>A unicorn is polymorphed into human form, and you must protect it from harm for a few months
How difficult would this be?
>>43759604
If the unicorm in human form still has his or hers horns very difficult. Because he or she would be horny all the time.
>>43759604
Why must I protect it, what aspect of it must be protected, what must I protect it from, what do I have at my disposal, etc.?

So long as she doesn't become completely oblivious to her normal speaking voice carrying to the BBEG while we're staying in his castle it shouldn't be too hard.
I just hope the prince is gay because if not shit just got complicated.
When did 40k jump the shark? Personally I'd say towards the end of 5th edition things started to become increasingly silly.
GK Babyharness or Wolfywolfriders.

>GK Babyharness or Wolfywolfriders.
Indeed. On the other hand, 5th ed Dark Eldar release was spectacular.
>>43759574
You'd say wrong, old 40k had genestealer Limousines and electric guitar noise marines. Shit started off absurd and has gradually become more serious business, although it has jumped the shark in the sense that it went from fun IP with grimdark and parody elements to shitty kids game barely maintained to sell absurdly priced models.

Honestly? Pretty cool idea for a magical artifact. Would be really interesting for an assassin/spy to have.
Even if it's just a slightly different version of a generic mask.
Throwing a traveller campaign where the players are a year away from friendly space, to give them the sense of isolation in a unfriendly universe.
I could use some inspiration for plot hooks, quests, etc. Story thread of past space game miadventures? I'll start first.
> Party hired by a agent of the Imperium to covertly bring her to a planet they're going to.
> Her job is to search for evidence of illegal activities.
> All they have to do is give a distraction for her to leave the ship, and stall so that she can make it back on.
> On the way to the planet they lock her in a room on the ship.
> Before they land, they ask the place they're supposed to help her sneak into, if they're expecting anyone. Then proceed to describe her.
> They land and are requested to disarm as they exit the ship heavily armed.
> Proceed to kill a security guard that comes and tries to take their weapons.
> Gun fight proceeds.
> They escape back onto the ship but not before they're hit a few times by anti-air.
> Proceed to attempt to murder the girl who they were contracted by.
> Little do they know, she's psionic and can teleport.
> She teleports, steals a vacc suit, and hides outside the ship for a few hours. She only has 6 hours of oxygen.
> Within those 6 hours one of the crew who was badly shot limps to his room and passes out. He later dies due to his injuries.
> The other proceeds to shoot up the ship's consoles while attempting to lock the other crew out of the bridge, before passing out.
> Well that went... so much worse than expected.
> All the party had to do was go to a nearby system, enter a nebula, and scan it.
> They go there.
> Tell them that there's massive interference around the location. The further they keep their ship from the location, the safer they would be.
> Of course they decide to land the ship RIGHT INSIDE THE INTERFERENCE.
> This of course is right after they decide rolling double 1's should constitute a critical failure.
> Ship nearly destroyed.
> They proceed to complain that the job was only willing to offer 6x the price, or another faction was only willing to offer 10x the original mission reward.
I really hate my core group.

> They're offered free repairs (normally 1million credits) if they bring a alien back to its ship.
> Proceed to send someone who can't communicate with it to accompany it onto the 1 man ship.
> Person proceeds to shove his way past it and sit inside the ship.
> Alien tries fervently to get him off.
> Welp this planned encounter would of occured right after the alien got on its ship so I guess here it goes.
> Space pirates attack and demand they give them access to their computers.
> Crew proceeds to shoot first, causing space combat to begin.
> Their crewman gets stuck on the alien ship as they disengage.
> Alien proceeds to release repair drones and leave orbit.
> Alien planned on leaving to find its people on its ship, so it warped out of the system. With the player on its ship.
I don't know, I just think my players are trying to put themselves in the worst circumstances possible.

I have a friend that wants to run a WFRP campaign, but he didn't like the look of 3e. But I don't want to screw with the earlier edition's percentile. So, I have a few questions.
How's the 3rd edition? Does it really casualize it to a board game? Or just streamline it? Do you HAVE to buy all the components? Does it still play like a typical tabletop RPG, such as being able to use imagination to attempt anything? Or is it really restrictive? What he wants is the Warhammer feel, does this deliver?
If 3e isn't the way to go, would we HAVE to use an official Warhammer ruleset? Maybe there's another system that can give that dark fantasy and lethal feel and just port in the setting? Any recommendations if so?
How much 9th age have people played and whats the general consensus on the changes? Is it to much like 8th or has it got its own flavour?
Why is there no love for the love god?
''While Khorne is a frightful and terrible warrior, Tzeentch's sorcery forces his form to defy mortal logic, and Nurgle is the ultimate embodiment of his own decaying creations, Slaanesh alone is divinely beautiful.''
>>43759022

How can I merge the concepts of Jedi and CHIM together to make a sect of spiritual wizard warriors?
Basic outline:
>they're in a typical fantasy world
>They're a benevolent force
>something to do with a omnipresent magical force("mana" or something)
>They acknowledge both negative and positive emotions/aspects of human nature and try to harness the negative emotions and aspects of human nature to produce something good
>They recruit people at a young age(mid teens perhaps?)
>only people born with magic can be recruited, for nobody can have magic with out being born with it(except for those who deal with demons but that's bad).
I have no idea where this could go.
Otherwise, brainstorming general.
>>43758888
Well, you could pretty easily combine the trappings and organization of the jedi with a more esotoric CHIMy philosophy, but I'm genuinely not sure you could feasibly combine Jedi and CHIM philosophy.
The whole Jedi thing is pretty vague in the original movies, and then in the rest of the Star Wars material things aren't always very consistent, but often quite stupid.
Then there's Kirkbride's stuff which is, well, there's quite a lot to it. Open for a good amount of personal interpretation. And most importantly, it's all bout the cosmology of that one setting. If you're not playing in the Elder Scrolls setting, then a lot of shit is going to be very different. (If you do, then you're a Buoyant Armiger I guess.)
So take a few steps back here, don't start with just trying to smash these things together, instead think about what exactly it is you like about these two things. If it's just "says spiritual sounding shit" then you might want to rethink the whole thing. Otherwise take these elements, put them together within the setting you're going to be using (really important that bit, don't do it in a vacuum), kill a few babies, add some more stuff as suitable where there's gaps, kill some more of your babies, and there you might have a good starting point.
Then to spice it up marinate your brain by reading Dune, Brad Warner's books about Zen, watching El Topo an Holy Mountain, adding a few intentional inconsistencies, or whatever.
>>43759065
>... combine the trappings and organization of the jedi with a more esotoric CHIMy philosophy, ...
That's what I'm talking about. But other ideas would be appreciated.
As I said, the idea is in a primordial stage at the moment.
Hey /tg/, what's vampire biology like? I'm thinking about putting vampires in a melting pot setting, and I'm not sure how to play the specifics. So I wanted to ask what you usually do with vampires.
Do they need to breathe?
They're not usually alive, and can be brought back from with their ashes and blood, so- If they're undead, how do they metabolize blood? Magic?
Does vampirism stops the body's growth?
Who was the first vampire? Can vampires reproduce through other means than turning someone/something? If so, how does that work?
Are they all the same, or are there different vampires?
How intelligent are vampires? How often do they have to feed? What are the consequences for not feeding?
Can vampires use magic? How exhausting is it for them to do something like turning into a swarm of bats?
Can they ingest people food? Can they even taste it?
>>43758747
>No
>It's a metaphor, blood is the currency of the soul, vampires metabolise life force
>Yes
>A progenitor vampire comes about only when a great leader falls to an impossibly profound despair, betraying their followers and drinking of their lifeblood in order to escape their fate. The more people, the more powerful the newborn vampire. Power is diluted as a bloodline progresses.
>There are a few different varieties of similar creatures, but only one actually holds the name 'Vampire'.
>As intelligent as who they were before they turned. They don't have to feed at all, if they don't want to. Results in extreme lethargy, requiring to sleep up to 23 hours a day.
>Vampiric magic is fuelled by blood, but not blood which has been ingested. They usually keep a few vials on their person for these purposes. For this reason, not very exhausting at all.
>Human food and drink turns to ash in their mouth.
>>43758747
>Do they need to breathe?
No
>They're not usually alive, and can be brought back from with their ashes and blood, so- If they're undead, how do they metabolize blood? Magic?
The blood a vampire absorv in his sistem is changed (Magicaly or biologically depends on your flavor) if by magic the act of the bite can be interpreted as a magical ritual for the vampire convert the victims blood once he drain it. Biologicaly works maybe a special organ or the vampires can be like people who have low iron in they're blood (Look it up it's a real disease) and they need to ingest high amount of blood iron, so they wouldn't need to drink blood but would need to eat body part with high iron concetrations like a liver or stuffs.
>Does vampirism stops the body's growth?
This depends to you want your vampires to be a cursed race? Super evolved humans? Or just humans that need to drink blood to survive because their boddy can't produce it? For magical or cursed i like to leave it as stopping body growth and ALL body functions so a female vampire can't bleed when she hits her period. With you want they as a separated evolved part os humanity i don't see the need to restrain that.
>Who was the first vampire? Can vampires reproduce through other means than turning someone/something? If so, how does that work?
Nobody knows it's shrowded in mistery one for the passage of time other for ancient vampires wanting to develop their own power and sometimes shrowded in a vampires culture if you ask a vampire priest of death he would problably sai that he was a god choosen. One thing is certaing what or who ever was the first vampire is or was he's truly powefull. Reproduce for other means again falls on the varient if you want then as cursed demons or a group of humans that evolved in a different way.
>Are they all the same, or are there different vampires?
Vampires are physically the same but with different powers, same way a warrior is different from a mage.
>>43758932
Wait, hold up. If there is both the possibility of a bloodline and a halt of body growth, it means it reaches a ceiling point, then how is that ceiling point determined? Also, vampires can still learn new things, so their brain isn't "frozen" in the state it was when they turn, right?
Can vampire control who they turn? Are there different degrees of turning?
Are vampires virtually immortal by virtue of not growing old? Can they change their physical form?
What do you understand by "generic fantasy"?

As the Rainyas pin you to the floor, and the new power offered by the Ichor settles within you, you realise that with this power, you could visit your father...
Kaelyn pushes open your bedroom door and sees the pile of Rainyas atop you and says in a teasing voice “really? Didn't you two get enough of that last night? I'm impressed at your stamina but really, can the bedroom floor take it?”
One of the Rainyas says defiantly to Kaelyn “We're going to be married, we can do what we want where we want how we want!” Though you can feel her bodies heat up as she blushes.
You can't really see Kaelyn, Rainyas...rear end is in the way so you don't see how she reacts, all you hear is a pause, then she says in a genuinely happy tone “congratulations! Both of you, I'll tell the others!” and then she leaves at a run.
“Go to Hell Kae!” yells Rainya in a voice mixing with happiness and outrage and her bodies start scrambling off you “this is my news, I'll tell everyone” and most of the Rainyas run after Kaelyn, irrespective of their state of undress.
You turn to the two Rainyas remaining behind “you know” you say carefully “I could just tell everyone telepathically...”
Rainya yawns “yeah but this way I get to beat Kaelyn, my way.”

Rolled 4 (1d6)
Alright /tg/ we're going to play a game of russian roulette. The rules are simple.
Call a number between 1 and 6. If the numbers match, you have blown your brains out. If you reply to someone who has already fired, lower the number of sides and the highest number you can pick by 1. If you die, you're out. You can respin the barrel at any time, but you must call two different numbers when you do this. Keeping score will run purely on the honor system.
Now I shall make an arse of myself and blow my brains out: [3]

Eh, I have nothing to live for. 2
So during our last D&D session one of my players bought:
>20x 1 pound of wax (stored in bags)
>10x5 chicken + their cages (1 cage for 5 chicken)
>20 batches of 6 fir planks, tied by rope
>20 Rabbit hides
>1 pound of iron (in bars)
>7 kg of scrap iron
>3 bags of coal
>4 barrels of beer
>4 casks of vodka
Alright in retrospect just handling him the price list and stock exchange rates when he entered that military storagehouse might have been a mistake.
If I understood correctly he wants to sell it all at a margin of profit in the next city.
Anyway how do I manage a player that wants to play Rogue Trader in a D&D campaign. I mean I'm not against it, it's just that as GM it just adds layers of complexity to the game as I have to figure out the inner workings of an already fucked-up economy (why can't a mage just cast 10 tons of steel debate, thank God he's playing a rogue). Any ideas that would simplify my work anyone?
Otherwise general economists playing RPG thread I guess. Share your stories.
Honestly first of all I would ask myself how much time you and the party are willing to devote to this kind of transactions. I mean, if everyone is onboard it might be fun to pòay merchants for a session, but if the prospect of having one player take up two hours of game time haggling while the rest of the party dies of boredom I'd solve it in a couple of rolls to decide what kind of profit he might turn up. It all depends on what you (as a DM and as a party) are willing to invest.
Have him roll Profession: Merchant skill
I've always wanted to play in a campaign like this (less Record of Lodoss War and more Spice and Wolf), but your player might just be slowing the game down for everyone else.
Just give some 5% or 10% increase depending on the next city. Is it near the mountains? That iron won't be worth much. Does it have a surplus population? Those chickens and the booze are going to sell well.
Although I always took the D&D prices for trade goods to be almost standardized prices. Merchants would barter and swap 10 pounds of wheat for 5 chickens.

"This isn't right.. Please let me go back home." The girl on the couch cries. "I'll never bother you or your family ever again. I'll move far away and you'll never have to see me again. Just please let me go outside."
This looks really bad.
It's worse because Mom had to come in and see this display.
"Masami.." She says, I can almost hear the edge to her voice. "What did you DO?"
I might be in a whole lot of trouble.
I am Itsukuma Masami, and I am NOT A KIDNAPPER.
I DON'T KIDNAP PEOPLE.
REALLY, I DON'T.
THIS IS ALL A BIG MISUNDERSTANDING!
"Well?" Mom scrutinizes me. The girl on the couch cuddles her knees while sobbing.
"Mom!" I stamp my foot, "This isn't what it looks like! She's the clown from Fortune! I needed a place to keep her because she was getting in the way! She's just pretending to be all sad and hurt to get me in trouble!"
"Masami.." She seems more irritated than ever. "Kidnapping is WRONG. I can't believe I have to tell you that! Am I a bad mother? Why wouldn't my daughter know that keeping people somewhere against their will is wrong?"
"No! But- It's- Totally justified! We were fighting!"
"I don't need excuses!" Mom puts her hands on her hips. "When all this is over, I want her taken back to her home!"
"C-can I go home now?"
"Stop pretending like you're all hurt! There's nothing wrong with this house! You're just doing that to make Mom mad!"
"I-is that a no?"
HOLD ON, wait a minute. There's bigger problems at stake!
Like how Asai is right outside, in the real world. This place only exists in the 'other world', a magical plane of reality.
Plus, if we're in here, that means everyone in the real world may be in trouble. I don't even know what he's doing right now, and Mom is busy scolding me over this little liar.
>Insist that you're innocent!
>"She's just lying! She was threatening me last time I was here!"
