I will be hosting it at an event on Saturday. The idea is to give people the opportunity to test out the new rules and the new War on Terror setting.
There was a Kali Ghati thread the other day, and I was wondering if anyone has played it. The story was clearly stitched together hastily and has some shortcomings.
The military setting isn't typical for the old DG, but I think that's a good thing because the old way is still around and only the focus has shifted. So that's fine. But there are other problems.
The trail of clues is very weak. Basically the players have to come up with the idea to launch a drone themselves, have to pass a bunch of rolls for it to happen and be successful, and there's a good chance the drone will fail to deliver the location of the village. So what other ways to find the village are there?
Another problem is the creature reveal during the showdown. It just isn't a very inventive design. It serves its purpose for the story, but it doesn't evoke horror because it is so referential of Cthulhu. So how can it become a true horror without giving up its function?
I liked the ideas in the other thread, but we need to elaborate.
Also, are there other problems I'm not seeing yet?

I'll be playing Delta Green for the first time this weekend. I've only ever played D&D 5E, what should I expect.

Madness and death, in that order.
>>43725080
Games like CoC, DG, Dread, etc. are not about playing a powerful hero who dominates almost every situation and keeps getting better at it.
Instead it is about playing a flavorful character torn by flaws and in no way equipped to deal with what they must face. Usually it ends in their demise. The fun is in the how.

>Rush and punch her head off with your bare fists.
You were a weapon of the Omnissiah and you’ll show both the Gladiators and the spectators that you were superior thanks to your many bionics and your allegiance to the Machine-God. Immediately after the combat started you tensed all your muscles and felt them tightening around your hardened skeleton and organs, from your bionics several small streams of steam emerged and readied them for the incoming skirmish. Your psyber eagle noticed your intentions and started to fly to not hinder your movements. Step after step you started to dash towards the Albino Gladiator as you felt how with each feet that you advanced more and more bionics activated, some mere seconds later your vibrowrists, electoos, luminen capacitors and the jet engines of your wings were connected, turning you into a blurry ball of electric light that advanced like a plasma projectile towards his doomed objective. The strange albino girl was also rushing towards you with her power claws and her head bizarrely spinning to swing the electro-flails that she had installed on her digestive track.
She was doomed.
You were faster, heavier and your bionics made your impacts even greater. You retracted your arm and released it in the form of a heavy unstoppable punch. The moment your metallic knuckles touched her face the quantity of Newtons that were liberated in that instant was massive, yet you could somehow feel all the damage that she had suffered. First her skull shattered, her eyes ruptured and exploded, afterwards several of her vertebrae became broken and misplaced, but she didn’t died yet, her death came mere seconds later when all the veins and flesh that connected her neck were ripped off from the impact.
Your punch was so great that you had decapitated her.
>>43724595
Her lifeless body somehow managed to stay upright for some seconds in which she showered you with a rain of blood and chemical products that coated you with crimson and multicolored fluids. The head continued flying in an arch that managed to reach the viewers, a couple of unlucky techpriests weren’t quick enough to avoid it and ended being affected by the head’s electro-flails, that were still attached to it and somehow continued activated.
There were other three gladiators that were fighting on the distance, when they saw what you were capable of they stopped and decided to create some kind of truce to unite their strength against you.
One carried with him the red hood and robes that revealed that he was a member of the Mechanicus, maybe it was an old techpriests that thought that he would have more future as a Gladiator or perhaps it was a Skitarii that did some crime and was punished to pay with his life in the Arena, he had a strange shield whose surface showed an oscillating frequency and carried with himself a mace that appeared to have some kind of mechanism inside of it.
>>43724607
The second one was a hulking mass of muscle and fat that was even bigger than you and whose origins are surely a failed experiment of some sort, it fought completely naked and had a constant look of stupidity on his face, still, you tried to be cautious and consider him as intelligent as the rest of the combatants.
The third one was a person of indeterminate gender that seemed to be heavily scarred and burned. Its armor was covered in grenades and used a grenade launcher in one hand and a flamer in the other. That fighter reeked of madness and insanity; it could be the most dangerous of them all for all you know.
You walked over the lifeless body of the fallen gladiator and started to meditate about what step to take next.
>Focus on the Skitarii warrior; try to make him see that you are like him and that you two should unite against the other two gladiators.
>Focus on the Hulking mass of muscle and fat. Use all your energy ranged weapons to turn him into a steaming pile of burning hot ashes.
>Focus on the the Flamer and Grenade warrior. Maybe you could use your eagle, Aquilax, to pull some pins of its grenades.
>Try to fight them all at once, give the watchers a great show.
>Write in.
Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner, I felt we could put /tg/ in a holiday mood by sharing the best GM you ever had, in order to provide an example for all those running games in next two festive months.
My best GM story is simple. The guy knew had to run the game well and constantly brought new players in and taught them how to effectively play their characters. Really got into the rp aspect. Had a new voice for every NPC and sound effects for every new region we entered. Kept us fed during the sessions, which could go a bit long, sometimes 9-10 hours, but we never complained, (besides one night that ended up in a fistfight). That campaign was my favorite hands down.
Hopeful bump for fa/tg/uy posts
Apparently /tg/ has awful DMs

Why did you think everyone was so salty all the time? We are damaged goods.
>Turns out Vampires, Elves, Dwarves, Dragons, and Fairies are real.
>They all come out of hiding asking to be integrated into human society but some want reparations from humanity for being driven off their lands.
>Also the vampires have been running the Red Cross the entire time, taking 5% of the blood to feed themselves.
How would Humanity react?

oh just went to their site
SoB Retributor is one of their heroes
though this is apparently more of a top down shooter objective based game (so more like Magicka Wizard Wars) than DOTA or LOL
though why couldt they have just used the Dawn of War 2 Engine/graphics.
>>43724223
Because it's targeted to 40k fans, they can eat up all kinds of shitty graphics or disservice just to play with 40k shoehorned into any genre possible.or at least, I would

well regicide graphically wasnt bad
just really confusing gameplay wise

Hi hi
Alright let me remember... we were going to the shopping district with Athena, Lyann and Portia, right?
Going to get some jewelry and clothes for Portia, and I think Ellie asked us to get flour for her.
For now, Portia is wearing one of Lyann's more modest robes so we need to get her her own clothes.
So, wanna go visit Tazar or Grumnir first?

>Holy order deals with really nightmarish shit for nobles and lords in return for generous "donations".
>Finds strength in his faith and loyalty to order
>Even though top brass is corrupt as sin
His guilty pleasure is whores and gambling, skirting the holy scriptures on technicalities.
>"Thou shall not take earthly pleasures in bedding"

>At least two different sources of light
>A flint and steel
>At least one ranged weapon that isn't throwing
>At least one blunt weapon
>Some parchment for map making or note taking
>At least one person who can detect traps
>Some first aid gear in case the healer runs dry
Why do you keep posting your comic here, Scott? No one cares.
Is picking up a shortbow and a few arrows at chargen really that hard of a concept, you should be able to use rocks as an improvised weapon at least. What is the baby even playing?
>>43723047
Baby's playing a chaos dragon or something like that. It's got low int, is CN, and the DM decides what it does based on the baby rolling a giant, foam D20.
>Playing Call of Cthulhu
>All PC's are students of Miskatonic University
>GM wants us all to have a TERRRIBLE SEEECRET for plot purposes
>Okay then
>Roll up character. Good with guns, unarmed, sneaking, and disguise
>Make him secret masked vigilante, like The Shadow or Jack Tarot
>Other PC's include mad scientist, government spy, and woman with amnesia
>Start game
>Investigating cult
>Everyone else pussyfooting around them trying not to get caught but me and mad scientist
Cont.
>Me and the mad scientist kidnap a cultist
>Tie him to a chair
>"Blah blah I feer you not for you are insignificant blah blah!"
>We get the sledgehammer out
>Guy begins to get worried, still doesn't crack
>Take sledgehammer, apply to kneecap
>Turns out most cultists don't have that high a pain tolerance, who knew?
>Learn that these chucklefucks are planning something big, a fancy ritual
>Inform party members
>Together, crash ritual
>andeveryonewasakungfufightan.jpeg
>Beat up a bunch of cultists, didn't stop the ritual however
>Assholes summon some sort of gibbering mindblasting atrocity
>GM has us roll for SAN and for our ability to not run away screaming
>Every single one of us ace the roll
>character pulls out his gun, starts firing
>Spy retreats, makes a call
>Mad Scientist pulls out a mad science grenade
>AmnesiaGirl starts on a banishing ritual
Long story short, we all survived, but my guy landed in the hospital for awhile.
Anyways, next session, the GM, a bit put out, has us investigate a series of odd disappearances.
>Look into it
>Turns out the mafia are making deals with the deep ones
>Set out to sabotage them
>Do this by setting up the mob boss for murdering a public official
>Said official had actually been in the mobs pocket
>Public wants mob bosses head
>Local mob collapses
>Fishmen loose their suppliers.
Most of the campaign was like this. Our characters all acing our SAN checks and in general beating up the bad guys(Usually with our bear hands) or outsmarting them. Eventually our GM stopped rolling SAN, and the game became less like a CoC game and more like a gritty 1920's pulp adventure.
Of course, the game ended, in probably the most satisfying ways a pulpy two fisted adventure with the Mythos as a backdrop could end.
>>43723053
It was like many, many years later. The youngest character, which was my vigilante, was in his 50's. The Mad Scientist had been replaced by his son, and the Goverment Agent had a new sidekick, and the amnesiac was now the head of the UN's Anti-Eldritch Abomination unit.
See, a massive coup had occured in Spain, of all places, and a new, Cthulhu worshiping regime was in power. Both the USSR and America, as well as all of Europe, were trying to snuff them out.
Thing is, they were attempting to use the resources owning a country would provide to perform a massive ritual. Knowing that the UN wouldn't be able to stop it, the anti-monster unit previously mentioned hired our guys for one last job.
We were to go in, kill the guy in charge, sabotage the ritual, and get out.
Good story, why didnt you play low power lvl m&m ?
So can someone here tell me how big did ungoliant really become after drinking the trees of valinor and how big wold she have gotten if Morgoth gave her the Silmarils?
>>43722774
It would have devoured the world and then itself.
Big enough to do that.
It was a big spider.
>>437228362U + U2
>>43722774
He would be a big guy
What types of light sources could be possible in an underground setting?
I am interested in the slavic underworld where Veles, the god of the natural world rules. It has been described as a lush plane with plants and animals and very wet as there are natural springs everywhere. Here mortals who have passed away herd Veles's cattle on the underground grassy plains.
But I have no idea what could light such a place if at all. I came up with bioluminescent plants and animals, cracks in the earth from which shafts of light can pass through and maybe even lava shining through the cracks from even further below.
How would you fix the problem of no lighting?
>>43722628
There's a sun in there.
Hollow Earth.
>>43722643
The sun is too heavily associated with the more heavenly gods in the slavic pantheon. Veles is in a neverending struggle to shed his material nature and ascend to heaven, only to be struck down by Perun the thunder god and fall back into the earth, representing the cycle of rain.
The idea of light in the underground goes against this representation but I do want to somehow weasel my way out of it, so far I think the most appropriate one would be the glowing animals and plants, but I would like to mix it up a bit.
>>43722628
Previously, a young girl without a family or a home explored the city of Dragonfell, running into various odd persons seeking her attention.
A young girl named Sophia and her band of shadowy companions convinced her to travel outside the relative safety of the city walls to join the secretive order of Rangers, who guard the balance of nature and civilization, as well as an old secret unknown to the citizenry.
Deep beneath the waterfall which divides the city in two, beats the undying heart of an ancient dragon, thought to have been killed by the first King of Dragonfell. The Rangers reveal that it is their tradition to partake of it's blood in order to gain a fraction of its powers, and our young protagonist has taken her first sip alongside them.
You awake in a daze, as bright light shines on your face from a crack in the wall of a log cabin. You make an effort to right yourself, sitting up on the soft and lumpy thing beneath you. It is difficult to keep your balance at first, but a small hand reaches out to steady you, accompanied by a familiarly small voice.
"It's okay to take your time, the blood can be rough on your body at first, but you'll get used to it."
You wipe your eyes, but your vision remains a bit blurry. You are also horribly parched.
