There's a recent acquisitions thread but no thread to talk about what you're planning on getting next. Post what you want, ask questions to figure out what you want, rate each others taste, make suggestions, whatever.
Currently saving up for a post 2013 Marlin 1895GBL (pic related) with XS Leverail Ghost Ring sights, and some sort of Leopold glass. I was thinking a FX Scout 2x or 4x (dad's recommendation) on raised rings so I can still use the XS irons, but I think I'd prefer a variable sight.
Trying to keep it all around $1000-1200, looking at $650-700 for the gun and irons/rails, but when it comes to glass and rings I'm not the most informed. I was looking at Leupold V3i series but any suggestions are more than welcome.
On a finishing note this is not a dream gun thread and I'm sorry if the image is low quality, it hard to find pictures of the 1895GBL.

If you look at the close up pictures, you can see damage to the metal underneath the finish, which is a sign of either rust or deep scratches/dings to the metal, and diminishes the value because when someone does try to refinish the gun in black polycoat, it will always have those dents showing through. So, it could never be refinished to look 100% ever again. I do kind of wonder about the gun's history and when it came into the country, though, since it appears to be a police trade-in, but it lacks import marks. Or maybe the import marks were filed off at the time of refinish? Either way, something seems odd.
Well I don't know how much you all have heard about this area, but it seems to be definitely heating up. I myself have just recently began looking into it. I have no knowledge whatsoever about naval warfare or how air warfare would go between powerful nations. I have an idea of what I think would happen but not sure how it'd actually go. If you could offer some books or videos of how it'd be expected to go then please do. I assume it will be WW2 strategies with extreme tech? Still not too familiar with that so please give suggestions
As I said, I've only been eyeing this topic for the last couple of weeks and am interested more and more. Anyone who has been watching it for a long time please give me a better idea of what is going on. I am talking, how many islands each country has/is setting up. Maps of bases and where ships are being held. I intend to try to figure that out on my own if no one can offer that. I used to go to /pol/ but now I rarely even open the chans. I don't know any avenue to even go into with this because well no one offline even knows about this past the one island china is building.
