Gun noob here.
Just wondering. How come a bolt action rifle tends to be more accurate than a semi automatic?
Less moving parts

Placebo
No gas is vented towards cycling the action, making it a non-variable and high velocity compared to rounds from semi-auto. That's about the only thing which by design sets them apart. Not to say that semi-autos can't be highly accurate; I think the M110 was something like .25MOA in testing.
Also, bolt actions which are tuned for accuracy tend to have really ideal triggers, barrels, optics, etc, etc which makes it seem like the average bolt action is inherently more accurate, when that's all stuff that *could* go on semi-autos, but semi auto rifles (especially...

I live in one of those modern densely packed suburb houses & although my shotgun or carbine or pistol would be quite effective, I fear errant projectiles over penetrating & parking themselves in my neighbors children.
>Could Ms I:33 (arming sword & buckler) be a viable means of home defense?
>How would the media treat me if I defended my house from Redguard incursion?
>How would the courts react?
>would I level up?
plz respond ;_;
If there was ever a revolution in America that involved a rebel force fighting the army do you think any foreign countries would supplythe rebels with arms? If so what countries do you think would and what do you think they would send?
supply rebels how? theres an ocean between us and most of the world.
>>27941746
>Import weapons and ammo to easily paid for foreign country, also known as all of Central and South America
>Walk across grossly unsecured border
Do you honestly think the Iranians were the one manufacturing the sole precision component of the EFPs that were so effective in Iraq? Shit was being made by China or Russia and smuggled via land-border into Iraq.
The United States did the same thing with SA-7s and other goodies for the Afghans...

OP here, considering going USCG in March. I spoke to the recruiter in June, had to put off any decisions until August, enrolled in EMT school in August, and will graduate in February. Would probably go for Intelligence.
Goal would be:
Enlist
4 months at first duty station
Wait 18 months for a spot in IS A school
A school
C schools as often as possible
Go to NIU for Masters in Strategic Intelligence
Either go to OCS or go work for CIA/FBI/NSA/DIA

Holy shit, they really can't accept reality, can they?
I can't even fathom how warped your thought process has to be to arrive at a place where you print this fucking tripe and then pat yourself on the back pretending you are the only thing protecting civilized society.
What are some front line roles in the Navy? Something that will be deployed in a war zone and see combat.

Seabees, EOD, FMF Corpsmen/RPs, Expeditionary Logistics (surprising to most people), and depending on the location, Riverines and those assigned to Amphibious/Beachmaster groups. Obviously Special Warfare as well.

Doesn't really count but I scored 120 rounds of Portuguese 7.62x51 surplus today.
>>27941341
Open.
Is this the 1200 round crate?
And what did you pay?
There is a fag on arms list selling some but he wanted $1200
A dollar per round is steep and I assume he is gouging.
>guyz barrel length is completely irrelevant! It doesn't change a single thing! It is just aesthetic!
>everyone in /k/
top kek
>>27941018
For whatever reason, the .357 is particularly sensitive to barrel length. It performs much better in a rifle length barrel than a handgun.
>>27941045
>damage control
>>27941045
There is a lot of powder in that .357 that can take advantage of the longer barrel compared to other rounds. Longer barrels allow more gas pressure to build, and the bullet continually accelerates as long as pressure is still building. The more barrel it has to travel, the faster it goes (until all powder is burned).
So, when assault rifles were first made it was because we hadn't perfected recoil reducing designs. In our current state, we have more advanced methods, so why not use full caliber assault rifles? Everybody is making these full caliber marksmen rifles, but why not go all the way and make some real assault rifles in .308?
>>27940902
I don't want to carry 300 rounds of .308, but I will gladly carry 300 rounds of 5.56.
>>27940902
The real advantage of intermediate calibers is that you can carry nearly twice as much ammunition.
>>27940902
>So, when assault rifles were first made it was because we hadn't perfected recoil reducing designs
I do love when people attempt to prompt threads with an untrue premise.
What is your rebuttal to Jim Jefferies' stance on gun ownership?

my rebuttal is apathy
