In a total Dark age reverted SHTF scenario do you think we could re-discover/invent the musket? Or would we be able to catch up to our modern firearms quicker? Or there's the true shit scenario of reverting to blades and bows again.

the tech wouldn't be easily forgotten. the idea of gunpowder weapons would resurface quickly. modern firearms would come along at the same time as modern machining was re-introduced. blades and bows would be relevant as long as materials and resources were scarce

going back to black powder would not push us so far back as the musket, what you would see is a greater reliance on blowback weapon systems as opposed to gas operation, blowback and recoil operated systems can function dirtier than a gas operated system. they are usually heavier or require a system like the g3 that uses a delaying mechanism (roller delay in the case of the g3) to allow for the chamber pressure to drop to safe levels which would be lower in the case of BP. effectively making guns like the AR15 less than usable but guns like the g3 more practicable.

God I love the design of flintlock rifles, if only somebody can keep that design and maybe turn it into a bolt action or semi auto. I'd fucking buy a million of those. But just keep that look, all I ask for.

Could someone explain to me why promag is shitty? I've never had a problem with them, even the forty round mag. That monstrosity is just fun to use, can't use the bayonet though.

Promag mags are manufactured poorly using shitty materials. If you took that mag apart, you would probably find the that the follower sticks once or twice and that the edges of the feed lips, sides of the follower, etc. are sharp. These are all bad things. All removable SKS mags are shit too.

Shotgun, rifles, pistols, revolvers?
Get a Smith & Wesson M&P shield 9mm or .40 either is good. 9mm probably better for a first gun but I don't know you. The shield is good too because if you decide to get a CCW it's perfect and it's also good for going out and shooting targets.

why did the 1911 outlast all other pistols being produced after ww2? There were some great ones from a lot of different countries and at the rate of how many 1911s are produced from different companies, why didn't other pistols get the chance?
I would have loved to see p38s or FNs have the same production today

Because those other countries don't have a domestic gun culture. Half of them were communist for 45 years too.
Because JMB pioneered many of the aspects that are still used in handguns today.
The patent ran out, so anyone can make it. Thus the popularity of production.
The other sides lost, therefore their production was disrupted, they fell behind the iron curtain, or they had un-modern designs like the Webley revolver.

If you've never shot get a .22 of some kind. Learn the barebones basics of shooting. Then move up to something bigger.
Cheap surplus is okay for putzing around, if you're serious look into something like a Savage bolt gun. If you want a semi auto, the default lowest common denominator would be something like an M&P sport AR. Or you can part one together. They're generally cheap.

School me on the Walthers, primarily the PPS and maybe the CCP. Do they really have the smoothest and best triggers on a single stack 9mm? I admit I kinda slept on Walther because of the shitposting and because they're just not as popular as Glock or S&W but I'm looking into them now.

You got it mixed up.
The person has to feel threatened by the Rifle and then sue for assault.
Battery is when the rifle physically makes contact with the person.

More of a military classification. ATF doesn't classify assault rifles as far as I know, because any select fire is a machine gun, so that would just leave public opinion, which basically means scary gun that has the aesthetics of a modern military small arm.
