Alright, ladies and gents as promised, I appear offering forth the starts of a new Lenore and more importantly a Lenore based game. One of grit and survival on everyone's favorite Alien hell hole. So, to begin and explain:
>This is Lenore, but not the Lenore of past threads, it is based roughly two centuries into a possible future where things didn't go as planned. Most of the world is still stuck at a medieval to early industrial state for a myriad number of reasons.
> The confederacy is dead, /tg/ lives on but the coalition of city-states that live there have largely fallen apart.
>the focus for now will be on where /tg/, /k/ /b/ and a several other boards are. This is a large chunk of land and can be chewed on forawhile.
>this game will be using Kartharsys/Degenesis as the base as its a pretty simple straightforward system and suits me fine to use.
That said, without further ado. Welcome back to Lenore.
>>44526625
I'm assuming the waves finally stopped at some point and all that delicious technology long dead, disassembled and decayed.
>>44526625
As with Degenesis the core of Lenore's game will focus around the three Cs Culture, concept and Cult. Cultures are to some extent laid out. They need fluff but they are as follows.
>Tagadem: what was once a vast jungle has been at least in places tamed. A land of strange extremes it was once home to the Confederacy. In its highest days it's men plied the seas and traveled the world. That was a century ago. Now, the jungles push back and the cults desperately try to hold onto past glories.(mostly /tg/)
>Kulda: The northern Forests on the eastern half of the vast northern bay. Here the Merchant cult of the Kventri play games of economics and the eginigmatic Kalashasa monks reside.
>Yanking: The island nations off the coast of tagadem. The coast lines are plagued by pirates that ply the waters from this bustling land. Traders run up and down the coast bringing in exotic goods and slaves.
>Berahm: The lands comprised from the east coast to the mountains and down to the start of the jungles. Berahm is now mostly vast field of orange-gold grass.
>>44526818
long since passed. Its been two hundred years since the last wave.
>>44526840
How about a brief historical update? History will direct the flow and give us an idea of where things are going.
Without an idea of how or why things changed the way they did, it may as well be an entirely new setting.
Are you loyal enough?
>>44526445
Loyal to the end.
>>44526445
Very loyal. For a hired sword, that is.
>>44526445
Oath of the Crown Paladin
Am I the only one that likes to think that XCOM is some sort of pseudo prequel to Warhammer 40k?
Like, Humanity fights off the Alien invaders, imbuing them with a strong sense of xenophobia. The XCOM Marines become prototype Space Marines
The Emperor is the Commander
It all makes since.
>>44524159
Fuck off, autist. 40kids are basically bronies.
>>44524202
You do know where you are, right?
Do you?
Are you lost?
I have the same mentality about the DOOM games.
The game is simple: you post a brief idea about a class, a race orsomething else, whatever, others will respond with 'yay' if they like it and 'nay' if they don't.
And then we start the discussionings.
I'll start:
>a race of old disgruntled robots in a fantasy setting
>they look like rusty 80ies robots with screw and light bulbs
>they all have a magical core, but know little of how they were made or what they are
>they mostly act like little children, but sometimes carry out a single task for ages (like guarding a place)
>It's not a post-apoc setting
a bird

Let's keep it civil. Remember - when it comes to your own games, the right answer is whatever works best for you and your group.

Sorcery and Sorcerous Workings Edition. How have you solved both long and short term problems using Sorcery?
I've been summoning blood apes nonstop ever since the campaign started and now I've got like 50 of them.
Hey, /exg/, I'm new to Exalted and I'm making a Zenith with Supernal Presence. I've read through the rules and I think I understand how the rules work for the most part, but I'm not sure how to properly utilize my Presence charms.
Am I supposed to be instilling an intimacy of friendship every time I'm talking to someone and then use that intimacy for persuasion? The first intimacy is free, right? And where do I go from there, do I just keep instilling it as high as I can for as long as I can get away with it? I don't really understand.
>>44500515
Question I've been pondering about sorcerous workings:
There's currently a massive Shadowland around Thorns. Say your Solar kicks tMoW out, and wants to use a Solar working to purge that Shadowland. What happens if they drop the committed xp? The Shadowland wasn't there five years ago, so why would removing it require spending XP? Or is the implication that Shadowlands are always deliberate, and somewhere there's a necromancer who spent XP to create it (or something less stupid, because trying to simulate an RPG world by making all the NPCs use the PC rules is stupid). If it's that, would killing tMoW remove the Shadowland?
Since we've had a lot of fun with games like King of Dragon Pass, Master of Orion, FTL and the like in the past, I figured I'd try my hand at a cooperative game of Sunless Sea.
I don't really know much about the game other than it's some kind of weird Victorian Lovecraft-esque semi-procedurally generated game about sailing an evil ocean. The basic story is as you see: London sank into some kind of spooky underground ocean called the Unterzee, and that's about it. It's dark, spooky, full of monsters and an altogether shitty place to be. I've only really played for less than an hour, so I don't know much other than the basics, because it'll probably be more fun that way. I know people will probably do it anyway, but try not to spoil too much.
So we're going to start with character creation in a little while.
>WHO WERE YOU?
>A street urchin
>Your urchin-gang cast you out when you grew too tall. You took to the sea rather than graduate to larger crimes. That last big score was enough to buy a ship.
>This will give you a bonus to Veils, the skill of subtlety and evasion.
>A poet!
>Educated and articulate, you seek sensation at sea. Your long-vanished father had a rich patron, it seems.
>This will give you a bonus to Pages, the skill of trickery and knowledge.
>Veteran of the Campaing of '68
>You fought in the invasion of Hell. London's armies lost. You survived. Your loot and pension have bought you a command.
>This will give you a bonus to Iron, the skill of causing direct damage.
>An ordained priest
>You feel from grace. There is nothing left ashore for you. An anonymous benefactor has found this way out for you. Perhaps, at zee, you can overcome your appetites.
>This will give you a bonus to Hearts, the skill of healing and morale.
>A natural philosopher
>Your peculiar theories on time, blood and starlight brought you to the Neath, the cavern where London lies... and now they take you out to zee.
>This will give you a bonus to Mirrors, the skill of detection and perception.
>>44540140
/tg/ is definitely an orphan. There are no poets, warriors, priests or philosophers here. Only neckbeards, Those Guys, faggots and weebs. The outcasts of society.
>>44540167
Fine. You were a street urchin. You've gained some stuff, most notably an officer, the Longshanks Gunner. Also, a new objective, to talk to a girl. Surely this will be a challenge for our neckbearded urchin zailor!

>She's a good girl, but I wonder why she is so popular
She's got the one thing all the others lack: moe~
ITT we discuss demon waifus and imagine what our Archangel waifus will look like.
You are Captain Kusajishi Riku, and the time has come for you to act. Today is the day of Kuchiki Rukia's execution.
“Can you do it?” you ask your nephew as he slings his long sword over his shoulder.
He nods, face set in grim determination. “I have to.”
That attitude suits him well, you think. Isshin could be like that too sometimes beneath all the goofiness, and you figure that beneath the veneer of teenage dramatics Ichigo is basically the same. It's a good thing. He'll need that determination if he's going to survive against a Captain for more than a few minutes.
“That's the spirit,” you nod. “You're not alone here, so focus on your task and we'll handle the rest.”
Yoruichi hands the young man a carefully-folded tan cloak with a wooden Shihōin crest: you recognize it as the Tentōken.
“This is like the wing you tried to steal from me,” she explains with a playful glare. “You'll need it to save Rukia.”
“Thanks, Yoruichi,” he nods curtly. Your eyes narrow at his familiar tone.
“That's Lady Yoruichi to you, young man,” you growl with a wry grin tugging at your lips. No need to make a threat here: after all no threat holds weight with a man already standing at the gallows.
As the sun rises you feel powerful reiatsu from multiple sources and directions. Above you several Captains have assembled at the Sōkyouku, including Yamamoto, Jūshirō, Shunsui, and Unohana. You can also feel two Captains and their adjutants on the move: Zaraki seems to be heading towards your own barracks, while Hitsugaya and Lieutenant Kano are heading somewhere altogether unexpected. They're taking the street routes towards the Central 46 compound.
>Wait to step in to interrupt the execution.
>Head out towards the Ninth Division.
>Follow Hitsugaya. He's onto something.
>Other?
Also,
>Leave the Execution to Ichigo, Jūshirō, and Shunsui
>Send them Mirai and Rangiku as backup

Last time on Military Magical Girl: You, Matsushita Miyako, middle schooler, were attacked by an agent of the Transdimensional Imperial Magical Administration (or TIMA) but rescued by another mage of the Alliance. Forced into the Alliance military, you were transported to the Thirteenth Magical Education Facility, tested for your magic type (Ice magic), and chose your magical device (a jian), as well as assigned your squad (Squad 437). It has been one week since then.
The last week has been a blur for you. A flurry of testing, classes, and practice as you were both tested on your newfound magical abilities and expected to apply them in mock battles against other squads. This mass testing period wasn't new to the others, although there were new trainees being sent in daily as part of the Alliance's recruitment program. Regardless, at the end of the week your every part of your body hurt from exerting yourself to your mental and physical extremes. When you woke up on Friday, exactly a week from when you arrived at the 13, in the room you and your squadmates shared, you found a letter slipped underneath the door. It had the results of your magical and physical aptitude scores, as well as your overall mage and magical device ranking.

Become The Vampire 25
You take a moment to contemplate how you want to respond to Sammy's message, sighing softly and typing slowly, trying to find the right words.
“They were never together, not really. Your mom put on a brave face and a big show, but that was because otherwise she would be all alone and vulnerable. She'd be dead out on the streets by herself, or worse. I know it's hard to think about, but everything else is just a consequence. It's about them. It's about their pain and their problems, and you're caught in the crossfire. I know you don't want them to split up but maybe it's for the best. Your mom wasn't lying to you the other day. She cares about you, and she wants you to know that, she just needs to be able to seek her own happiness as well. Talk to her and really listen to her. I know that you'll figure it out.”
You pocket your cell phone and drag your chair over to the bed, sitting down. Jennifer doesn't look up from her book, she just reaches over and takes your hand.
“You're tense. Did something happen?”
You shrug slightly.
“Potentially. I'm sure I'm about to find out.”
Jennifer's phone chimes quietly and she grabs it, looking at the screen and then at you.
“Can I get some privacy? I feel as though I'm going to need it.”

Same system as Become The Dragon Quest. If you don't know what that is, it's best of three d20 rolls. I name a stat that sums up what you're trying to do, and if I don't name a relevant skill, you try to fill in the blank based on what you're trying to accomplish. “Break open the door” might be Strength based, but if you've been playing baseball after school and there's a lead pipe nearby, you could apply your Baseball skill to the roll. A 20 on the die is a crit threat, and if either of the other two rolls is 20 or higher after mods, it's a critical. A crit fail is when you have two or more 1s. So far this system has worked out well enough. We'll get into combat rules as needed, but in basic terms you have wounds, not HP, and the worse the wounds, the more penalties you accrue while doing other things.
Most Important Rule:
Have fun.
>Head out for a bit, let Jennifer talk in peace
>Stick around for emotional support
>Stay by Jennifer to help back her up on the call

Soon enough we won't be able to even write prostitutes into games.
I'm sure this thread will be filled with mature, intelligent, and interesting discussion.
