What's the best all around handgun caliber for self-defense, hunting, and survival on distant unknown planets?
I'm asking for a friend
10mm +P.
.44 magnum from a Ruger Redhawk. Strongest revolver frame there is, you can shoot loads as hot as you want, pretty much.
You can CC it, OC with style, home defense like a boss, and you can even hunt with it... AND put a scope on it.
Plus you can get a .44 magnum lever gun and have a rifle and pistol with matching calibers.
.45 Colt can do the same thing, though.... Plus you can get a Ruger chambered in .454, and shoot both from it while getting a .45 Colt lever gun.
Both of those can achieve amazing power levels from rifles and strong revolvers....

10mm.
Takes down a bear or a man or a fishman from planet x. If it breathes it's likely not going to have a good time after it takes 135 grains at 1400 fps
It will tear anything that lives a brand new asshole to shit out it's internal organs through.
Check out the glock 20
I have milled out 3 80% AR's without a problem but Im a bit concerned with the ATF regulations on UZI parts kits since the were originally full autos. EX. welding a block so the selector cant go into the auto selection, not using a full out dust cover wtf? and on and on. I found a parts kit for $130, serialized new upper $100, and a 16' barrel for 150. So im only looking at 380 in parts. Should I go for it /k/ or is it safer to just buy a complete one?
>>27920982
Save your money and buy a Transferable UZI. These carbine versions of SMGs are not very practical, so you might as well go all out and get the real deal.
You need to bitch about the laws that force you to jump though hoops.
Bitch loudly.
If things keep going the way they are, we'll need to consult a lawyer every time we cross state lines.
I'm all for states rights but there's some things all Americans should be able to do.
>>27920982
if your concern is money just buy one
the only gun thats cost effective to build is the ar
everything else is a money pit unless youve got the tools already and intend to build multiple
Ok so what the fuck is going on with this .40 meme?
Why are people treating it like a joke?
.40 s&w is fucking cake nigga, it shits on 9mm and acp.

Things are getting bad here and swedish law says i cant conceal any sort of self defense weapon (no knives, batons,GOD FORBID HANDGUNS). Given the state of Europe now more than ever after Paris do i just say "fuck it" and carry a baton? after all its better to be judged by twelve than carried by six, right?
You're still gonna be in the carried by six camp with a baton, mate.

Because the Arrow would win the latter category.

Certainly not that one with it's lack of a gun and sub-par missiles.

Well, after the recent events in Paris, we've seen some threads about getting firearms and carrying them in France.
Although being a french gun owner, I think that the utility of carrying a firearms is overrated and I'd like to talk about first aid, a thing that was too much dismissed in my opinion.
I was trained in first aid, being a volunteer firefighter for 5 years, but I haven't recycled myself for 3 years now.
I remember the most important stuff, but I lack a good list of thing to put in a first-aid kit.

Warm blanket
Gauze
More gauze with cotton patches (eyes, punctures)
Topical anti-septic
Good bedside manner
All I can think of now is :
-1 or 2 emergency hemostatic pillows (see first pic)
-3 to 4 tourniquets
-some pair of vinyl gloves
-a pair of fucking good medical scissors
What am I missing ?
Keep in mind that I'm thinking in a first reponder mind and that I should be able to carry the stuff on me like an EDC.

Before you crush me for having shared a UK link, please understand the whole story is 100% American and the journalist says almost the same things that triggered me in his video.

So, do these journalists linger on aesthetic details because they are concerned with the literary quality of their story,
...or do they cherry-pick cheesy details with the hope they will trigger some stereotypes (e.g. "huh huh this dude assembles gunz and...

Are you really going to try to have a Yurop > Amerikkka thread when THIS SHIT is about to go down?
http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-15-6110_en.htm
Seriously, stop this shit. Liberals and neuvo commies want to ban fun everywhere. Stop trying to balkanize us, faggot.
So I was recently at a gun store in town, and this beauty caught my eye. Apparently they're manufactured in Bulgaria, shipped here, and reassembled and sold by Arsenal here in Las Vegas.
I'd never really considered owning an AK-pattern rifle, but this thing is amazing. Polymer hardware makes it insanely light, and from what I've seen in casual searches, the reviews on it are excellent.
Anyone own one? Had any problems with it? Have any other AK-pattern rifle they'd prefer instead?
http://www.arsenalinc.com/usa/SLR-107FR-Quad-Rail.html
Arsenal's SLR series of rifles are some of the best AKs on the market. They're expensive for what they are, though. A cheaper WASR will do everything it can do at half the price (minus have a top-tier folding stock). I wouldn't feel comfortable paying that much for a 7.62x39 AK.
I did, however, buy an SLR 104. The 104s are the best 5.45 AKs on the market and are well worth every penny.
tldr: if you're ok with paying $1100 for an AK they're fantastic, but if you want to save $500 just buy a WASR, and If you want a 5.45 rifle the SLR 104 is your best bet.
I got one about a month ago, my first AK (buy once cry once for now). Have yet to shoot it but it feels great, light, and durable. Seems easier to field strip/less parts compared to my AR, looks great and the folding stock lock solidly. Very little mag wobble and sights are not canted. Rocking in the mags vs just shoving it in like in an AR is taking a while to get used to though.

and the 74 style brake and front sight base, which is worth a lot to me

That Nano is disgusting, OP. But yes, I used to have one and it is a nice gun.
To be completely honest, if I was going to buy another single stack smaller than my P239, I'd go with the Glock 43. The Nano definitely isn't bad though. I never once had an issue with it in the several thousand rounds I put through it and it was probably the easiest gun to carry and conceal that I have had.
Colt Mustangs are infinitely sexier... and Lehigh Defense makes some extreme .380 ammo.

I had a pair like that, I loved just zipping up quickly. I don't have it at arm's reach though since I'm at work so IDK what one. I wouldn't recommend the pair I got based on it being less insulated vs my original pairs I got in the military. It was good for being based in texas though.
