Does pic related do any kind of worthwhile Black Friday sales? Particularly on parts kits?

I have a lower I want to do a build on and I'm trying to find some discounted parts kits. Wondering where I should be looking next Friday.

Bump for interest. I was looking at picking up this lower for a 20 inch build, but I don't know if I should pick it up now, wait for black friday, or just buy the parts and put it together myself.

What if someone made a small carrier, that can dock with other small carriers and conbine into a bigger carrier?

If anything happens to one of the ships, other can come and replace.

I guess the ideal size would be 1/4 of current aircraft carrier. Something around 170x40m of size.

They could combine into several formations, depending on the type of aircarft that is needed.

The standard would be 4 small carriers combining into a single big one of 340m x 80m. It would have two flight decks.

Or it could combine into one single line, making it a huge 680m flight deck.

One torpedo blows and destroys one ship, no problem, just have another take its place.

It would be the revolution on the sea battles.

Didn't someone have plans for a huge floating, modular airbase like this? Probably China. It would have used quite a lot of different modules though, while yours sounds like it would repeat one 'universal' type that could operate badly on it's own.

What cleaning brand do you guys recommend?
Some popular ones I see are froglube, clp, hoppes9, tuf-cloth/sentry solutions etc.

State what you use and why

I recommend Hoppe's #9 for a copper solvent/GP bore cleaner. I also use Butch's Bore Shine, but that shit's corrosive enough I don't recommend it to anyone who doesn't have someone present that uses it to show them how (it will literally eat your bore if you leave it in too long, has to be used in a ventilated area due to toxic fumes, and smells horrible).

For cleaning and lubing the action, I've been using both Break-Free CLP and Shooter's Choice FP10 for over a decade, they work well as a CLP and don't dry out too fast. Have also never had a single part of any of my firearms ever rust after being cleaned.
>FP10 is the only lubricant allowed to be used by USAMU shooters as it retains a constant viscosity regardless of ambient temp or humidity
>>
>>27933945
Thanks for your input anon - I am new to guns and need to clean mine.

What do I need to get besides patches - Should I get a bore snake or like an aluminum rod

What do you guys recommend in that regard
>>
For cleaning
>warm water
>non-harsh dish soap (specifically the cheap ajax kind, ffs don't get actual ajax toilet cleaner)
Reasons
>had bad experiences with solvents stripping the finish on my guns (namely Hoppes no. 9, fuck that walmart tier stuff it ruined my makarov) anyway dish soap works great, smells great, cleans more completely than anything I've used and doesn't leave residue.

For lubricating/rust protection
>hornady one shot on springs and other small parts
>frog lube on moving parts
Reasons
>long term rust prevention, some of my guns I leave sitting for perhaps years without taking them out. The frog lube is tacky and doesn't run like most oils, so it stays where it needs to be to keep the parts protected.

You can also use wheel bearing grease, same shit less expensive, but a bucket of frog lube doesn't cost all that much and its basically a lifetime supply. If anyone knows of a non-scented version of frog lube or wheel bearing grease let me know, I'm worried the added scent might not be good for hunting.

Is anyone on here cross eye dominant? What do you do to compensate for it with hand guns?
18 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
>>27933820
My wife's one. Right-handed, but left-eye is dominating. She just fires everything like a leftie, and it seems to work fine.
>>
>>27933820

3 of the last 5 people Ive taught to shoot ended up being cross eye. Its not such a big deal for handguns because you can adjust your head behind the sights. But for rifles you just need to bite the bullet and learn to shoot leftie because of stocks.
>>
>>27933820
I'm cross eye dominant. I shoot rifles lefty, and handguns i just shift the gun over and use my let eye, but hold them normally apart from that.

I'm about to get into reloading, going to start off with this Lee 50th anniversary press.

Opinions? Advice?
Recommended dies (cheap but good)?

I'm planning on reloading: .223, .357Sig, .308
When it comes to reloading .223/5.56 or .308/7.62, what's different?

I bought a similar kit from Lee. Wish I hadn't.

The press is decent.
Powder measure is shit.
Scale is beyond shit.

I would buy a press, powder measure and quality digital scale all separately, as well as all the small, little ancillary stuff you will need.

That kit will get you started. But within a year you will have replaced 75% of it.
>>
I want to start reloading as well but I don't know where to start. There are guides online but they are pretty intimidating.

The British police guns are no match. The two main weapons carried by the ARVs are the G-36C and the AR15 Defender, both high velocity, capable weapons, but inadequate for combating the newest breed of terrorist, since their calibre is only 5.56 millimetres and they cannot be fired automatically.

So in any head-on-confrontation with a Kalashnikov-wielding fanatic, the police officer is likely to be defeated. Experience from Afghanistan shows that, with this calibre, repeated hits are needed to put the target down – not easy with a single-shot rifle.

5.56 isn't great (still better than 7.62x39 overall) with SS109. It's fucking awesome with good ammo.

Britain is hilarious.

Hey /k/,

What should I get as my next rimfire rifle?

I have a 10/22 with techsights and a henry lever 22lr.

I want either a marlin 60 or a Ruger American Rimfire.

Probably will scope both.

Which should I get?

heres what RAR looks like.

I really like the history and wood/steel on model 60s. But I already have a semi auto. I have always wanted a model 60 though since I started shooting but couldnt find one 3 years ago when I first started.

10 guns later I kinda want one.

For the ruger It takes same mags as my 10/22 and has irons which is nice backup till I buy a scope.

If I was to spend 300 or so bucks what would be a decent substitute 180ish bolt action so I could just get a model 60 and a bolt action?

Or do you think thats dumb?
>>
>>27933568
I'd suggest something in .17 HMR--so you have a better chance to find ammo during a scare.
>>
>>27933632
I have plenty of 22lr in my area thankfully so no worries there man.

I can't stomach spending more than 20 cents for rimfire as I don't hunt.

I don't normally lurk /k/, (mostly /fit/ and /p/) but I had an easy question that Google isn't helping me with.

I really want either a 1903 or m1 garand.

Doesn't matter the brand as long as its new (assuming somebody still makes them)

Also, which is better and what brand is best...?

Hit up the CMP while they still have garands. Hell I don't even know if they do anymore desu.

I got a 1943 Springfield a few years back.

Do you want a bolt action or semi auto? That should make your decision easier.

Be aware of low serial numbered 1903 rifles. I got a rifle manufactured around 1912 or so, I never took it shooting due to fear of the receiver exploding so I ended up selling it. Probably would have been fine but I figured not to risky my pretty face. Still looking for a good deal on a 1903a3

I'd go with the garand. They're pretty cheap from the CMP and a ton of fun to shoot. You can get a field grade for $640 or a service grade for $740.

Pic related, best $740 I've ever spent in my life.

CMP
you have to go through a song and dance to be able to order from them, but when you can, get 10 of the 1911 mags, and an m1 garand. the garand collector's association is one of the cheapest clubs you can join to satisfy their club requirement.

My girlfriend wants to get her conceal carry and a hand gun. I'm a xd9 owner and love my gun she has shot it but it's a bit to big for her hands. Took her to the store today had her hold a few guns (px4 9mm, beretta Nano, glock 26, xd mod 2, xds, and the ruger lc9) she's torn between the lc9 and the xds both she likes both fit her hands well. 1 don't get the nano. You have to slam the hell out of the mags to get them in, and the fit and finish isn't worth the money.
I don't really like the grips on any of the springfields. They are like grabbing a handful of legos.
Have you looked at the shield by smith and wesson? I love mine, it's small, comfortable in your hands, and priced really well.
>>
The lc9 is a good gun, I just don't think it's as good as the shield. It just doesn't feel as good in your hand.

Do it, get VA and retirement after another 10 years. Let's say you retire as an E8. 50% of that will be around $2500 after taxes with inflation. And let's say you're not a faggot and you're infantry. With 10 years in, I'd say you may have deployed maybe 3 times in country, again if you aren't a faggot. So with all injuries associated with the infantry, such as hearing loss, bad knees/ back, sleep apnea, PTSD, STD's, etc., it's safe to assume you may receive either 70-100% VA compensation, again if you're infantry and not a faggot. That can add an additional $1600-3000 more a month. That's around $49,200-$66,000yr being retired. Think about how fast those 10 years went. And I guarantee you that civilian work is just as stupid as the dumbest shit you do while in, like cutting the grass with scissors, sweeping the dirt, etc.
