Your name is Takashi Wakui. You are a sixteen-year old, Japanese high school student living in a world where half of humanity possesses Personas—manifestations of inner souls as demons, spirits or deities. In the past, you had been one of the unlucky ordinaries lacking a Persona. Then a game called AETHER was forcibly installed on your smartphone. Initially it appeared to be little more than a piece of nasty spyware, extremely persistent and impossible to remove.
Then it sucked you into to a realm called the Blackened Void, where you fought Shadows and gained your first Persona--Ippon-Datara of the Fool Arcana, the degraded blacksmith demon god. Now you are the Wild Card of the 22nd Century, capable of wielding Personas of each Major Arcana. Turns out AETHER is more than a simple, reality-immersive game; it is an accursed phenomenon superimposing itself over an otherworldly realm, consisting of vicious monsters, decrepit ruins and glamorous treasures. And to make matters worse, you and several others have been condemned as its chosen Players.

The sharp pain splitting your skull momentarily puts an end to your worrying. Were it not for the wave of nausea that followed, you'd almost be grateful for the chance to pull your thoughts together. You shouldn't panic, panicking never accomplishes anything. You should focus on keeping it together at least until the end of the feast, then maybe afterwards you can try and figure out what on Earth is wrong with your soul, or mind, or wherever this entity was supposed to be living inside of you.
You pull the library door open and try to walk with some semblance of normalcy into the hall beyond, but stumble rather ungracefully on your own two feet and nearly smash head first into the opposite wall. The reason is because "Akagi" is actually a prequel to a "Ten" manga, which takes place... Well, quite many years later, and still has Akagi in it. I intended to make a jump for that and make a scenario there and everything, but then life just... Fizzled, all the inspiration out of me.

I have a month to kill before my session starts, and I'm working on backup characters. I've got a couple so far, but I'm trying to figure out extra roles to cover.
Current character:

Party's a drone rigger, illusion mage, and mundane face. I'm not sure what other roles to cover with other characters. Things I'm considering:

>Parkour unarmed adept (I actually have this one partially statted out)
>Corporate wolf-spider (part decker, tiny part rigger, part infiltrator, all anti-security)
Any other ideas that might work out? Character generation is all I get to do with Shadowrun now.
Pic related is the Horizon HTR for our (upcoming) campaign, Event Horizon. There's nothing documented on them that I've found (corporate security or otherwise) beyond their name, so we ended up having to fluff a lot of it ourselves while in the planning stages. Heavy usage of rigger-style surveillance drone networks (it'll allow fancy tricks like the Barrett through the wall later in the campaign, if need be), PI-TAC systems, etc. More cyber- and matrix-heavy than your generic Knight Errant goons. Internal structure is fucked up, and individual teams got hit hard with Horizon's "everyone is perfect and decent in the exact form we want them to be"; skillwired-up goons with a link back to Horizon's own skillsoft network combined with how deemphasized their personal selves are means you're gonna see a lot of faceless, interchangeable parts. Maybe even the really elite groups having good ol' prototype ware to link them and their actions together to coordinate (see Corporate Guide 104 from 4E if you want to know where I pulled that from).
That's kind of a mess of writing but hopefully it made sense.

But no, women wouldn't focus on powerful kicks because striking without your hands is silly. It's why kickboxing is the only striking martial art that's effective using legs. Tae kwan do and similar styles are trash in a fight. You have to use your hands because they are far more efficient and simple.
Grappling on the other hand, now there's a thing women will gravitate towards.
It's difficult to outweigh the function of mechanics with brute force. You need to be disproportionately powerful or good at technique to get out of a grapple or avoid getting into one, and so women can have a very good chance there.But really, weapons make it a moot point for individuals. Any woman can become effective enough in armor and with weapons, it's just a lot more expensive, time-consuming and inefficient than spending the same resources on training male soldiers, but adventurers don't care about being able to scale up their strategies.
