Why do gun manufacturers make such ridiculously heavy triggers? Would they really get sued if they put in decent triggers--you know, like the kind we now have to pay gunsmiths to put in after we buy the damn gun?

This
It's pretty sad
I want to carry a j frame with a 3 lb trigger straight out of the box
>>
>>30588568
Can you name any particular cases where that actually happened? There's no law that says a trigger has to be above a certain weight, and if it were really a huge liability, gunsmiths would get sued too, but as far as I know, they don't.

I was curious what you guys think are the 1-3 best and 1-3 worst in general .22lr loads.

I've noticed anything CCI makes is a lot more reliable than some of the other ammos.

The best load I've found is the Winchester Super X.

The worst load I've found is Federal Automatch.

I just got a 500-round box of this stuff from SG. I shot it all through a 10/22. Not a single fuckin' problem, which honestly surprised me.
>>
Regular Blazer is shit in my Savage. Thunderbolt is actually pretty good in it. Mini mags, well, they're mini mags after all. Federal Auto Match not bad. The new Browning stuff is good. Of course, these are all out of my gun.

I'm lusting after a Henry in 45-70 and I need some straight talk.

I've never had a centerfire lever action. Are they shit?

Is Henry shit?

Is 45-70 shit for innawoods, innawoods animal defense and duurrr huntin?

Are lever actions just useless fudd shit?

I don't like the Henry because it lacks a loading gate, and you've gotta use the poverty tube like it's a giant .22.

But that's prejudice, I don't know if they are actually strong or not.
>>
>>30588447
I was recommended the Henry over the Marlin because apparently Marlin has shit quality control now.
>>
>I've never had a centerfire lever action. Are they shit?
No, they're wonderful. I love my Marlin.
>Is Henry shit?
It's only shit if you're allergic to muzzle-end tube loaders. Otherwise the build quality is pretty nice.
>Is 45-70 shit for innawoods, innawoods animal defense and duurrr huntin?
45-70 will kill the shit out of any animal in North America. People use them on moose, grizzly, and polar bears. The only downside for durrhuntan is that it makes a huge hole in the animal so you lose a bit more meat.
>Are lever actions just useless fudd shit?
Fuck no, they're awesome.

Why did the Romanians dip the butt of the stock in black paint?
What other wierd stuff did other countries do to their rifles?

I suppose they wanted to make it look like they could afford rubber-pad stocks, but at the same time, they were Romania.

I know Ruger Mini-14's are not as accurate as an AR and I'm not expecting to turn it into a sniper rifle, but just for killing coyotes, clearing pests and home defense I was hoing to buy an M1 carbine, but then decided not to sonce I didn't want to stock pile another caliber so next best thing is the Mini-14 Ranch being in .223/5.56

I was wondering, is it better to get the shorter barrel for stiffness and lessen the barrel whip or stick with the 18" to get tge velocity and not have increased flash and bang?

Its better to just buy a fucking AR15, and spending time learning how to write.
>>
>>30585811
savage, anon
>>
>>30585728
Mini-14s do work better with shorter 16" barrels. On a newer model the difference isn't that significant because the barrels are thicker overall so the barrel whip problem is smaller to begin with, but on older models people cut em to 14" with a pinned/welded John Masen brake all the time.

Accu-strut also helps.
As does an Ultimak mount (supports barrel behind gas block).

Even so, shoot it in stock configuration and modify only if necessary.

>consult /k/ a few days ago
>I want something for home defense, maybe to carry sometimes but very rarely
>don't have CCW permit but might get one eventually
>suggest M&P Shield or a shotgun
>/k/ says Shield is trash for HD and to get a fullsize and practice before getting a pocket gun
>They say go to the gun store and try out ergo on fullsize handguns
>Go to gunstore and fuck around with Springfield XD, Glock 17, M&P9
>I like Glock and M&P but they are both overpriced at the store
>Look online, see M&P is like $150 cheaper than the Glock and they are ""Basically identical""
>Might as well get a M&P 9mm because it's cheaper
>Go to another store and ask if they ever get the full size M&P in
>"had one on the shelf for a year and he just sold it last week"
>"Nobody really buys the full size stuff anymore they want stuff to carry, if they get full size it's the Glock 19"
>I ask why he thinks that is
>he doesn't really have a reason

Why is this? My dad just trashes Glock all day and doesn't want me to get one (kek), the 2 guns seem similar. Should I not even be looking at full sized handguns, are they obselete or something? I am not really planning on carrying everyday or anything, although the option would be fine I guess. I don't want an AR for HD because I don't want a M&P sport and I don't want to build one. A shotgun would be chill, but I kind of want semi auto capability.

wut do guys?

not the most powerful, but reliable and accurate. it's between a .380 and a 9mm in terms of velocity

Question: can anyone point to any statistic on how often knives are actually used by soldiers in a combat situation? I'm talking sidearm knives, not bayonets.

I've searched a while and found nothing. I'd assume almost every soldier uses his knife as a tool now and then. There was a gay ass knife thread earlier, but the question seems unanswered - how likely is it that you would actually find a knife useful in combat?

If you put a cap on your carry weight and chose between an extra mag and a combat knife, I'm guessing it's like 50x more likely that you'd need the extra mag in a fight, but does anyone know how actually useful knives are in combat?

When will this autistic pipe dream of repealing the Hughes Amendment ever end?

Face it, sperglords. It's not happening. I'll let you know why:

1) Liberals will go into full-on nuclear fuckin' meltdown at the thought of literal machine guns being legal to manufacture again.
2) The rich cuckservatives that run that NRA probably have tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of dollars invested in transferable machine guns. The second that new manufacture machine guns become transferable, that value goes down the toilet like hot shit.
3) Gun rights are under attack more today than they ever have been before. The gun rights lobby is under enormous pressure to keep the rights we have now, let alone fight for ones we used to have. I see no foreseeable end to this, and in all likelihood, things like ARs and AKs will probably be completely illegal within the next 20 years. It will be a cold day in hell the day that firearms advocates can go back on the offensive.

So can people shut the fuck up about the Hughes Amendment now? You should be happy the government even allows you to own your .22LRs and nuggets, let alone your AR-15s and shit.

Full-auto weapons are a privilege, not a right.

Anything that fires 7.62x39, .30-30, or anything bigger will be fine. SKSes and AKs are popular for a reason, as are bolt and lever guns in large calibers. On the other hand you want a gun light enough that you can still fucking book it if a magdump doesn't kill the skinwalker all the way, so fifteen pound bench queens are discouraged.

Take your rifle, I'm assuming you're right handed, and tilt It to the left and then to the right and pretend you're aiming down some sights. Tilting to the left is much more stable than to the right since it throws the weight closer the center of your body. And a stable shooting position is a good shooting position.

The opposite is true for lefties
>>
>>30584610
angled BUIS are a meme
>>
They mount on the right side. You would also have improper alignment of the gun to the target if they stuck out to the right and yes you have to cant the gun to the left to use them which in my opinion is better than having BUIS that you would only use if your optic failed rather than having the ability to use either optic or iron sights.
