On a related note, it's been almost a week since last thread.
How was your last session, fucknuggets?

**Trigger Warning**
> Massive autist questions incoming

My only other experience with tabletop RPGs is Pathfinder, taught to me through the DM. (I've never read the books.) I was just there for fun doing my best to play a character and to go with the flow when the dice started rolling 1s all night.

Anyways, I have been reading the deathwatch rulebook, but holy crap; there's A LOT to digest. Is deathwatch particularly loaded, or is that the nature of any RPG? I'm willing to keep trying because the D100 system kicks ass imo. Also, how does damage work in this game? If I'm shooting a bolter and some shmuck, I roll a BS test, and assuming I get 3 hits due to degrees of success, what happens from there? Where do the hits land? and when does damage get applied? Halp ; ~ ;

tl;dr - Run me through a round of combat pls

Not sure if any of my players lurk - but...

Session was great. Was running one of the apostasy gambit adventures where the players pretend to be relic inspectors so they can assess the cardinal for heresy. They got really into the relic inspector roles and forgot they had a job to do.

They also tried to help out with an exorcism in exchange for information. The exorcism went wrong and now Daemonhost - with the players, unarmed and unarmoured, barely having made it out of the room in time while it was busy killing the exorcist. Session ended there.

There's a Sororitas contingent on site, who'll probably execute them when they realise they aren't really relic inspectors and they've summoned a daemon.

Very excited for the next one.

Hey /tg/ I want to run a fallout pen and paper game, I've found Retrocalypse as well as well as Fallout Pen and Paper 2.0

Greetings and welcome to the wasteland!

In this Civ Quest we will be trying to rebuild our own little slice of civilization in the post-nuclear wasteland and all that it entails.

But first we need to decide who shall run this new enterprise and choose what is S.P.E.C.I.A.L (Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Luck) about them. First to three votes is chosen.

>Super Mutants
(S:High P: Average E: High C:Low I: Low A: Low: L: Average)

>Humans
(S:Average P:Average E: Average C: High I: Average L: Average)

>Ghouls
(S: Average P: Low E: Average C: Average I: Average L: High)

>Robots
(S: Average P: Average E:High C: Low I: High L: Low)

And which wasteland should these intrepid settlers make their new home? Again first to three votes decides.

>Bombed out city
(High Tech, High Danger, High Resources, Low Food)

>General Wasteland
(Average Tech, Average Danger, Low Resources, Average Food)

>Nuclear Forest

What is the mechanically best way to represent armor?
73 posts and 11 images submitted.
>>
Hitting a real suit of armor worn over ballistics gel and then using precision laser instruments to determine the exact quantifiable damage done to the gel.
>>
>>43708365
>using ballistics gel
wow what a pussy
>>
>>43708104
Damage reduction. Have accuracy and evasion be a separate thing.

If you swing a sword at them and roll low, that represents the armor deflecting the blow, or absorbing most of the impact.

Hitting weak spots or gaps in the armor and overcoming damage reduction that way (such as with a dagger) is then represented by some sort of sneak attack mechanic, critical hits, or by a similar system where you have to take time to aim and set up a called shot.

The whole reason Synths were added is to finally give us options that can work outside of broadcast range ( the biggest problem we've had for like 2 editions).

Write one of those moments where you did something really fucking cool with your character and felt really satisfied of yourself (and your character).

Me for example today in L5R I managed to GRAPPLE a fucking tiger while almost naked and on fire while a friend samurai cut his head on low level.

I played a character in a MUD for years that roleplayed being from the poor part of town - unable to read and write, not skilled at combat, and generally airheaded and happy go lucky.

Eventually, he was fielded as a royal guardsman for the crown, and gained a fuckload of noteriety for being a generally upstanding as fuck guy, truthful to a fault and dumb as a bag of rocks with good intentions.

Then someone made the mistake of kidnapping his woman. Literal OOC years of training, and nearly a decade IC'ly training in secret meant that he was one of the most powerful combat characters on the server. The Hell that rained down on the man who kidnapped his girl was brief, but remarkable in its brutality. In the aftermath of the bloodshed, his woman decided that she didnt want to be with a monster, the Crown decided it didnt want to be associated with such a violent criminal, and the organized crime of the city decided that he was too fucking insane to keep on the payroll.

He spent the rest of his days drinking silently in abandoned bars, and the only people not afraid to approach him were young kids, who he'd tell stories to until the sun grew dim.

It was a good character.

Congrats on the cool grapple. And hey, magical tattoos are cool, and the fact that there's good art makes it worth it.

One time with a paladin in a Pathfinder game I benignly decided to let a priest of a god of treachery continue his worship in a town, and wouldn't you know it, he stabs the paladin in the back. It wounds him, but doesn't kill him, and the paladin just turns around, quietly admonishes him, and cuts his head off in one swing.

With a short-lived bard, he fought in a tournament and with a lucky crit he managed to skewer the enemy opponent with his rapier and win the fight in one hit without even taking one himself.

Only other time that sort of counts was when my decker in a Shadowrun game hacked a mall door so well he got access to the whole mall for a brief time, and used a giant 90% off certain items sale to bring everyone from a would-be bomb site to the mall. Of course, the moment was marred when he nearly got chased down by two mall cops.

What system would you use to run a game set in 90s cartoons and why?

Toon or Cartoon Action Heroes? The first is for wackiness, and the second is for cheesy yet harmless heroics. But I'd have to look at the systems a bit more to see if they'd fit well enough for 90s cartoon sitcoms (like Angry Beavers above)

GnollHat.png

Gnolls are an odd Goblinoid Creature bound throught the Realm. They are unlike any other creature, sans perhaps Lycanthropes, in their appearance of two legged creatures. Their mind set is strange, savage, and lazy. As such, they have never adapted well to life within communities of any sort or created long standing communities for themselves and few do more than enslave or live as andits until their clans are driven off by small militias or adventurers.

Though, in recent years of the Collapse and Cataclysmic events around the world have torn most towns, villages, and kingdoms to shreds they still survive in their clusters far from the main points of the damage for the most part...yet now they must wander and perhaps start a new place for themselves. Yet where will they begin?

A: The Plains of Black: Known as an Old Battleground pre-collasp, this areas has been the site of countless battles and countless wars in the past with scattering of ruined forts...and perhaps other treasures.

B: The Blue Mountains: Named for the Varying blue color of the stones that make up the mountain's face. Many creatures had retreated to the safety of the mountain range with it's immense networks of caves that may lead to curious places.

C: The Ruins of Wallstanings, a former stronghold and capital city now lays in pieces. Few of the original inhabitants remain as most fled surely leaving things for the taking.

D: Write in.

So whatever game you play, it has what we would call Netdeckers.

What are your feelings on them?

Do you see them as wise spenders?
People who only care about winning, not fun?

Are they good to have, bad to have?

Your thoughts?
76 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
It sounds like you're talking about netdecking as buying cards online, rather than taking lists and getting the cards however you want
>>
>>43706930
Run of the mill dickweeds, it is inevitable. They will do moderately well, but as with all players or commanders that slavishly follow conventional wisdom and are incapable of original thought or deep understanding, will get their asses kicked by someone who does.
>>
It makes me feel kinda old. Back in the day there wasn't really a way to do that shit. I mean, sure, there was the internet and maybe once in a blue moon you could get something reliably shipped, but for the most part you were buying booster packs, trading with people, and figuring everything out by yourself. Nowadays you would never buy a booster. Ever. It's just not worth it when you can get whatever singles you want to tailor to that exact strategy you read on message board #356. Netdecking just kills any wonder or magic the game would've had otherwise.

I'm waiting for the indictor.

I have a question though.
How wasted is a devout on Vindictus?

I'm thinking of using him as my "I'm worried about being assasinated" drop. Which shield guard and sac pawn are fairly redudant, spell barrier is nice. And I could always shield guard the monolith bearer or something.

Thoughts?

>The world has a myriad of sentient species besides humans
>Literally every single one of them except humans is solely defined by one stereotype except for that one special snowflake who's the exact opposite of their race

Why do this? Why would I play a non-human, if that means I am railroaded into one of TWO character concepts, especially when humans can play that concept 90% of the time?

This is why I prefer human-only settings. Even when the other species are actually unique and not just Funny-Looking-Humans they're always a monolithic culture.

This is what scientific talk purged of non-Germanic words looks like:
