When would you actually fire with your carry pistol?
Hi, I was thinking of getting a CCW and carrying, but I'm not sure if I see the point.
If I get mugged, my instinct is that it's safer to give him my wallet rather than to either draw or fire, which would both risk me getting shot.
I can't think of any other time I would feel in danger. Help set me straight please.

A lot of /k/ posters will say "just shoot him! slot the floppy!" but in practice it just depends on the situation. I'd rather lose my wallet than get into a gun fight anyday, armed or otherwise. Then again, if I let him approach to take it he might start searching me down and take the gun or he might try to kill me anyway just because. In those cases I'd pretty much have to shoot, though in all others having the gun merely gives you the option but it doesn't make it a good idea per se.

If people say it is better to build lots of destroyers instead of one big and powerful battleship. Because one missile will hit and then will destroy only one destroyer.

Larger aircraft carriers are more efficient. Relying on V/STOL means that you have much shorter range overall. Carriers aren't for fighting other carriers anymore. Carriers are a tool can be used to pacific a certain area with its mere presence.

Would you sell guns that you both don't shoot, and really can't afford to shoot?
I have about ten guns. And about 9 of them are safe queens. The only gun that isn't, my Browning Citori which I shoot trap with every week is the only one that gets any use.
I really don't shoot my other guns for three reasons.
A. I have no use for them. Like my pump and single shot shotguns. I don't shoot clays with them. And there's no reason to bring them down to the rifle range.
B. I can't afford to shoot them. I'm on a students budget. I work, but I don't make a whole lot of money. Although I live frugally and budget well, my entire ammo budget goes into shotgun shells. And even .22, with it being like $40 a brick is prohibitively expensive.
C. I'm just bored with rifle shooting these days, shooting the same steel targets and punching paper just doesn't do much for me anymore.,
The thing is, I don't mind having safe queens. I think I like collecting guns more than I like shooting them. I really want several different versions of some of the guns I already own, even if they won't do much.
Fuck no. There is absolutely no reason to sell your guns unless you are in a truly destitute, desperate situation.

well as you get older you will answer this question most likely - yes sell them
you can carry those guns for awhile in your safe and get some emo satisfaction from that
but you can't take those guns with you after you're dead - so either you sell them now and get some $$ or your estate will either destroy them or sell them for peanuts

This is the OP who bought a Martini-Henry a few days ago. I can't get my bayonet to lock up on this rifle and I'm not quite sure why. As you can see the bayonet has a small bit of room to move However it can't because it is already hitting the stock. I need it to move down that small space so I can rotate the collar to lock the bayonet.

What you need is a belt grinder.
So my friend and I just purchased a pair of black powder revolvers for having fun out in the desert. While looking into some of the ball casting equipment online I had an idea, what if you used these molds to cast balls out of rubber or silicone instead of lead and then used an extremely reduced powder load, we'd probably have to do some tests to find the right load size, to fire them? It could be like paintball with revolvers, or it could end up with someone missing an eye.
What do you think /k/? Fun idea or really really stupid and dangerous idea?

It could maybe be as safe as paintball if a low density projectile is used. You'd need a high speed camera to get everything just right. But why bother when clean shooting paintball markers require much less maintenance?

I have a chance to get an HK USP .40 Compact DAO for 500 bucks in like new condition.
Is this a good idea? How do I know if it had the LEM trigger? It has night sights too.
