used against Earth
>Her surprise when Man embraced the Earth, recognizing it's bounty and purity
>Earth, with his power, separated the evil Moon from the dejected Ocean, who still pines for her when she dares fly close to the ground
>Though you may be tainted with the Moon's sin, you may purge it from your body by drinking deep the salt of the ocean
>Don't forget to purge the dirty Moon worshipping filth
>>
>>47626574
>>47626728
>Life was created by the evil of the Ocean God Otax upon the Moon Goddes Ava.
>Whilst the Sky did defend itself from the jealousy and war of the Earth, Otax captured Ava and carried her off.
>Many times did Otax rape the gentle moon, and she was forced to bear his children
>It was not long before the graceful Sky spied upon the vile Otax, and rescued Ava from him.
>Sky would have utterly destroyed the Earth then, were it not for Ava's children, for although they were childrne of rape, Ava did love them.
>Otax still reaches up the Ava, his stolen prize, but whenever he tries, vigilant Sky beats him back towards the earth
>Remember, although our bodies live on the earth, our Soul is of the Sky, and it is only through meditatation and abandoning the pleasures and temptation of the earth that we may return to the Sky.

by that i mean like sometimes taking breaks to show whats going on on the villain side or some other third party that's not the party. or is this idea just shit worth only for diceless story-driven RPGs?

>>
>>47626314
>or is this idea just shit worth only for diceless story-driven RPGs?
This.
Story is from your player's perspectives.
You can have them see what the bbeg is up to via magic, or hear through rumours or something, but don't actively move away from them to show what's happening as it's just jarring.
>>
Maybe have a diviner NPC who lets the players peer into a crystal ball during downtime to get a clue about the bad guy.

Or, maybe, make the story about what the characters do and not what the bad guy is doing.
