Jumpers!
For those of you who build an army, a cult, or a civilization: what is your motto? What phrase rallies your people, and adorns your heraldry?

My friends it has often been said that I like war.

Death or glory time. My jumper vs the World.
Anons, i need help.
I'm playing D&D 3.5 version and today my team killed me on purpose, destroyed and raped my corpse.
I was a human healer, 14 years old, the name's Madoka Kaname.
I've died because i had neutral/good alignement and i was contrary to their plan to kill everyone in the region in the name of Asmodeus.
My team is actually at 10th level and it's composed by a human monk, a warrior orc, a human druid, a human warrior and a thief gnome.
DM said i can create another PG in the next session, and i want to create a PG to teamkill everyone.
We use only manuals rules and i can't use any homebrew.
Please, help me in the sweet memory of a poor girl that sacrificed her life in an attempt to save the life of the population of a continent.
Find a less shitty group of players

I was thinking of investing in a board game, something to play when someone important cancels on a Pathfinder game or something. I played Twilight Imperium and liked that, but we kind of grew tired of it. So, after looking at stuff, Arkham Horror seemed like a fun time, plus if it's any good it has plenty of expansions. What do you guys think? Worth a buy? Fun time?
>>43740304
>Worth a buy?
That is a good question. If you do buy it do not forget the dunwhich expansion. That expansion is important.
Anyhow there are a lot of problems with AH. The most important one is the fact that you will quite quickly learn how to actually play the game. That is, your PCs will revisit the same locations, etc. Not only that but you will quickly figure out what characters to play, the system, etc. In the end it has to be said that AH is basically a poor mans RPG.
>Fun time?
Sure, the first two (?) times perhaps.
It depends. Sometimes it is.
>>43740304
Arkham is awesome. Just be aware that your first 4 player game could be 4-6 hours if you dont use Yig and if you check the rules a lot.
The previous response is by an asshole who says stupid dumbfuck things like "figure out which character to play" as if "choosing the most OP character" is a gameplay mechanic.
Ignore him and all people like him.
>>43740435
>The previous response is by an asshole who says stupid dumbfuck things like "figure out which character to play" as if "choosing the most OP character" is a gameplay mechanic.
"your PCs will revisit the same locations" that is probably my most important criticism of AH. There is no reason whatsoever to go to certain locations. If you do play RPGs every so often with a group then there is no reason whatsoever to get AH as far as I am concerned.
Alright, we know how pretty much everybody in 40k is evil (Except the Harlequins and Salamanders) and it's all a question of if you are Lawful, Neutral or Chaotic.
But, I can't help but think, is there actually a means of worshipping Chaos, only, not to its extremist extent? I mean, is it possible for one to worship, like, Nurgle, as a god of Nature (Decay breaks down the body into its neutrients that feeds new life.)
I mean, I know that this is never going to be addressed in canon, due to "Muh Grimdark only war." But, hypothetically, would there be a way for one to worship the Chaos Gods without actually going Genocidal?
>>43740230
No, because chaos is a degenerative illness
"worshipping chaos with moderation" would be like falling from orbit at a constant rate, to achieve that you should do all kinds of things that in the end is easier to say you're just landing on a planet.
In the same way worshipping chaos in moderation doesn't actually exist, it's called being a sage who observes the nature of the material and the immaterial
>>43740230
Probably. But, as you said, it not really important to anyone else unless you fuck up and summon demons or some inquisitor thinks you are fucking up and nukes your planet just to be sure.
>>43740230
The theme of the setting is crazy extremes. That's what makes it interesting and what people want to see.
That's why there are no 40k stories of a happy middle-class neighborhood on a space station where people go to work and pay moderate taxes. Instead its a hive slum on a dying world under a fascist space pope with insane alien cultists running around. Or something equally over-the-top.
Is it Heresy to be of the opinion that the Imperial Cult is unnecessary and that it might not be the best idea to center an entire empire around a corpse that is alive simply due to a technicality?
Not denying his continued efforts to maintain warp travel and his alleged struggle against Chaos... I mean, you know "The Emperor protects" and all that, but lets not ignore the elephant in the room...
Isn't it time for humanity to see the Emperor as an asset rather than a deity, to move beyond dogma and take charge of our own destiny?
>>43739940
Ah, but that belief in the emperor manifests in the warp, giving him a large amount of his current power and fueling the miracles he performs. To veiw him as an asset makes him less valuable
if you have to ask, then it's heresy
>>43739940
>Is it Heresy to be of the opinion
Yes
Is it evil to make, or eat, balut from the eggs of sentient creatures?
>>43739780
Yes. You are eating a sapient species, even worse, you are eating what amounts to babies, and are directly taking life from the future generations. Pretty evil there mate.
> implying filthy egglayers are sentient
Frankly I find the idea of an egglayer that thinks offensive.
>>43739810
What about unfertilized eggs?

why is Tara the cutest? And how does she play in Ressers? The Nothing Beast feels very underwhelming and I don't see something like Killjoy to just unbury in the opponents face for ressers.
>>43739771
Because you want to fill the hole in her heart. Use Bete Noire for your face smash guy? I don't really know, I don't play ressers.
I'm thinking about buying Rasputina's box for the Ice golem, and electric creations for jihad tactics. There's synergy there right? Or am I just retarded?
I've heard the Ice Golem's kinda shit.
>>43739771
Ol' Betty is your best bet. You can also just take Killjoy, he's a merc. Just gotta pay the merc tax.
And Tara is the cutest because she says "hun" a lot.
Why would people build spaceships to fight each other when it's easier to build spaceships to attach rockets to asteroids and propel them toward enemy planets?
Some sort of space treaty limiting the types of warfare allowed?
>>43739740
Probably this, most space fiction portrays earth like planets as extremely rare. You don't want to blow up something you might need down the road.
Because it's a waste of a perfectly good Planet? Habitable Planets are probably not super common, so instigating an asteroid apocalypse doesn't sound like a good idea.
Ok, so I've been working on a way to use Only War to run an Aliens game. It's done, but it kinda got a little out of hand....
Anyway, here's the first version. See what you think. Any thoughts, comments or suggestions are welcome.
http://www.mediafire.com/view/7dgrsfftz2aa8fb/Aliens_-_Only_War.pdf
>>43739386
A) You can just run Only War, centered around Genestealers.
B) There's an official Aliens TTRPG already.
>>43739456
Yeah, except genestealers don't have acid blood or facehuggers, and the Aliens ttrpg sucks donkey bollocks.
All the same, thanks for not even looking.
>>43739386
Nice work.
>Running a light-hearted silver age superhero romp
>Introduce robotic duplicates of player characters meant to smear their good names
>BEEP BOOP I AM PC! I AM EVIL NOW! BEHOLD AS I DESTROY THIS INNOCENT PUPPY WITH MY LASER EYE BEAMS! I AM DEFINITELY PC AND NOT A ROBOT! 0111001!
>Players find this hilarious and decide that rather than destroy them, they will find a way to reprogram them to be on the side of good
>Players eventually decide they would rather play their wacky robot duplicates
>The game is now about the wacky adventures of the Robot Buddies
OK...
>>43739150
Sounds like you had a good time.
>>43739150
nice. Seems everyone had a good time.
Vault-Tec requires another design for their new vault.
Last vault we designed was on the moon and had spooky Homo-Specops and Nuka Cola made from moon rocks.
All posts ending in 6 are truths about the vault.
Any posts ending with 666 cannot be changed or voided.
>>43739126
The Vault is far overstocked with cybernetic upgrades and autodocs to install them. They also have extensive textbooks on the creation and use of cybernetics.
>>43739126
The Vault is in the Canadian Wasteland.
>>43739126
>Nuka Cola made from moon rocks.
That... doesn't sounds too healthy.
You are Tsukuda Ryouta, a Shinigami trainee.
In an attempt to calm tensions between the two Academy classes, the instructors have decided to organize a tournament. One of your acquaintances, Ryuu, doesn't believe that the difference between the two class's skills is as big of a deal as most people make it out to be... or, at the very least, that's how it is in most cases, excluding yours.
You've gotten the misfortune of facing Takenaka Hanae in your very first battle. According to that same red haired acquaintance, she is elite among the elite. If he isn't wrong, then yet again, you'll have to fight against an opponent that, at your current level, you can't beat.
At the very least, not as a swordsman.
You need to do something to give yourself an advantage. There are only a few days left for you to work something out. But either way, just giving it a try won't hurt; a wooden sword shouldn't be able to kill a Shinigami.
When the real service begins, this kind of opportunity to test your skills may become a rarity.
You've never heard of the person before, so you have no idea of their capabilities. Changing that might give you the edge you need. After all, it's likely that she doesn't know anything about you, either. And, well, there's nothing to really know about you. You're fairly average and unremarkable, as far as Academy students go, in almost every area.
But Hanae, on the contrary, is easy to learn about just by asking around. The trainees of the accelerated class who know about her don't remain without an impression; they either respect her or are fearful of her, and all of them repeat what Ryuu had claimed before - she's a cut above the rest, without a doubt.
All that remains is seeing it for yourself.
>>43739108
It's easy to find her; you manage to pick her out from a crowd at a glance. Hanae stands out with her shoulder-length wheat colored hair and pale blue eyes. She stands almost a foot shorter than you, her posture gracious and flawless. The red and white uniform of the female trainees covers a slim figure, and the sleeves hide the frail hands of a weak girl.
Her beauty is like that of an untouched golden flower.
And yet it's meaningless to conjure anything about a spirit's strength or even age based on outward appearances. The girl may look fourteen, but she could be twice that age, or well over a century old.
Approaching a flat field with thick oaks spread a good distance apart from each other, Hanae finally stops, hand on the hilt of her sword, eyes glaring at a training dummy stood on a pole near one of the trees. It seems that she prefers to train alone - you're out of of Academy grounds, far from where most people spend their time after classes.
Taking a better look, even the dummy is different from the ones regularly used at Shin'o; it's much cruder in appearance and structure. She must have made it herself.
...
>Watch her train for a while. Try to stay hidden.
>Talk to her.
>Other. (Write-in).
>>43739140
>Talk to her.
Let's not start our shinigami career with creepin'

Hey guys, we had just finished dressing up and were boarding the carriage to go meet the lapsionan king.
Let me know when you are here
>>43739048
Miellewds-guy here.
I hope we get to level Miel and Portia, as well as the Harpies soon.
So, the harpies, Tanis, Atruma, and Fahima are part of our Menagerie; doesn't that mean that we can bring them along in our dungeon runs beyond the 6-man party limit?
Since they're technically our pets, won't they get XP without further dividing gained XP from defeating monsters?
>>43739132
yes but only one at a time
>>43739180
So we can only have one pet actively getting XP at a time/in combat?
So, if Eldric is in a party of 6 and the party as a whole earned 6000XP (assuming everyone is of the same level and the XP penalty doesn't take effect), and Eldric's split is 1000XP in a given dungeon run, then we can:
1. Have Nina earn 1000XP
2. Have Nina and Rose earn 500XP each
3. Have Nina, Rose, and Atruma earn 333XP each
Is this about right?
What would you want from a second edition of Pathfinder?
No James Jacobs in titles.
>>43739010
I would strangle every PF developer if they came out with a 2nd Edition. I've invested in something like 25 of their books, I do not want revisions.
>>43739010
Remove the feat clutter by introducing more scaling feats, eliminate most of the garbage that's just there to eat up pagecount with abilities nobody's actually going to fucking use. Vital Strike chain is one feat. Power Attack and Deadly Aim are attack abilities based on BAB, not feats. TWF is one scaling feat, with a couple of its bonuses like Two-Weapon Defense/Rend/Feint left alone. Combat maneuvers only provoke attacks if you fail, and are condensed into "improved/greater powerful maneuvers" and "improved/greater cunning maneuvers". Weapon Finesse is a weapon quality, not a feat. Combat Expertise does not exist, and dodge and mobility are one feat.
The spell list is shaved down. There is not a spell for every situation the GM could possibly come up with, and the ability to polymorph into a combat monster or summon up monsters to fight for you gets nerfed HARD to make it extremely difficult for a caster to do the martial's job with a spell slot. Scrying magic can be hindered much more easily with mundane resources, as can teleportation.
Stamina is built into the core system, as are most of the special options from the Weapon Master's handbook, particularly the fighter's.
Steps are taken to remove "stand still or suck" syndrome from full-attacking classes. Higher level martials gain abilities like passive climb and swim speeds, and all classes get the ability to perform "stunts" (needs a better name) where they blow a lot of stamina in one go to perform some particularly impressive deed. All in all, allow physical prowess to get as epic as spellcasting as time goes on, but in different ways. Rogue gets stealth checks that beat blindsense and shit like that.
Skill points have a minimum 4+int unless you are an intelligence-based class, where it's 2+int. Background skills exist.
Charisma does something on its own and you can't just replace it with intelligence for half a feat.

>Oh Noes! A fire is burnt your entire board game collection! Luckily, the insurance money is coming in! You have 300$ to spend on board games.
>Which ONE game did you have time to save?
>Which ones do you buy back into your collection because they were so good?
>Which ones don’t you buy back because of reasons?
>Which new games do you get to replace the ones you’re not rebuying? You’ve been eyeing them for a while now! (Can be soon to be released games too)
>>43738982
I have too many games to think about all that.
>>43738982
>Which ONE game did you have time to save?
Terra Mystica, so interconnected! So perfect!
>Which ones do you buy back into your collection because they were so good?
PowerGrid, good, well balanced Euro
Inkognito, original concept, you have an ally and 2 enemies, but you have to figure out who’s who first.
Roll for the Galaxy, fun thematic game, + LOTSA dice to roll
Mascarade, my favourite party game so far. If people get into it, then it’s a great bluffing game.
>Which ones don’t you buy back because of reasons?
Catan, it was fun when I got into board games, but we haven’t played it in a while.
Carcassonne, same reason
Agricola… not fun, too much maths…
Rampage, fun the first 2 times, then it gets old quickly.
>Which new games do you get to replace the ones you’re not rebuying? You’ve been eyeing them for a while now!
KeyFlower, I like the descriptions, city building? Route and network building? Auction? Fuck yeah! I find the artwork kinda meh though… main reason I didn’t get it before.
Suburbia, city building + good reviews = good thing :) I’ve been thinking about getting it for a while. Is expansion good too?
Twilight Struggle, #1 on a database of I don’t know how many thousands of games? Can’t be bad!
Maybe Star Wars Rebellion (early 2016) if I still have money and if the reviews are good… looks promising though!
Some game trays/accessories too perhaps?
>>43738982
Jesus christ, anon.
Fast, and with a harrowing line of OP questions?
>What one game did you save?
Either Heroes of Normandie or my Netrunner shit, just due to cost. Or Tannhauser because out of print.
>What do you buy back?
Chaosmos, just so unique and clever.
Mafia de Cuba, hasn't had a bad play yet.
Whichever of the answers to the first question I didn't save
Codenames, best family-tier party game I've played.
Arctic scavengers, as an excuse to get the recon expansion.
Kemet, game is just impeccably well designed.
Melee, this one has really surprised me.
Twilight Imperium, because obviously.
Mascarade, because the art is just incredible. Great bluffing game for bigger groups.
>What don't you buy back because of reasons
I feel weird saying this, but maybe Cosmic Encounter. We just haven't played it in forever. Hell, the punchboard for the newest expansion still hasn't been punched out.
>What new games do you get
Hm. BattleCON, maybe. Or Warfighter for some solo kebab removal. Rebellion does look like a lot of fun, want to hear how it plays with 4, though.
