Pic Related is up for grabs near me for $1300 dollarydoos.
Comes with scope, bore-sighter, and 200 rounds.
It'll be my first gun. Should I?

Have fun developing flinch and other shit. You'll never like guns if you do it this way.

Unless it's a Nightforce scope on it, then buy it, remove scope, sell gun for $500.

I have no use for a gun that you have to take apart to reload.

What are your thoughts on the 9x18 Makarov. Suitable for edc? Anyone personally carry this gun? Discuss.
111 posts and 18 images submitted.
>>
It should carry just fine, I'd probably just decock it and run it double action with the safety off personally cause I'm a lefty.

Finding a good holster might be a bitch, and you wanna watch the finish.

Now lets argue about hollowpoints vs fmj in 9x18 for ccw.

I wish 9x18 got the same love from ammo manufactures as shitty .380 did.
>>
>>27943999
Plenty of people started using them for CCW back when they flooded the market and many still do now, if that tell a you anything.
>>
It is a reliable firearm and would be suitable for edc....however I would not carry one. But if its all you can afford/have than by all means carry it.

has anyone form1'ed a suppressor with sdta or similar components?

if so does it work well?
what length?
how many baffles?
caliber?
how did you cut spacers?
how did you go about the blast chamber?
what material?

no. they're 99% identical. I think the m9 might still have a steel guide rod and trigger, and no warning label, but I could easily be wrong.
>>
>>27943837
I know the Italian made guns have a metal recoil spring guide rod. The US-made ones--at least for commercial sale--have a plastic recoil spring guide rod.

That having been said, I've never heard of a problem with one of the plastic parts. Locking blocks chip and crack, the trigger can fail to reset in SA if the trigger return spring wears (or is not reinstalled exactly correctly by the armorer during depot service), parkerized mag tubes attract dust and can cause feeding problems in areas with a lot of fine Afghan style "moon dust," but never a problem with recoil spring guides.
>>
>>27943896
you can also just pick up a steel guide rod for like $7 if you're at all worried about it.

>all the experiments with barrel lengths

What would you experiment making full auto if nfa didn't exist bonus point if full auto Fudd rifle.

>>
>>27943829
Suppressors would probably be noticeably better and far cheaper without regulation allowing the free market to develop new and better designs. I would go as far as saying that suppresors would be a standard thing on all firearms mil leo and civ much like muzzle devices are now.
Also factory full auto ARs and ajs would probably be a lot cheaper and ubiquitous amoung gun owners.

I found a local instructor for "tactical" shooting.

Its a 75 buck class, and I think it would be interesting to actually shoot from barricades, different positions, etc.
Im tired of shooting while standing still at an indoor range

What are the down sides to me taking this course besides me losing 75 bucks
>mfw i see price

That's cheap as shit, even if it's a waste of time you still got some shooting in from positions you normally wouldn't.
>>

>NO NO NO STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING
>Do it like this, I watched a magpul video so I know my shit
>bro, trust me I was in the army/marines
>that might work for you, sure but fuck you I don't like it so do it my way
>do this retarded shit
>didn't you know I "train" cops?
>alright pay me 75 faggot

You're better off spending that money on ammo
>>
For that cheap, go for it. Just remember it's probably cheap for a reason.

Anyone out there have a sig p938? Like the ergonomics? Trigger? I love my p226 but its kinda big for my kids to shoot, thought this might be a better choice.

>>27943561

I don't have one, but I've felt one before. Feels pretty good for a single stack 9mm, its not too thin like most polymer pistols that size. I thought the trigger was a little heavy for a single action gun like that.

>he says "I got a perfect condition nickel 1903 a few weeks back for only $450 - no blemishes at all"
>ask him if it was the original finish, since aftermarket nickel plating ruins the value
>"oh yeah, definitely all original, yep sure."
>"the stainless and nickel models are more expensive because they can't rust from sweat and salts from your body when carrying it"

>he just keeps droning on and on
>"I have a concealed carry permit"
>"I've got top security clearance from the government"

Why did the sword become the universal symbol for warfare, martial prowess, chivalry, and state power? It's really not that useful of a weapon compared to other ancient weapons such as spears, axes, and of course ranged weapons like bow/arrow.
86 posts and 12 images submitted.

my uneducated guess is that it took training and skill to become competent and even more to become good and many of the people back then didn't have money nor training to get skilled in their use, just give them a mace or spear.
Also perhaps the craftsmanship that went into some of them, swords weren't exactly the cheapest weapon around in their time.
>>
>>27942919
it's one of the few a tools specifically designed to be used in combat, other added uses like hunting are minimal compared to a spear or bow.

And it's easy to carry, while still being fairly effective...

Because they're a bad ass, cool weapon. I'm sure people back then thought along the same lines just like people do now. Plus because they're more expensive and more difficult to master, the people who wielded them tended to be knights and nobility which gave them a certain prestige with ownership.

Plus being made almost entirely out of metal made them family heirloom-tier items, whereas a spear probably isn't going to be passed down for many generations or otherwise be noted as something of tremendous value.

Also the fact you can carry around a sword in a sheath makes it a very convenient weapon for carrying around regularly.

Post the most recent guns you picked up.

Usually I'm posting about the most recent military firearm I purchased, but this time it's a little different. I just picked up this shotgun at my local gun store. Been looking for a nice side by side hammer gun for a while and this fit the bill.
