Why do Pakistan, Israel, France, and India have nukes? North Korea and former soviet states I can understand, but what gives with these guys?

Pakistan got Nukes as deterrence after the humiliating defeat of the first war (Indian soldiers triumphantly marched around Paki cities).
Pakistan realized that it was no match for a convention 1 vs 1 war, so the military decided to enrich some uranium.
India soon responded by making their own. Pakistan and India thus had their own mini Cold War of nuclear deterrence (and they still do to this day.
Israel just wants to fuck my Middle East up, son. Can't blame them because they are surrounded by mortal enemies, including a nuclear power (Iran).

How realistic is marital arts training in the military?
Is it useful and something you could apply in a real life situation, or is it bullshit?

It's useful. It's just bare bones grappling shit. Most hand to hand fights end up on the ground.

I don't think the military teaches that kind of thing. At best you'll get a lesson in lubing your bolt.
The hand-to-hand training I got all seemed pretty practical.
There were two types. Bayonet training, which even without having a bayonet attached is still applicable to hand to hand fighting using a rifle. A muzzle thump to somebody's face is still a good hit.
And the second type was 3 levels of combatives training, which basically boiled down to getting your opponent on the ground as quickly as possible, bewing on top of them, and punching their face into the dirt.

So /k/, as of late, I've become increasingly paranoid. Although I live in a small city (around 10,000) I believe as if we're going to be invaded at some point. There is absolutely nothing of value here, besides the awesome fishing. First step is obviously get my gun licenses and a few guns afterwards but what do I do after that? Do I load up on ammo? Do I create a shelter of some sort? Do I buy gas masks and rations? Any ideas will be appreciated.

I, for whatever reason, expect to see some highly trained force of soldiers (Not Canadian) walking through my town and rounding up everybody.
