Hello Elegen/tg/entlemen.

When making my D&D setting, I realized that with enough money and time, a middle class citizen of the Kingdom can hire a magic tutor. I figured if this was possible, there would be a whole class of citizen that is at least somewhat magically adept.

What I want from you is to pick THREE cantrips from the D&D/Pathfinder books that YOU would choose to learn to use in normal everyday life*.

*Tech level is around 1850.

Friend been talking about running a Song of Ice and Fire campaign with the Green Ronin RPG.

He does seem to get a bit salty when I whip up a character with the following stats:

Fighting: 6
Athletics: 6
Agility: 6
Endurance: 6
Awareness: 6
Cunning: 4
Will: 4
Survival: 3
Marksmanship: 3
Animal Handling: 2
Everything else: 1

Leftover 60 points to bump up either two of the 6s to 7, either of two of the 4s up to 5 or one up to 6.
Specialties would probably end up drumped on resilience and stamina.
Also picked Massive, Tough and Weapon Savant, then some shit like marked, threatening, mute or bastard drawbacks or some such shit to make the character even more wretched.

This is entirely possible to start off with an adult character.

The idea was to make a feral child dumped into a fighting pit and not let out until several years later when someone from the player house comes by and brings it along. Becomes extremely devoted to host family, sorta like a dog. I'm well aware with person will be socially retarded and unable to speak properly or function in civilized society without help.
Is this as gamebreaking as he fears it could be? Am I making pic related?

>Is this as gamebreaking as he fears it could be?
Not if he remembers to add a bunch of INTRIGUE and problems that can't be solved with direct combat, but then it will be less "Haha, xXFAGBALLSXx has a challenge!" and more "xXFAGBALLSXx has nothing to do here".

>Am I making pic related?
Yes, but it's easily fixed by giving up a couple points to add just a little variety, and then make sure you make xXFAGBALLSXx have some interesting traits and a sense of personal initiative outside of combat.

Otherwise you're just going to be sitting there fiddling with your dick until your trainer throws your pokeball onto the field.

If you create your own lore/campaigns, how detailed do you like the world's religions to be? What, if any, real world religions do you base them off of? And how do they play into the main story?
14 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>44233882
If there is any religion, then I'd probably put in a variety of local primarily nature-based religions.
>>
I usually just keep it to one god that's worshipped in a variety of ways.

Until one player just ruined everything by asking so many questions I wanted to set him on fire.
>>
>>44233882
If it's a classic fantasy system I go in depth to make some cool stuff. In this case I make "one" religion with a large pantheon. About 90% of the population believes in all the gods but will only worship one as their patron. From these deities I can make tons of holy orders and fun things for the players to run into. These are usually key to the story. I generally make up them up on the spot and try not to make them too much like any real religion.

If it's sci-fi I make a bunch of religions and philosophies that work like modern ones. No magic, but they hold importance to the NPCs. I never make it clear which are correct. This will mean that they have little baring on the story but will be informative about the world and the NPCs if the players really care to find out. In these cases they usually have a mix of Catholics, Evangelical Christians, Hindus, Feudal Era Japanese Shintos, Asatru, and Native Americans.

Hey all, classes are done, but that doesn’t mean I’ll have a regular schedule any time soon. We’ll see what happens, but in the meantime, let’s enjoy what we can while we can.

>Fate Point: 2
>Money: $565
>Equipment Carried: Tier 2 Assault Rifle. Tier 2 Armor. Tier 1 Pistol. Tier 2 Rucksack. Tier 1 Med-kit. Tier 2 Med-kit. Tier 1 Toolkit.

Your name is William and you are cold. Not just cold, but the cold that comes from sitting on top of a moving train in a chill winter day. You’ve probably been in worse weather, you remember sitting through a blizzard at The Compound, but you were inside for that. Mostly.

Thankfully you have proper winter clothing thanks to Koko, which helps quite a bit but you aren’t exactly warm either. Except for your back, where you feel Sarah leaning against you, that’s pretty warm.

You’ve been out here with her for nearly an hour and not a word has passed between you, the initial vigilance now turning into dull monotony as fields of grey and white pass in front of you. You really don’t know all that much about Sarah despite the length of time she’s been with the group, as she’s the quietest member of MMS aside from Cath and possibly yourself.

You feel slightly restless and shift yourself against Sarah just to keep life in your body. She notices, finally speaking.

“You ok back there Will?” she asks you, as you feel her head turning slightly towards you.

Cat people already exist as Beastmen or Wyld Mutants in the East and Southeast. Aside from their own communities the majority of Creation revile them as mutants and less than human. They look it too with a more feline than human appearance. She wouldn't be sexy, but if she has high Appearance she would have the majesty of a great wild-cat.

Backstory wise she can have her parents slain while she was very young, and she herself taken by slavers. Her new master raised her to kill.

You just need to figure out why she's a Solar Exalted.

You know, I just realized something I didn't miss from my old life. I fold my slightly syrupy arms over my chest, sending a ripple slowly through my slimey body. I shiver and jiggle as Kandence sneezes, all wrapped up and bundled under quite of few coats and scarves, including a weird little tail cozy thing.

Yeah, I didn't miss having to stand out side for PE for what seems like hours on fucking end, don't know why I have to be out here, I can't get fit or even unhealthy unless I start drinking weird glowing crap. I groan angrily, feeling teeth form in my mouth and eyes spread on my face before I start to whimper, my face returning to normal. Oh but Kandence has to be worse off than me, I mean at least I'm not semi cold blooded like she is, oh it just has to be torture for her.

A harpy happily flaps her wings to my left, I turn and...wait how is she even out here wearing that? Jesus is she a penguin or something, that's just fucking ridiculous. the girl next to me turns to me, her eyes pure black and...oh she has to be some kind of mantis girl, damn I wish I could have..wait I could have arm blades because I'm a cool slime demon thing, Man I'm great aren't I.

"Er...can you stop smiling at me please?" the mantis girl whimpers, the antenna sticking out of her hair falling over her eyes

"Oh sorry" I say, guilt and shame replacing my happiness as the girl winces from hearing my voices, I turn back to the track in front of me as Kandence whimpers, wrapping her tail around herself as she sticks her hands into one of her coat's pockets.

"Now" WAIT that's dad's voice, oh of course he'd be overseeing this stupid physical fitness thing that I really shouldn't even be at since I can't get fit or unfit for that matter.

My dad walk out in front of the mob of girls, stopping for a second as a good most of them swoon and try to get his attention.

I also notice he's wearing what looks like the bastard progeny of a suit of armor and a bomb suit, looking as bored and emotionless as usual as he raises a card to his eyes and sighs.

"Well, most of you have been in your new bodies for a month or two, or even three" He says with the barest hint of annoyance "and today we're going to be making sure you're getting used to it and how to safetly act around...other people without harming yourself or them, as well as making sure non of you have picked up any bad habits"

He looks up and smiles at me, and I can almost feel the murderous intent of all the girls around me, besides Kandence, who seems more concerned with keeping herself warm than anything else

"So, Get into groups I guess and we'll move onto the first activity" Dad says, apparently not noticing how angry he just made like a good quarter of the school.

What do you do?

Welcome to The Lost Island Quest. Last thread our hero, Alan Rodain, finished his rescue mission, discovered Island orcs had captured a Cerilian diplomat and successfully tapped into the powers of his bloodline. He now sleeps, preparing to take on a new day.

Your eyes open to the sound of birds chirping and the light of the sun shining through your window. You look over to see Ed still sound asleep in his own bed. You made your discovery at around two in the morning so it's about six right now. You quickly settle into your required hour of prayer. Just as you finish communing with The Great Will, Ed gets up and starts studying his spellbook. You say hello before you sit down at the table next to him and the two of you relax into a nice silence as you look over your respective tomes.

You only have three spells written down in the thing, but you're very new to trying to gleam information and re-orienting yourself with the sketches and steps you've illustrated. While Ed goes from spell to spell, rapidly reacquainting himself with moves he's practiced and performed for months, it takes you thirty minutes just to remember the complicated procedure to get the grease spell to work.

All in all, it's a lot like working out. But for your brain rather than your muscles. Like an actor who must memorize his lines for an up-coming play. Some parts are easy and memorable, others are quite tricky and will be for awhile. After an hour passes by and the both of you have succeeded at warming up your minds, you head down to the second floor to grab breakfast. (1/3)
>>
As you bite into your sandwich, you think about your new life. This is the end of your third week on the Island. A lot has happened in the past two months. You're an adequate sorcerer, a novice wizard, you have a modicum of access to the divine as well as some training in martial arts. Although it'll probably plateau soon, you've really been skyrocketing in terms of new skills. You've paid your way into both the Fighter's Guild and the Circle of Mages, you've become a reliable agent of Blackburn's and your group has some small measure of renown in Seaside. You've made an enemy or two, from helping out Father Calloway. And, other than Dolah and Gabby's personality conflicts, you've all become friends with each other.

You also have moved forward in your own personal journey quite a fair bit with this change of scenery. Finding your faith again after having lost it with the death of your friend Tobias. Forgiving yourself for some of the things you've done in defense of your country. Deciding to focus on your next objective rather than freeze up dwelling on the past.

You reflect on your conduct here. Every hard-hearted decision you've felt forced to make accompanied by a merciful one. Execute the kobolds, negotiate with the lizardfolk. Kill Harnost in cold blood to ensure Calloway's safety. Execute the orcs, save Paul and Macarn. You're not a saint by any stretch of the imagination, but you act as best as you're allowed. And you still feel the power of the Great Will coursing through you, so he hasn't decided to stop backing you yet. That's a confidence booster. (2/3)
>>
“So,” Ed pierces the natural silence. “You're a wizard now too. That's, uh, neat.” You nod. “Honestly, that might be a big enough accomplishment to earn your membership for next year if you're able to write a thesis on how you synthesized the two.” That doesn't sound fun, but it beats spending 1000 gold. “You'll probably make it to mage status.” You look at him quizzically.

“Oh, you probably weren't told anything about the ranks either, were you? So, acolyte is you, me and anybody who've recently joined. We're the bottom rung, about sixty altogether. Next up is your mages. They're anyone who has had their membership fee waived for adding something of worth to the Circle or 'the magical community' which is essentially just the Circle. Maybe thirty of them. They take up the fifth floor. Then you have your Circle Magisters. They're the elite spell casters and only the Archmage herself can raise you to that rank. They get to have a vote in the Circle's policies. Currently there is only ten of them and they live on the sixth floor. Archmage gets an entire floor to herself. And, uh, that's it.”

As the two of you chat, you notice that aide of Blackburn's approach your lunch table. You look up at him expecting this to be some sort of message for you. Your expectations are quickly dashed as he turns to Ed.

“Blackburn is offering a payment of fifty gold to any Seaside inhabitants with Orcish blood willing to donate some for study at the Research Library.” Before Ed can really respond the aide nods to the both of you and heads out of the room. Ed quickly glances around the place to see if anybody paid attention to what just happened. Nope, the anti-social magic junkies have their noses in their books, oblivious to the real world.

“Well, I guess I'm doing that now. Have a nice day Alan.” Ed gets up and smoothes down his coat.

>Tag along, go to the Research Library
>Investigate the magical helm
>Go jogging with Gale
>Read a book (Specify)

Sup /tg/, I was reading about Warhammer's lores of magic, and after reading the schools of magic from DnD, I was inspired to generate their bastard lovechild. Here it is:

The chromatic lores of magic, as defined by the Bohemian College of Sorcery, are characterized by their different effects and manner of working. They are as follows:

Red: Evocation. Summoning familiars and firebolts, etc.
Orange: Creation. Using nature to attack, creating familiars, and healing via stimulation of body's natural processes.
Yellow: Transmutation. Buffs and debuffs, crafting, and healing through wholly magical forces.
Green: Manipulation. Focuses on manipulation of natural forces, such as light or gravity.
Blue: Abjuration. Shielding spells, dispel magic, and defensive buffs. Boring but extremely useful.
Purple: Divination. Illusions and mind-altering effects, plus limited future sight and precognition.

Also, there are two other "schools" that are related to the others: White and Black Magic.

White focuses on making things as they should be, while Black focuses on making things as they shouldn't. For example, if someone gets his leg chopped off, a White mage could reattach it, because his leg SHOULDN'T be separated from his body like that. A Black Mage, though, could cause a massive bacterial die-off in the ill, because bacteria don't just stop living on their own.

A spell of a certain colored lore is most easily countered by a spell of the same colored lore, or the Blue lore. Wizards are not limited to a single lore when casting spells, though most choose to specialize in one or two colors.

The eight-colour magic system is not used by all, though. Some places teach magic via a tarot-like system of classification, or even forgo it entirely for geomancy or spirit channeling.

(Please, tell me what you think!)

So it's just D&D magic schools with colours stapled on? Kinda disappointing.

The White/Black thing is kinda interesting, but also so incredibly vague that you could argue practically anything as being whichever you prefer (for example, after getting your leg chopped off it SHOULD be separated, and the bacteria should spread and grow because those kinds SHOULDN'T be in contact with the gory insides of your leg).
>>
>>44230289
It's not very interesting.
It mostly looks like you've assigned colours to D&D magic.

The best part of Warhammer's system was it was thematically appropriate and roughly elemental, it wasn't 'categories' of how to do things.
Something which you've mostly ignored.

the white and black magic is just like positive energy and negative energy in DnD

Favorite miniature gaming/tg/related YouTube channel?

My vote goes to Guerrilla Miniature Games/Ash.
Loads of different games, entertaining and informative battle reports and great background info videos.

My favorite's Ash's stuff, too. I just wish that he didn't do his first episode of AoS with his older WHFB minis; it kinda gave AoS a bad name. But his AoS BatReps from second episode onward have been great.
>>
>>44228537

When AoS got released I watched some videos and pretty much every single one gave AoS a bad name.
I haven't played it at all, I think it might be a neat quick gateway tabletop but all the early videos on YouTube make it look like 10 terahitlers.
>>
>>44228507
GMG/Ash really needs to upgrade his fucking production quality. Those title cards and sequences make me cry.

Also he really needs to emphasize the fact that the channel is supported via patreon much more, I'm sure plenty of people have no clue that they can even support him via patreon. And IMO he could/should totally "lock" some of his content behind the patreon paywall. There are tons of people that aren't willing to donate money if they don't get anything for it, regardless of how small.

Fantasy world has a technology on its own, along with magic.

>Turning out the brigand's pockets, you find a few copper coins, a pair of wooden dice, and a small, perfectly round rock.
They spent the next hour figuring out if the rock is magical. Eventually one of them swallowed it just to see what would happen, and another player sliced his belly open to get it back. The group devolved into in-game fighting, then ooc arguing, very loud racial insults were exchanged, and we're now banned from the FLGS.

It's really hot, there are large stretches of desert between fertile areas, but the lack of overall moisture means the structures there will survive a lot longer. The local petrol sources would be nice but it's not really all that useful without ways to refine the raw stuff. At least there's plenty of easily-accessed weaponry for self-protection... and more. If modern religious sects seen today exist in the post-apocalypse, it might be pretty dangerous outside of what caused the apocalypse in the first place, if applicable.

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, but I was directed here to /tg/ if I wished to read more stories in which humanity endures the odds thrown against them.

It doesn't have to only be humanity as a whole vs aliens, but more localized like planets defeating an entire invasion force, or even a colony of humans just outlasting their would-be overlords.

I was hoping /tg/ had more that they wouldn't mind sharing, either as a screencap, or an archived thread of such stories, or even a pastebin of said works.
