literally r/g landfall with marshes and vistas so i can board out swiftspear and board in dro-co against surge of righteousness+silkwrap decks and murderous cut+virulent plague against atarka red and token strats.
should be a good time. i never get to play standard anymore.
Is Ob Nix good enough for anything or should I just sell him now?
We're discussing a group-wide shift to Rogue Trader from 3.5/Pathfinder, and I have no idea where to start (besides chugging through this behemoth of a rule book)

Is it paradoxically more feasible to melee in space than in fantasy?

The first step is for you to masterbate. It doesn't matter what to, just that you do. Now you'll be more relaxed and less distracted and can dive right in to those rules.

I'm new, so my favorite thing so far has been watching a guy kill all of his own shit on opponent's EOT, then pull the last suspend counter off of Living End
>>any weird homebrew formats your group plays?
This one time we played Two-Headed Dragon. Which is basically 2HG except everyone plays 2 decks at once. In a 4-player match. It's as awful as you would think
>>Thoughts on Oath of the Gatewatch cards for your kitchen table decks?
Dark-Dwellers looks rad, as does Stormchaser, but I'm an Izzetfag so I like things that interact with me spellslinging

No, but there are so many things that produce colorless mana that it should never be a problem
Why can't the Dark Angels just stop thinking for a moment about the Fallen and move on?
So some of their brethren turned traitor, boo hoo. Shit happens, get over it. It's incredibly annoying how their every action and piece of lore is invariably somehow related to the "secret quest" of the Unforgiven.
I guess OP doesn't know his lore.
The Unforgiven will get in a lot of shit with the Inquisition if a Fallen spills the beans.
Why doesn't people know for doing specific thing stop doing specific thing? They'd be way better if they didn't do the main thing they are known for!
Jesus man, just play Ultramarines if you want generic Space Marines.
Alright everyone, it's time for our weekly family game night! Anon, it's your turn to pick the game this week!

At least he's being useful. Monks tend to be rubbish at things wherever fighting is involved, so he's avoiding that pitfall I guess. Barbarians make better grapplers though.

Ok so wait. If he's got vampire like weaknesses to the sun, why does he wear a t-shirt and no hat?
And the chick who turns him the one in the dress. Yeah, she is in a DRESS that does NOT cover her legs. Or arms! Or shoulders even! Spaghetti straps are not goo at protecting you from the sun!
I watched the Best Friends Play and I thought the whole concept was retarded. Japan, you have a lot of good ideas, but you also have a lot of shit you should just not bring t light.
>>44660478
You can also be buck naked except for a pair of headphones and still be fine.
It's dumb but fun.
You have always wanted to be an emperor. That ambition has burned dimly in the past, tempered by reality. Now the opportunity to realise your ambition has arrived and you are determined not to let it slip. Now is the time to build your empire and become an emperor.
Last Thread: You are the mercenary spellblade Saul Waise, in command of a mercenary company that is currently forming an empire and fighting off a vampire-controlled city-state. Last thread you began to march on Darlesia and met your dragon.

Rolls are d100 and the best of the first three posters. I may sometimes ask for more dice to be rolled by each player, but same rules apply otherwise. Please quote the post you are voting for or rolling against. Note there are hard-to-replace points that can be used to offset failures in rolls. Additional dice mechanics will be given a GDocs later.

Deciding that you might as well get it over with, you strip off your top. You weren’t wearing your armour so you didn’t need to deal with all the straps and buckles that held it in place but it wasn’t as simple as just taking your shirt off – it was winter after all. Once free from your clothing you find yourself with a little too much female attention for your comfort.
For reasons beyond your understanding Gnome is staring at you with a deep frown etched on her face. She doesn’t appear to be ogling you but the attention is uncomfortable enough as is. You hadn’t done anything too special and you would have thought that somebody such as Gnome would be more than familiar with the naked torso of a man.
Lyria’s attention is as expected however, if still disconcerting. “Hmm, I can’t quite tell at this distance,” she says in what you suspect would be a mutter if her voice weren’t set at maximum volume all the time.
A moment after speaking there’s a shimmer of light in front of you and the human form of Lyria replaces her draconic form. She’s dressed rather simply in red and black fabric one-piece dress that goes to her knees and no armour. Given the size of her form she needs to jog for a little bit to reach you, leaving you under the gaze of an all-too-interested Gnome. Finally reaching you, she bends down and inspects the mark she left on your chest back when you were just seventeen. The complicated symbol etched into your skin is about the size of your fist and sits above where you heart would be – what Lyria is looking for in it you don’t know.
“Well, you’re nearly there,” she tells you, looking a little dispirited even as her voice is now her usual tone instead of the magically enhanced timbre of a dragon. “I’d hoped from what you’d told me that the blessing might be ready for the next level but I’d be rushing things if I advanced it.”
>continued
>>44659138
“What does that mean?” you ask her. “I thought you could do it whenever you like?”
“I can but I’d prefer to wait for when the blessing sigil is full,” Lyria says, straightening up and shrugging. “I don’t know exactly how it works but once it’s full of magic then you’ll work better with the next level of the blessing. If you get it earlier then you might have some teething issues. From what little I’ve read of the old blessings they somehow register your acclimatisation to my magic.”
“Old blessings?” Gnome says suddenly. “I’ve never even heard of a human receiving power from a dragon, let alone binding one as a familiar.”
“I’m not his familiar yet,” Lyria says. “And blessings were rare – there were only a couple formed after Kushan. I stumbled upon an old book from the days of the ancient draconic kingdom where Guelburg stands today.”
“And so you bound a talented mage with an ancient magic you don’t understand,” Gnome says, her voice growing heated. “What if it didn’t work?”
“It did and he’s all the better for it,” Lyria says simply. “Besides, he asked for it. There’s no other path to binding a dragon as a familiar – even I hold more raw power than any mage save perhaps the archmage herself could bind or pact with. If he acclimatises to my power then he’ll accomplish something not seen since the Cataclysm.”
“Or he’ll die.”
“He won’t,” Lyria says with confidence, glancing at you with a smile.
That doesn’t exactly calm Gnome down but before she says anything more you…
>1. Change the topic, asking Lyria if there’s anything she can do while you’re here.
>2. Tell Gnome that you’re willing to take the risks necessary to achieve your goals.

What's a good reward without a little risk?
>Investigative scenarios have been done wrong since the early days of roleplaying games. As a consequence, they’re hard to run and prone to grind to a halt. GUMSHOE is here to fix all that.
>What’s wrong about the traditional way of doing investigative games? They’re based on a faulty premise. Story-based roleplaying, of which investigative games were an early if not the earliest example, evolved from dungeon-bashing campaigns.
>They treat clues the same way that dungeon games treat treasure. You have to search for the clue that takes you on to the next scene. If you roll well, you get the clue. If not, you don’t—and the story grinds to a halt.
>GUMSHOE, therefore, makes the finding of clues all but automatic, as long as you get to the right place in the story and have the right ability. That’s when the fun part begins, when the players try to put the components of the puzzle together.
I've run into the failed spotcheck problem myself so I know it's an issue , but I don't see how this supposed to be a solution to it.
If I choose the wrong skills for the adventure just a starkers if I fail my spot check. Unless I was explicitly told which skills to take in character creation I'm still fail because of random chance am I not? I decided to take forensics anthropology and it turned out I needed forensics entomology instead.
>>44658667
Gumshoe is not a solution to anything. It is an alternative to other game systems, as long as you're fine with mediocrity.
>>44658667
Several Gumshoe games come straight out and say to make sure every investigative skill is purchased by the party.
>>44658667
>If I take the wrong skills, I don't progress
Not how you structure a Gumshoe investigation.
If you read the GM section of any Gumshoe based book, you'll see that their adventures are structured around a "skeleton" (the very core, basic aspects of the adventure) with other stuff being optional floating scenes (things like NPCs you might interact with but dont have to, alternate ways a scene could go, how an antagonist might try to hamper the investigation).
The skeleton is basically a series of scenes you could go through on autopilot because the Core Clues that lead from Skeleton Scene A to Skeleton Scene B are all zero-point spends. That means anyone can find them and any party can get the basic story. Think of it like a "soft railroad" - it's not actively forcing you to follow the path but there isn't really anything off of the path.
Point spends are for a) "bonus content" (added insight into an NPC, more information about this weird artifact etc) which feeds you back into the Skeleton scenes b) acceleration (ie, getting you information that lets you skip a step in the Skeleton) and c) making your character look cool.
>>44659029
That's advice for GM's when writing the scenario, and it's more "make note of what skills your characters have so that you can make sure the guy with Art History gets a chance to spend Art History".
Been looking to get into DnD for years,
A local card shop has people play every week think i might try.
My question is, are there "best" characters or classes?
What are your favorite characters to play and why?
What are some of the best characters you've played with over the years?
>My question is, are there "best" characters or classes?
>What are some of the best characters you've played with over the years?
You keep using that word.
Please define "best"
>>44658541
I suppose i would mean survivable or versatile
>>44658610
"Fun" might be another word but even more ambiguous

Shattered Mirror is in Path of War: Expanded.
If any DSP devs are reading, can I multiclass (or gestalt) medium with Living legend or host of heroes?
Can I multiclass host of heroes and living legend and then metaforge?
IF these multiclass options are open, do I have to have the same spirit/legend going or can I have different, such as having an archamge as my protagonist and an overmind as my monomyth?
Long time since I did this...
