Hypothetically yes And no...
Yes in the sense that if you find the right candidate with the right family health history, no health problems, etc. then it could be viable.

No in the sense that it would cost alot more than just training lower class kids trying to make money for college.

No in the sense that even with different experiences in combat and training they might miss out on something that a different parented clone.

No in the sense that you might end up with the same problems with each and every clone (anger problems, future medical etc.)

Pretty much if you want to wage a large scale war FAST, and can implant the knowledge, training, and expertise fast enough... honestly i cant see any reason for a clone army other than an insanely low population and clones dont live long, or a very anti-war population and your under imminent threat, or you want to wage a secret war and for that you need disposable soldiers.
>>
>>29529154
diversity has its advantages. one weakness menas they all have the same weakness.
for example, if your clone was for whatever reason especially susceptible to say, disease X, your army is fucked.

Alright /k/ first post.
I know the mosin nagant is a memegun. I asked a coworker who is into guns if I should get one and he said it was ugly, shitty, old, and the ammo is harder to find because its all surplus. Is the mosin actually bad if I want to get into guns? What other guns have comparable stats within its price range?

>I know the mosin nagant is a memegun.
only recently have shitposters begun calling it that
>I asked a coworker who is into guns if I should get one and he said it was ugly,
subjective
>shitty
it varies, but usually they're fine.
>old
irrelevant when it comes to firearms generally
>and the ammo is harder to find because its all surplus.
Several companies are producing new ammo, Privi, Hornady, Wolf, Seller&Belliot (or however thats spelled) and recently Century Arms under the "Red Army Standard" brand, among others.
>Is the mosin actually bad if I want to get into guns?
First gun? get a .22 rifle, then maybe.
Shot before, but never owned? Then yes Mosins are great first rifles. Ammo is cheap enough still that they're good for target shooting (though dont expect to win any competitions), and great for hunting as well since its basically the same size round as a .308/7.62x51 NATO.
>What other guns have comparable stats within its price range?
Currently? Mausers are a good alternative, Yugo M48's are close in price, and there's a fairly large Mauser aftermarket if you want to sporterize it and trigger 90% of /k/. Mauser ammo is fairly expensive though, 60 cents to a dollar a round depending upon what you shoot (compaired to 35-60 cents for mosin ammo)
If you want to spend a little more, then Enfeilds are good surplus bolt guns, though not as easy to find (in large quantities) as mosins or mausers. However they also have expensive ammo ($1 a round usually) and you're basically in the cheap AR-15 price range by then.
>>
>>29529064
>stats

Get an SKS while you can. 7.62x39 is cheap, non corrosive and available everywhere. My Mosin sits collecting dust. You'll get more out of an SKS especially because it sounds like you're a slavaboo.

>only recently have shitposters begun calling it that
you mean people who got tired as fuck of slavaboos screaming about them up and down /k/ a few years ago, It's a horrible first gun, and its still a bad gun for milsurp because now they're just as expensive as mausers, and price was the only advantage they ever had to begin with, so fuck off.
>subjective
not subjective when they were literally thrown together at the last minute because the soviets couldnt make sub guns fast enough, and the stripper clips are literally shit compared to other guns, hell compared to all over bolt guns of the era, they compare pitifully.
>Several companies are producing new ammo, Privi, Hornady, Wolf, Seller&Belliot (or however thats spelled) and recently Century Arms under the "Red Army Standard" brand
and all of those brands are hard as fuck to find in store unless you find some online and are literally double the price of what the surpo ammo used to be (the shit slavaboos said would never run out but is now)
>Shot before, but never owned? Then yes Mosins are great first rifles. Ammo is cheap enough still that they're good for target shooting (though dont expect to win any competitions), and great for hunting as well since its basically the same size round as a .308
you can get a budget hunting rifle with a budget scope for cheaper than you can a mosin now, and it will be way more accurate and easier to feed, not to mention better made. Also soft points for mosins are near unobtainable unless you get them offline and even then they're sub-par.

Mosins are bad, no two ways about it, do i still like them? yeah they're a piece of history but that doesnt excuse how over-hyped they once were on this board and how terrible they are for the money.

Get a K31, Lee Enfield or etc. if you want a decent surplus gun.
Get a Remington 783, or savage axis if you want a cheap hunting rifle
and please, get a .22 bolt action before you step into a full size rifle if its your first time OP

Curious whether or not you'll get shit for the vape. I quit smoking and switched to vaping (again) almost a month ago, longest time I've quit yet and I have no urge to start again.
>>
>>29529077
I tried it once, didn't like it. Tried it again with a new mod and now I like it. Apparently I'm a weenie who likes his vapes at 200 degrees.

Outside of vaping the only thing I can occasionally smoke anymore is BLACK cloves cigarettes or an occasional cigar.
>>
>>29529132
Split a pack of American Spirit Light Blue's (still full flavor, only difference between dark blue's is organic vs. non organic tobacco) a day with the girlfriend, had tried vaping quite a few times but she never liked it and I couldn't be fucked to constantly drip and re-wick.

I've got an RX200 and Griffin tank now with Clapton coils in it and couldn't be more satisfied. I make my own juice so it's not loaded full of sucralose and chemicals which in turn means I don't have to ever change coils or re-wick. Have had current coils/wick in there for almost two weeks and they're still as clean as the day I put them in.

I had that happen. I had just ETSed from 3/75 and joined an NG LRSD. We had a 52 mile hump to McChord AFB. We were cruising along until fat Gomez, SSG type, 1 each, began huffing. He told me and another ranger sergeant to slow down - that we were no longer on active duty. We told him to suck it the fuck up. We were not disciplined. He tried to maintain pace and damn near had a heart attack. That SSG was a total fuck up.

Once, during an infil, we were rappelling in. We were all clear except for him. He somehow got the rope twisted in his carabiner. It was supposed to be a stealth insertion. Instead, due to his lack of diligence, we were completely compromised. We did our best to untangle him. The load master thought we were clear. The chopper started to lift off and we had to scream for him to halt. What a complete nut fuck. After we got him back on the ground and free from the rope, we ran like we stole a television. The enemy was right on top of us but we were lucky to get away.

Sounds like a specific tendon cramp.

Shit is weird.

Looking to enlist in the army and go MP it really interests me for some reason. However I hear a lot bad things about being an MP like others well hate me or 99% of the time I'll be guarding a post, lots of paperwork, etc. I was hoping there were other MP's on here who could share advice and experience on here. Lastly, I don't wanna go infantry because I thought peace time infantry is supposed to suck, I'll still considering it though.

Any thoughts?

What if we gave it a bunch of huge guns and rocket pods and bombs and stuff

Then it'd have a bunch of bombs and rocket pods and stuff.

But it's kind of expensive for that. It has inherent advantages (speed and range) for transport that don't carry over to the CAS role as well.

Is there any downside to getting a upper receiver without a forward assist?

I've never had to use it and was looking at billeted receivers and the ones that don't have the forward assist just look so clean and sexy to me, but before i jump on it i want to know if perhaps there's something i'm overlooking here and without one i could potentially be fucking myself over so i want to hear some reason why this would be a bad decision.
88 posts and 20 images submitted.
>>
>>29528724
no downside if you're only going to use it at a range and not in any other situation
>>
I would prefer to have one and not need it if I ever found myself relying on my rifle to protect my life. This will probably never happen. The odds that you will both find yourself in combat and need to use your forward assist are almost zero. Get whatever Gucci shit floats your boat.
>>
With proper maintenance the forward assist is never needed and is most often never even taught as part of the manual of arms for clearing a jam.

/k/, I need a bit of advise. I have pic related waiting for me back home when I take PCS leave in a week. I already have a scope picked out (NightForce SHV 4-14x56 MOAR), and I want a mount where I can still use the iron sights with it installed. Does anyone on /k/ have any idea what mount could fit the bill? Cost is not a factor.

IMO you are best off getting a QD mount that you can take off if there is some issue with the scope. You could see through the original claw mounts, but since you have the pic rail on there I dont think its worth looking for such a niche product that probably doesnt exist.

In all fairness, I have a very niche rifle. I'm torn between getting a QD or putting it on a riser. I just don't know if the riser would introduce a degree of inaccuracy due to it flexing or whatever.
