Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkword creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.
They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.
You are Ryoji Shida. A transfer student and delinquent who ended up in the school by mistake, with no fighting ability, but you may have a stronger connection to the Darkworld than thought possible.

You went to a festival in town, and came to terms regarding your feelings for a certain member of your class.
“She has brown hair, Ryoji. You can stop staring at the back of her head now.”
It's the last class before the end of term. Most of the class are looking forward to a summer break with no Darkworld to worry about, and are equally excited for the end of term dance the school has decided to host tonight. You however, have found yourself with two huge concerns. The first concern is the shadowy hooded figures who have been spying on you and Alice, coupled with their connection to Sayeka's vision of mass death and destruction. Definitely the more worrying of the two concerns, albeit the more vague. The second concern is much closer to you right now... in fact she's sitting at the front of the classroom. Saki... after going from hating each-other to only pretending to hate each-other to liking each-other to becoming best friends... there's been a new development in your relationship with the head of class. One that's left you unable to take your eyes off her, and apparently your friends have begun to notice, as Rini's comment breaks you from your trance.
“Sorry... just daydreaming.”
“I wonder what about,” Rini replies coyly.
You lean and whisper to Kosuke. “Hey, I don't want to alarm you, but I have some bad news.”
Kosuke turns his head to face you. “Go ahead.”
You hesitate to spit it out. “It looks like I might have... feelings for Saki. The romantic kind.”
Kosuke's expression remains the same. “Yes... and what's the news?”
You raise an eyebrow. “What, you knew about this?”
“The whole school caught on long before either of you did!” Rini fires back, listening in on the conversation. “Akio started a betting pool on how long it would take before one of you figured it out.”
“My money was on slightly before graduation,” Kosuke chimes in.
“And my money was on never,” Rini replies. “You realising it before the end of first term puts us out of a lot of cash.”
“Don't worry, we still have the pool on how long it takes for them to actually get together. My money's still on slightly before graduation.”
“And mine's still on never,” Rini laughs. “Face it, the two of them are too different. It's fun to imagine what it would be like, but it a relationship wouldn't work in reality.”
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Rini.
“Besides, Saki'll probably stay celibate her whole life,” Rini jokes. “Seems her kind of thing. If the whole following her Grandpa's footsteps thing doesn't work out, she'd probably become a nun or something.”
The bell rings marking the end of class and the end of term. “Well, that's it for us,” Akihito adresses the class. “Enjoy your summer children. The recent events have blessed us with great fortune, and we'll all be able to spend our summer's the way we were supposed to. Go on vacation, go to the beach, live your life! You've all earned it. Even Ryoji.”
Damn, why did he have to single you out? Oh yeah, because he hates you. Screw him, you've pulled your weight plenty around this dump. Just because you didn't attend classes, broke all the rules and mouthed off to the staff doesn't make you a bad student!
As term ends, Saki rises from her chair and makes her way over to your desk. “You guys excited for the dance tonight? I've already picked out my finest suit-”
“Don't you mean dress?” Rini asks, cutting her off.
Saki laughs. “A dress? No, this is a formal dance, and I'm going to dress as formally as possible! What's your plans for the dance, Ryoji?”
Oh god, is she talking to you? Why are you panicking? The two of you talk all the time! But that was before you recognised these feelings, and now... dammit, how did you talk to her before? You should remember how the usual conversation with Saki would go, right? Act natural, or it'll be weird! She can't catch on that there might be something up!

After that battle the other day, things had been eerily quiet in terms of detected Fog activity. Also, you've found out the the televisions in the rooms play live footage from the drones on scouting duty, which has mostly been open ocean for all that you've watched of it.
The next morning, as you flick between these cameras, you see a flash of light, not firing at the camera. You stop flicking through channels, and look closely. The Fog ship is an Atlanta class Light Cruiser.
You strain your eyes slightly trying to see what the Fog ship is shooting at, and can faintly make out there being a Shipgirl there...

This is to make the play-through interesting and unpredictable.

Basically there are two rules:
- The first pokemon you see in any encounter area is the only one you may catch in that area. Any subsequent pokemon you see, whether you caught the first one or not, may not be caught.
- If a pokemon faints, it must be released. Consequently, losing a battle amounts to losing the game and having to start over
I also have some house rules:
- You have one emergency redo (in case of some unfair fuckery from the randomization)
- In-game trades do not count against rule 1 (meaning you may participate in them at anytime)
- Power-leveling must be kept to a bare minimum (not trying to do a low-level challenge here, but lets say the hard limit is the current gym-leader's highest leveled pokemon).

Last time, we told the truth to Lyann, and she believed us after a bit of effort. Originally she thought we were a bit touched in the head at first, but then believed us when we asked her wholeheartedly to do so.
It seems we need to find some land for the honeybees to call their own before they can be seen as people at a subconscious level.

Totally unrelated, but I started a new quest on weekend nights called Mechs & Dragons using the d20 Past/Moder/Future/Urban Arcana books where a mech pilot ends stranded in an alien world.
As Im sure I've told you guys before, I like to use the same NPCs in different games so the players have a basic idea of who they're dealing with.
They know Lyann is smart, Mako is gentle, Stella is a handful, etc. Currently having trouble making Zoe, to be honest. If you guys know something about the system, please give recommendations.
I ended up making Stella using half-ogre racial mods, and just placed a Beastkin tag on top. Not sure what to do for Zoe since I want them both to be basically cops.
Gonna post Stella's sheet as a sample.
I haven't decided on the season finale for that quest. Thinking it may be any of the following.
> As the MC and company are relaxing after their adventure, his mech gets a signal. A ship is approaching. Rescue is at hand!? The MC has to choose to hail the ship or not. Right now he probably has a pretty nice and comfy life and his mech's date says he was in stasis for over a million years so its not as if he has someone to go back to. But does he want to spend the rest of his life in a 'primitive' corner of the galaxy, or does he want to go back to the greater galactic community?
>The 'rescue' ship turns out to be a Star Ranger Cruiser ship. The world is a "preserve world" which isnt meant to join the galactic community until they develop to a certain point, a la Star Trek. The officers on the shop are coming to question him. The officers are Stella and Zoe.
As of right now I still havent decided if they will be knights of the country the MC is in, or Star Rangers (basically Texas Rangers in spaaaaace)

After the embarrassment dies down and Carrera isn't blushing that much any more, it feels safe to speak again.
“So, you're with us?”, you then ask, just to make sure that both members of the couple are on the same page about joining you on the journey. Julio was giving it for granted, it seems, but Carrera has thrown quite a few mixed messages in.
“Yes”, the dog-eared woman admits, a single wag of her long-haired and wavy purple tail signaling she isn't as unhappy about the situation as she might sound, “I just have to prepare. I've hardly ever explored, methodically I mean, so I need to make sure I have everything I need before I leave. You weren't planning on leaving today, were you?”.
“Not really”, you reassure her. Technically speaking, you're not in a hurry, the marquise wanted you to do one thing as soon as possible and you already took care of it, meaning you are, once again, master of your own destiny.
Which feels good. Sure, it's not always easy but it's so much more satisfying when it clicks.
“Well then”, Carrera announces with a smile as she gets up, “We'll go and get ready and we can meet again this evening, at sundown? We'll have a meal together too if you're okay with it. Julio?”.
“Looking forward meals is the best pastime in this camp!”, he explains with a bright, innocent smile.
“You should seriously try to be more helpful”, she reprimands, then offers you a vaguely conspirational smile, “He gets away with being lazy, but it's an unwritten camp rule that if you have time on your hands you should do some chores”.
“That's surprisingly organized for this place”, Tahenohan comments, strangely eager, “I can make cheese. I need to make cheese actually. Can I help?”.
“Uh... I think everyone will like it if you can cook and stuff”, Carrera gives you an uncertain glance but you can't quite openly say it's just an excuse she uses to craft her undead minions, so you just shrug. Besides, she actually does make cheese, so it's win-win, you guess.
“Great! Wanna look for cheesemakers together?”, Tahenohan offers Julio, who carefully considers the option as if he just received a life-changing proposal.
“Yes”, he answers, and with glee the two half-elves just go about their business, chatting along the way.
“They sure are getting along as easily as I imagined”, Bryld comments as she watches them go, “I don't know why but I feel good that I guessed right”.
Carrera chuckles, “Well yes, I... I don't know how long you've been with her but I think all half-elves just instinctively get along with each other. But well”, and she steps out, ready to leave herself, “I concentrate better when he's not around so thank you. I'll prepare for the journey, we'll see each other for dinner and discuss the rest, okay?”.

You are Keira, a 25 year old Sandslash, former dockworker, currently a sailor heading for St. Valders. Sadly the ship you were on has been and is still in, a rough storm- causing you a light injury to the stomach. After talking Bluetail into getting out of the storm and hope nothing goes wrong, he leads you to his cabin.
Once the two of you get into his cabin, he sits you down on his cot while he cleans up the rather messy room- which didn't really do much considering the ship was still rocking back and forth quite vigorously but not enough to tip it over or cause incredible damage.
As you look around the room, you wince as your injury slightly acts up. It may be a slight cut to the stomach but the saltwater had soaked the bandages and was seeping in, stinging you- even though you know it's helping you in the long run.
Once Bluetail was done tidying up, well tidying as much as he could, he walked over to with two bottles of whisky, one for him and one for you.
"So... that cut isn't too bad is it?"
"Hurts ba' its nothin' ta' worry about. Feeling sick? You were in tha' rain awfully long."
"Not in the slightest. It helps having a Water-type for a father. Explains why I love the sea really- it may not like me but I love it. The sense of freedom and the great feeling that you're on a grand voyage... sadly most of my journey's have ended with my crew quitting because every single time I go out, a storm tends to hit us."

You look to Blowout, who is already skirting around the front of the car to the passenger side.
“What the fuck?” you ask incredulously, an edge of acrimony in your tone, “she’s one of them!”
Blowout opens the door and starts climbing into the slick red car, stopping halfway in to call over the roof in his characteristic jovial tone,
“Don’t worry so much Blindside, you’re going to get an ulcer.”
The obnoxious blue and orange helmet disappears behind the car, and you hear the passenger side door slam shut.
“Are you gonna keep drooling like an idiot, or are you gonna get in?”
Redline’s snide remark rubs you the wrong way, prickling at your already agitated psyche. You pace back and forth for a moment, fuming. Redline’s ride squats next to the curb like a hunched up beast preparing to lunge, vivid neon and pale streetlamp light casting it in an ethereal gloss. With a shake of your head, you pull open the door with a jerk and slide into the back seat.
“Bout time,” Redline grumbles as the car jumps forward, accelerating to full speed in a flash.
The interior of the car is done up in black, from the leather-style seats, to the floor and ceiling, accented by red piping and lighting in a way that makes it appear as angular as the exterior. The backseat is surprisingly spacious; legroom has traditionally been a problem for you, but you find ample room to stretch your sore and bruised legs. Outside the blacked out window streetlights and storefront signs whip by, blending into a smudge of mottled lambent colour. You turn your attention to a more pressing matter.
“You mind telling me why we’re riding with a Red Boy Blowout? Did you forget that her boss,” you jab a finger towards Redlines, “is trying to kill me, and probably you too?”
Blowout waves dismissively without turning to look back.
“Blindside, man, trust me okay? She’s cool.”
Your lip twitches in time with your eye and sharp intake of breath. You’re getting real damn tired of not knowing what’s going on.

Previously, we dawdled around the goblin caves, met up with Aalna, finally fucked Vanyal (with Nellia as the wingman) and are currently in what appears to be an abandoned part of the caves where Galla was, for some reason.
