>After weeks of searching through the forest, your party finally meets the fabled Faerie Queen
>She's actually a goblin with a wig
how would your party react?
After failing a perception check, we offer her some goods in exchange for her blessings.
I mean, besides that, does she live up to her reputation?
>>44507906
She makes decent but overrated synthpop, so no.
Guys, I've been playing a lot of Dragon WarriorI know that's not the original name, but I'm avoiding filters here, and now I'm hankering for that old Japanese Console RPG experience, and while I like 5th edition, it's not quite doing it for me. Is there an RPG out there that would suit me?
Needs:
>Class based
>Uses MP instead of slots or something extravegant
>Simple skill/combat resolution mechanic
>Enough depth that building your character takes some thought and reading of the system and actually building, but not enough that you spend more than one, one-and-a-half hours pouring over mountains of texts for one build path
Wants/Preferences:
>Item tree (This sword is better than this sword, as opposed to all swords do the same damage unless they are magical)
>Simple monster creation
>Something that isn't based on d6.
Is there ANYTHING out there like that?
>>44507713
Bumping for Dragon Quest. Don't give a shit about crunch, but hoping for fluff. Got any of that, OP?
>>44508538
Fluff? Dragon Quest? What exactly would you be looking for?
>>44508703
I played and beat the first one way long ago. Tried the second and third, but couldn't muster patience for them. 8 was next, then 9 (my favorite) then tried the one for the wii. As far as I know, the only thing that remains constant from one game to another is the monsters and music. Those are easy, but I want something more like a story plot.
The halflings got guns now. No other race in the setting does.
How does this change your game?
>>44507224
this is actually already canon in my setting. not much changes.
>>44507224
Trivially true in my setting: there are no halflings and no guns.
>>44507224
Its called Arcane Codex.
>orks are stupid!
>they are just a comic relief!
>tyranids and chaos are more dangerous!
>1 space marine can kill 10 orks
Why are humies so mean boss?
>>44507119
Cuz youse a pansy.
They hate us cuz they ain't us.
Because you're just fucking memester clowns with stupid accents.
>>44507119
Kuz they be bad at krumpin tha lotta us!
What are your thoughts on the Hipsterhammer movement? Is it basically the same thing as the Old School Renaissance, but for Warhammer instead of D&D?
the fuck does that mean
I would like to cause physical harm to the person responsible for that image.
>>44506174
I've seen the same thing with Magic.
The thing is, the OSR actually produces content, it's not just a sterile celebration of "muh old days".
Should character backstories be filled out slowly--each little piece of information revealed getting complete attention? Should backstories be revealed all at once with a single powerful narrative thrust? Maybe character backstories are best left completely mysterious; all their juicy narrative nuggets intact and untasted? Or perhaps backstories should be well-explored and known by all?
What is best?
>>44503424
>tasting the back stories nuggets
Ew, sounds shitty op. Back story should be handled slow and sensual- er, I mean, well paced.
>>44503424
Holy shit those thighs....
And I think that a characters backstory should be revealed the way the character would reveal it.
I always have the backstory other players see and the backstory the DM has slightly different, and let the two become closer and closer (Or further apart if my character is a dirty liar) as the game continues.
>>44503424
Generally speaking there should be a reason for exploring a character's backstory, otherwise it's just shameless indulgence. One of my favorite characters started off with a very flat backstory, but over time it was gradually fleshed out until it was something you could really sink your teeth into. Sometimes it's better to just let things fall into place rather than trying to force it.
Can we adapt Star Wars the RPG to D&D 5e rules?
That shit needs to be simplified a ton.
>>44503393
Illl be honest I only tapped this thread to look at Bastillas tits
Doesn't Edge of The Empire exist?
>>44503393
I don't think bastilla was that stacked in the game.
>>44503393
Just play FFGSWRPG
The 1d100 edition.
Make a character's background based off the result of a 1d100 roll. <50 is shitty. >50 is not so shitty life. First make the roll then write the background.
BEGIN
Rolled 40 (1d100)
>>44502417
Well why not
>>44502430
Boring office job for 70 years, then death.
EZ thred
>>44502417
Background? You mean, the whole life or just..?
How come chaos cultists are so often called heretics in WH40K?
Their teachings can't be heretical, considering its completely different religion. They should be called heathens insetad.
>>44500984
saying such seems a little heretical anon are you sure your not a heretic.
>>44501003
I think he's a motherfucking heretic anon perhaps we should burn him out anon
>>44500984
If they're calling Him of Terra a corpse god, it means they are recognising His divinity.
Otherwise they would simply go "Hurr Durr, the Emprah doesn't exist! Look at me I'm a shitty cultist I worship Nurgle by soiling myself".
What's even the point of this race? Everything dark eldars do Chaos does better they have no own gimmick, nothing that catches attention people hate on Tau but at least Tau have their own personality instead of being worse Slaanesh cult mixed with tamer Khorne one.
>>44500549
>Worse Slaanesh
Anon, you don't read a lot of Dark Eldar lore, do you? Elder Dark Eldar fucking laugh at Slaaneshi Cults like they're children pretending to be edgy.
>>44500549
>Everything dark eldars do Chaos does better
You're not playing tabletop, are you?
>>44500594
DE are every bit as bad on the TT as CSM, probably even worse.

Location: Planet Frieza
Information: After defeating the mighty Ginyu Force, Daikon and the others trained for several months before heading to Planet Frieza to challenge the galactic tyrant. Even with Daikon's Super Saiyan powers, however, Frieza proved too much. Savagely beating most of the Saiyans, Frieza was angered by Daikon's refusal to give up, and began to torture the Saiyan before Sabi interfered. Frieza defeated Sabi with a blast of energy, prompting Daikon to go into a rage and unlock further powers.
Welcome to Saiyan Quest. This takes place in the years Frieza controlled Planet Vegeta, as the Saiyans grow in strength and try to find a way to free themselves.
Voting will operate on a first to five system, at least for the time being.
Dialogue is allowed to be added to votes, as are actions (though I'll ignore what I consider shitposting)
During battles, options will usually have a number assigned to them. After that vote has won, players will roll a d100, and have three chances to match or beat that number.
If a 100 is rolled, it is considered a crit success (unless 100 was the number you had to match).
If a 1 is rolled, it is a crit failure, regardless of whether or not the other two rolls are high enough to succeed.
If, during a battle, players want to attempt a writein action, that is allowed, but I am the one who will assign the number to it, so use caution
You're a young male Saiyan who fought in the war with the Tuffles. You've become one of the most powerful Saiyans in the universe, but there's still potential for you to grow stronger.

Power Levels (as of the start of this thread)

Something snaps inside you, and you let out a yell, feeling an entirely new reservoir of power opening up to you as the ground beneath you trembles, chunks of rock are ripped up and disintegrated, and nearby buildings crumble into dust.
Frieza stares at you in surprise and confusion, not sure what's happening. He adopts a stance that will allow him to attack or defend at a moment's notice.
Your muscles bulge, and sparks of electricity crack around you. The ground beneath you begins to sink, and a howling wind picks up as you continue to let out your power with a deafening yell.
You've spent years of your life with these people, fighting together, growing stronger, defending one another, and now Frieza's taken one of them from you, one you've known almost since the beginning. Now he plans to take away the others, and you won't let that happen.
With a final yell, you see Frieza being pushed back by your power, and the others shielding their eyes. The wind slows, the larger chunks of rock drop to the ground, and Frieza gives you a glare as you step forward.
"What's this?" he asks angrily. "Have you been hiding some power until now? Too bad for your poor friend that your arrogance wouldn't allow you to fight me at full strength from the start. How callous of you."
He smirks. "But, if your intent was to convince me to kill you next, then I daresay you've succeeded!"
He fires a beam of energy from his finger. You swat it aside and step forward.
Frieza trembles with anger and fires several more that you easily deflect as you slowly approach him.
He's underestimating you. And he's going to die for that.
But first, you're going to make him hurt.
>A. Attack (50)
>B. Blast (60)
>C. Something else
First for awesomeness!

Much time was spent in hyperspace dodging around the inner rim. You kept sure not to stay around one planet too long. You made sure that your way was subversive and relatively muddled to keep any pursuers guessing. That meant what should’ve been a couple days trip through a hyperspace lane turned into a week and a half of planet hopping until you made it to Coruscant. You hope Lotte has good patience at least. If she finds out you stood her up, well…
Well, Lotte was never one to let things go. The Wookiee thing for one thing.
You step into the machine shop, to find Misri hosing down her Starhawk with water after lathering it with soap and scrubbing out the grease. Of course, that just meant her tanktop and coveralls were just getting completely messy from the grit and the oil, but that certainly isn’t something you’ll complain about. She nods her head along to some music, playing over on her headphones. You step up to her, and then tap her shoulder. She looks over at you, and then pulls off her headphones.
The intense blast of music beats dropping causes you to flinch, but she simply smiles as if she were deaf. “Hey, Rhys!” she says.
“Turn down your music!” you yell. She reaches for her holopad, then hits the volume button. The music quietens down to manageable level. “Goodness, you’re going to blow out your ears listening to that!”
She cocks her head. You noticed in your travels with the blind girl that her cocking or tilting her head side to side pretty much indicated sarcasm at best. “Please, I’ve heard louder back home. Did you need something?”
You nod, rubbing at your ear frustrated. “How are the droids?”

“Managable. Lev’s working the turrets, I’ve been working with R3 on fixing up some targeting programming for him. We don’t have too many spare circuitry lying around I’m afraid,” she says. “But when we hit planetside, I’ll go out and buy my own, don’t worry about it.” You nod. Good, good, that one less money thing to worry about. “By the way, we are heading to Coruscant, right?” You nod again, folding your arms. “Um… isn’t that the Imperial Capi- wait, no. I’m sounding stupid aren’t I?”
“Yes.”
“Look. I don’t know what you and Lotte have with each other,” she says nervously. “But er… is it really a good idea to come back to Coruscant?”
“Rotta is my only ally in the underworld that can get us some buyers for these ingots,” you say. “Vikker refuses to lend me any other contacts otherwise, as a matter of me having to rely on him.” And for that, you do kind of hate it. But you can understand it. Once you gain more contacts, well, people start paying attention to you. The wrong kind of people too. “Now listen, just play it safe, alright? We’re here to cash the ingots, then we get out. No questions asked.” She twiddles at her fingers, whistling a little. “… what do you want?”
“I don’t suppose I could drop my share off at the brothel, right?” she asks. You narrow your eyes. “It’s just… I don’t know what the hell I’m going to do with 27 million credits worth of metal! I might as well give it to the people that… er… took care of me, you know?”
You sigh. Sentiment. Great.
> “If we have time. Yes.”
> “Sure, we’ll go there first in fact.”
> “I said play it safe. That’s not playing it safe. Answer’s no.”

You'll be putting them in danger if they don't have a solid cover story as to why and how they got so much money. IF you can get one, then sure. But I'd advise you keep some for yourself at least.
As you are drying yourself by the poolside in preparation to depart Boand hauls herself entirely out of the water. She seats herself on the pool's edge, scintillating tail stirring the waves in the pond distractedly.
“I'll see what I can do about gathering intel on the nearby Behemoths,” she tells you. “My little birds only fly so far, but I've been developing some contacts in the swamp. Failing that, we could always look around Eluneia.”
That's an option that hadn't occurred to you. “We'll explore our options. Whatever gives us the best chance of success.”
“Agreed.” She winds a strand of her hair around one finger, glancing up at you with sparkling blue eyes half-lidded. “Thanks for coming to visit me. I know we can talk whenever now, but I do still like spending time with you face to face.”
You nod. “I do too. We get all of our best thinking done when we can actually put our heads together.”
“That'd be true if I didn't do most of the thinking for you.” She's back to her old self in the blink of an eye, throwing her hair over one shoulder and flashing you with a cheeky grin.
You roll your eyes. Some things never change.

Hai
Daylight grows wan as you step through the gates of your village once more. The guard gives you a cursory wave as he winches the gates back into position, as much a sign of respect as a greeting. You've become very well known in the village in a very short span of time. Perhaps that's not surprising given the size of the community. Your run fingers through your hair, shaking the last of the springwater from the roots.
Your feet trace the familiar paces back toward the workshop hut on the far side of the main thoroughfare. As they do your mind races along a different track altogether. You are as always beset by the question of how best to spend your time. The figures of Hesheza Zahn and the Magus weigh on either ends of your conscience as grim boulders, lead weights cast with the legend “RESPONSIBILITY” lashed to your wrists. Sparks gutter fitfully from your heels as you stumble over a small stone in the road. You ought to work out a plan of action.
At the very least, your day of rest has somewhat rejuvenated you. That ache for a moment of solitude has momentarily subsided.
You take notes in a small booklet as you walk past homes and trades, dodging instinctively to one side or another as you walk to allow an evening traveler passage. Muttered greetings drift past you on either side as you make your way to the doors of your workshop. By the time you reach for the handle, your page is inked dark with possibilities.

> Do research into the local behemoths. No time to start preparing like the present.
> Experiment further with your totems. You'll need to know the full extent of your abilities to face down the spawn of the World's Grave.
> Return to Azeo Sicros. Zahn likely has some training for you.
> Check in on one of your friends. Quinn and Terra should be somewhere around here.

You are Osyki, journeyman Totemist and first line of defense for your village against the rabid Behemoths wandering the land. Your master, the previous Totemist, fell in a battle against a terrible Behemoth, leaving the duty of defending your settlement to you. After making peace with Hesheza Zahn, spirit of the First Totemist, you have returned home to plan how best to obtain the ingredient needed to properly initiate your apprentices: the vital spark of a Behemoth.

You are Brianna la Croix, journeyman necromancer, and you can evidently swear in tongues. With you is an undead chicken knight, a justifiably angry shankbird, and increasingly tense Hero, and the man who makes the world's worst cigars and cigarettes.
He gave you a pack of the latter, in a little wooden case whose top flips for easy access, and for some godsforsaken reason you not only thanked him, but meant it.

The Mine has an odd mix of claustrophobia and space. The walls are rough but clearly worked by tools; tracks for railcars form natural routes that are all but abandoned. You hear the sounds of work and tools, echoing to and from everywhere, as well as the bellow of massive furnaces from below, in New Hell.
There's even a bit, when the air is just right, of bird calls in the distance.
You make a point of smoking your pipe rather than the awful cigars, and though she's still tense and angry, you can tell that Amy appreciates it. It sucks, having to tell her that her parents aren't top priority right now, but...well, someone has to make the shitty calls with a calm heart, and guess who's wearing /that/ nametag?
You're beginning to believe the family story that says your grandmother proclaimed "VENGEANCE AT LAST!" when your mother announced her pregnancy.
"Okay," Lark says at last. "Is there anything I need to know before we enter Silence's turf? Anyone here part demon or married to one? Anyone here Chosen? Anything that might possibly piss off a sidhe?"
