Sup /tg/,
I was thinking of doing a Fallout-style campaign, and I have three ideas.
The first assumes the Sarah Lyons assassination theory is true. Essentially, the players, along with a group of NPCs, left the East Coast Brotherhood of Steel after the BOS started to become the mini-Enclave. Now, they must fight to survive and rebuild their organization in the ruins of Post-War Virginia.
The second is a cross-country journey from the West to the East. The motivations for this journey are largely up to the players; though I imagine it to be a Lewis and Clark-style journey to map the settlements along the trade routes of what remains of the United States.
The third is a struggle to survive in the irradiated ruins of Texas. Home to gun-happy religious extremists, super mutants, and the last stronghold of the Enclave, the party will face radiation to a ludicrous degree and high character mortality rates.
Also, which system should I use?
Thanks.
I'd personally recommend the first or third option. The second isn't a bad one, but unless the party is really interested, they'd probably rather not stay on that track forever.
The first idea has a lot of potential for the GM to throw in new enemies or old enemies whenever he chooses, and it gives the players a clear idea and they can potentially take it in any direction they want. But they need direction, or at least hints on where to go. Too many options, or being left with clear hints, they may not know what to do. Also it neds a clear "empire building" mentality in the PC's to want to do that.
I also like the 2nd idea, but a more clear incentive than "mapping the continent" is needed IF they are not very professional or honourbound individuals. What is to stop them from coming back with bullshit stories and make effortless cash when they were BBQ'ing Iguana's in some cave to pass the time? It'd give you, as the GM, great chances to set up step-by-step encounters however.
I'd recommend the BRP system, but that's because I love that system. No joke, if it had a dick, I'd try to massage it with my uvula non-stop.
>>47656136
What is a BRP system and how do we massage it?
I don't know if this means anything to anyone here, but recently the website, http://rp.thesubnet.com/ was taken down, as a result of cease and desist letters from Paradox Interactive Entertainment.
This content upon the site, was apparently in violation of Paradox Entertainment's policies, associated with spreading material about their games to others seeking to learn more about the World of Darkness games, and setting (though the site did not actually provide any illegal downloads to any products).
In this case, rp.thesubnet was designated to assist people playing world of darkness games (VTM, WTA, etc), and had material which helped people create characters for such a setting.
This is especially a stab to my friends and I, who just started learning some of the new WoD games, considering the 20th anniversary edition of VTM was released, not too long ago.
Anyway, I just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention, what happened here. I thought the site was a great resource, and very helpful to those of us who didn't have all of the information readily available to play.
Anyhow, thanks for taking a moment to read this..
You're just going to pirate the books, right? How did you lose anything?
>>47656653
OP is sad at the loss of the community, not the source of information, you assman
>>47656653
Ease of access and centralization are attributes we valued and the subnet was an excellent source of that. It was a small purveyor of information and mechanics, and even some (but crucially not all) of the rp elements, like a less-encompassing but still appreciated SRD. You could get any mechanical info there, and while you couldn't run a game wholesale with it, it had a breadth and store of useful and largely up-to-date info that a person with only core games would have to sift through perhaps a dozen other books to collect.
We lost a fairly efficient, organized and detailed compendium of material that, yes was stolen, but was made easy to peruse and concisely deliverable. The dump on the main thread hasn't been updated in years, and newer provided material is often in-progress dev work and thus can't be used with any veracity, something the subnet avoided by using only release text.
So yeah, by being absolutely and perfectly within exercise of their legal rights, Paradox (maybe Tencent in the future, if rumors hold weight) have expunged a convenient, commited, and damn-near likable site of their material from the net, and we're whiny about it. We don't have any real right to be so, but the urge is there.

Does your girlfriend(or wife if you're old) support your tabletop habits?
>>47654160
Yeah. Due to arrengments we both agreed on, I work full time while my wife stays at home and takes care of our kids (because day care is fucking expensive). And on a normal day as soon as I get home i'm usually busy doing household chores (Yard work, home repairs, making dinner every other night, ect.). As such, she is really supportive of my once a week habit of taking the evening to play d&d with some friends.
I think so.
I mostly use my right hand to play though.
>>47654217
I'm in a similar situation myself. Though once a week I go too the local gaming club to wargame. Got into xwing not too long ago and my wife has taken to occasionally picking me up a new ship like I occasionally get her flowers or chocolate.
Our daughter is starting to get fascinated by daddy's special dolls that she's not allowed too touch yet (because tiny parts and small children don't mix)
How would you make Stands work in a game?
A justification/power source and a thematic push towards weirder and more unusual sorts of powers.
By fucking off with your faggot jojo shit.
OR
Sticking to the Super Sunday Stand general thread, you utter faggot.
Any popular supers system and some refluffing.
Next question?
So, is there still a lot of whimsy in Magic the Gathering or is it taking itself too seriously?
Would you prefer it to be more ridiculous or less?
Are you kidding me? Characters like Jace are the textbook definition of "taking yourself too seriously".
>>47653824
they need a new unset to lighten things up
>>47653824
its taking itself too seriously.
I could just about accept that we can have an autistic walker that works, but the "look we avengers nao" meme has killed all my hope for interesting narrative. Like jace could go and uncover tamiyos secrets without having to have tea with the rest of the bunch describing how much sorin whined like a bitch when he had to kill avacyn.
Also the fact they didnt work in a black walker actually confirms wizards for not understanding blacks identity.
Alright, /tg/, I seek your wisdom regarding M:tG. A friend of mine told me that newer cards completely outclass the older ones from 20 years ago. He wants to duel me using his "Le Mindskulpt Plansewalkur" deck and wants me to use anything I want from any of the older non-legal sets. You and me both know he's a retarded faggot and that some of the older shit is beyond broken, but so be it.
Give me your best unrestricted trollsiest bullshit combinations, /tg/. And if you know of a card that lets you search a deck for all instances of a particular card and put them into play that would be %1000 appreciated.

Build Flash Hulk.
mana drain
yawgmoth's will
ancestral recall
moxen
time walk
force of will
high tide
turnabout
tendrils of agony
timespiral
rewind
you could probably just call that a deck honestly, if you're going unrestricted.
Just play fucking Stax if you want to piss him off.
What was it like or have you ever tried getting them into it?
>>47652980
No. My parents thought my gaming habits were fucking bizarre and totally alien.
>>47652980
They used to play back in the day. I got my father in law in on a game once, back when we needed to know each other better. I think he had fun, but he seemed to be out of his element after a bit. He bowed out after a short spell, but he seemed better after.
My dad learned the Pokemon TCG for me to have someone to play with. I feel so bad for him. He always had to put up with my nerdy shit. Wish I would have just got into cars like he wanted me too.
sup /tg/ I've been working on a tabletop RPG set in space, think FTL mixed with a bit of Space Dandy (Star Wars if you haven't heard of it) but I've been having some serious writers block, maybe you guys could help find some creativity
>tl:dr OP has bad writers block and needs help
threads dead baby, threads dead

>FTL mixed with a bit of Space Dandy
that sounds just awful
>>47652730
You could go the traditional humans vs humans thing, or have an outside force (Vongs, Tryanids) come in and push shit around
For some weird and inconceivable reason you appear on 40k's Terra, and somehow you gain the power to change the Imperium at your will.
This means you can now reform the bureocracy, give orders to the military, tell the Mechanicus to start developing new tech... Whatever you want done, will be done(in the scope of what's possible). Of course, you retain your 40k knowledge.
What do you do? How do you Make Humanity Great Again?
HARD MODE
You are the new Master of the Adeptus Administratum.
What do you do? How do you put your lore knowledge to good use?
Bump.
Hmmmm
I fix everything.
What the hell is she doing?

Comparing her tattoo to the symbol on the statue.

"Huh, I wonder if it would fit?"
But really, she's comparing the tattoo on her hip to one of the markings on the stone idol.

Tattoo on thigh matches stone carving.
Can we get an IG thread going?

I'm running a UK-based superhero RPG, and I'd like a snappy name for the organisation that oversees superheroes and powers.
Ideally it would be "The Ministry of ..." , and would have a stupid acronym.
My best so far is 'the Ministry for Extra Normal Technology and Activities', or MENTA.
Suggestions please.

How about some retro sci-fi campaign inspiration? Feel free to post art (genuine or more contemporary but designed to imitate it), recommend books, music, etc.
I'll post what I have.
Hey /tg/ I really need some help.
I'm looking for encounter mapping software thats free and not archaic software from the 90s.
Currently I hand build my maps in roll20 but its getting tedious and frankly wasting my time.
Thinking about using http://www.yeoldemapmaker.com/editor/ but even that feels faulty and annoying.
(Pic related, its my awkwardly sized attempt at an inn, via roll20)

at this point i might fucking consider it kill me

You seem to be shot at mapping op.
Roll20 can make better maps than what you've got there. Have you tried not sucking ass?
