I'm going with Ruger GP100. Tough as hell, decent trigger, etc.

Anyone who cares will be in here soon to argue about whatever year s&w they found and fap to the thought of funding a deal on a Python.

But the answer is GP 100.
>>
>>27942707
A gun is only as good as its user. If you do well with a revolver, go for it.

Mr73 would be a good investment, unless those Frenchies sell us all of their old surplus.

(Pls do France)

GP100 is a great gun and a great value.
It would not be a mistake to buy one but S&W are better.

>are revolvers alright for HD?
Yeah, but the limitations are generally the capacity and you also want to consider over penetration and penetration through walls, particularly for home defense. Do you live with people, in an apartment? Choosing a magnum round with a heavy load can cause concern.
Capacity and size aren't as big an issue. Also, I tend not to leave guns stored in a car or house while chambered because of the potential for fires. In the state of Tennessee, where I do not live, I believe the rule for keeping a gun in your car is only that it can't be chambered for that reason. I don't want to accidentally cause the death of a fireman. With a semi-auto you can just rack the slide. With a revolver you can just leave a chamber empty but then the capacity is even less. It also fucks with OCD tendencies.
Are you worried about leaving the gun loaded because of springs? They don't wear out that way, don't worry about it.
Finally, there are less revolvers with rails should you decide you want a light.

So if you want to get a wheel gun for home defense that's fine. I would recommend a larger .357 with a 6" barrel and load it with high velocity low grain weight hollow points. That will maximize tissue damage while minimizing how many walls it continues to sail through. S&W are fantastic but expensive, Ruger is rock solid and a lot cheaper. The reason I suggest a 6" barrel are as follow:
>prettier (subjective)
>Less bang and flash which is a huge deal if you shoot your gun in a hallway without ear protection.
>Better recoil management.

Personally, I think pic related is the ideal home defense gun.

Looking at bullpup rifles for hunting white tail.

Been eyeing the Keltec RFB because it is chambered in 7.62 NATO. I have had a Keltec P32 before and it did good at the range for a compact handgun, so Keltec is OK in my book. Any opinions?

Generally looking for a bullpup rifle for hunting white tail deer, maybe even wild boar if they make it this far.

Also, always had a soft spot for the AUG.

RFB is a shit, wont fire anything and have heard all sorts if problems with the brass extraction because it goes alongside the barrel for some reason.

Pretty good.

So what would the best bullpup be?

My ideas
>full ambidextrous controls including charging handle
>magazine release by trigger like a traditional rifle has, but also a backup release where the magazine is located, like the DesertTech MDR has, allowing you to reload by letting the mag drop while you grab the new mag, or do a retentive reload by using the release by the magazine to grab it as it falls
>adjustable stock to eliminate the "one size fits all" problem like the VHS has
>make the action and such as short as possible to allow the most configuration options, letting operators be able change foregrip position instead of the built in "one size fits all" foregrip many bullpups have
>some sort of ambidextrous compatible ejection solution, forward ejection, downward ejection, perhaps something that can be either to the right or the left changed by flipping a switch instead of needing tools or extra parts like other guns that have a swappable ejection port
>balance point at or behind the grip for comfortable handing and less fatigue

VanRiperUSMC.jpg
238KB, 800x1000px
Unfortunately, in my research, some of the claims about Van Riper basically making shit up are unable to substantiated, but there are a number things which stress credibility.

One aspect, though this is more on the journalists, that strains credibility, is the idea that the US Navy is not prepared for saturation attacks by anti-ship cruise missiles. This is the raison d'etre for the Ticonderoga CG and Arleigh Burke DDG. Because the Soviets were prepared to throw more and more capable missiles at US CBGs.

An aspect which seriously strains Van Riper's credibility is that the naval boondoggle occurred on Day 1. Millennium Challenge 2002 was a 17 day exercise involving all branches of the military, special forces, and some of the intelligence community. It is an absolute waste, especially for something which was intended (as described by General Buck Kernan) to gather useful analytic data for future simulations to call it off after the first day because the REDFOR won. That Van Riper would go to the media is curious to me. He is a Lt. General; he should know that forces get to respawn and try again in wargames. The idea that he was forced to lose because "the US military must be invincible" seems preposterous since REDFOR units and aggressor squadrons regularly maul their BLUFOR counterparts in exercises. Though I cannot ascertain why, (some have chalked it up to super butthurt), Van Riper's motives seem suspicious.

Now, while allegations of Van Riper pulling REDFOR tactics out of his ass are sadly baseless with regards to legitimate published material. However, it is not baseless to say that he used artificially gamey tactics on his own part (though these results were legitimate) in the form of, since certain units were only available for a few days in a particular location, Van Riper did things like hit those areas with persistent (3-day) chemical agents.

In conclusion, ignoring hearsay, it is difficult to find the conclusions drawn by journalists about Van Riper's tactical acumen well-considered. There is also more information that casts into doubt the honesty of Van Ripers account; more context is necessary to make an honest assessment.

Finally, fuck Malcom Gladwell - pseudoscientific hack and master of the obvious. And fuck War is Boring.

Thank you

Condor is the stuff airsofters get, because its not actually meant to hold weight for extended periods of time.

If you're actually wearing it in a combat environment day in and day out, it's going to fall apart. If you're just wearing it for cosplay on /k/ and sunny days at the range, meh, not exactly a hard use environment.

A think tank has just said there's no way the United States can afford their planned F-35 numbers procurement.

http://www.airforcetimes.com/story/military/2015/11/10/experts-bomber-cost-could-upset-f-35-plans/75528532/

Soon after that Air Force officials said themselves that they might not be able to afford planned purchases and are investigating whether or not they can build new 4th gen planes to keep on policy. Upgrades were also included as part of this new investigation.

k, son wants to join the Marines. He's 23, adrift in life, working as a waiter in a restaurant right now.

Graduated college, has BA in art, half-assed ambitions to be an artist but no drive. When he's not working he hangs out with friends and smokes weed.

Never expressed any desire to join the military, but his childhood friend is joining and took him to a recruitment event and now he wants to join up with his friend.

I'm afraid this kid is going to regret this decision, as there is nothing in his character to indicate he would thrive in any branch of the service.

What advice do I give him?
