If I become very good at drawing on my phone will I be very good with pen and paper?
>>2526570
Essentially yes, though there will be a bit of an adjustment at first as you get used to the difference in tactile feedback
>>2526570
No. Get a sketchbook and a pen. Nothing can replace them.
>>2526570
If I only lift weights will I be able to lift other things? That's how you sound. Progress is made in your brain.
Of course, there's also the technique to master but it's a relatively minor part.
I want to learn zbrush, what am I in for?
Any anons have experience with the program?
Any advice/resources to share?
Found /ic/ to be a good resource learning illustration, but very little info about programs besides PS, and AI. What do?

for some reason, traditional media sculpting goes here, and digital one goes in >>>/3/
also, keep in mind that becoming a decent sculptor is a lifetime effort, so you'll have to decide if you want to abandon the painting path, if you're already into that, or just want to become mediocre at one more thing.
>>2525953
look on youtube for zbrush summit playlist. also /3/ usually have threads about zb.
>>2525953
eat3d have some nice tutorials. I'd recommend Mike Jensen's hard surface techniques 1&2 to get you started and if you want to go more in depth for a full game character production pipeline "Character production" by Mike Pavlovich is good but it's not just focused on zbrush it includes Maya and other software that are needed to make a game asset.
Having good fundamental art skills will make your life a hell of a lot easier so make sure you understand your anatomy and proportions...

Can a pose be dynamic without contrapposto?
>>2521422
You mean as in a standing pose? Of cpurse, there are multiple ways to make a static pose look dynamic. Contraposso is just the most basic; it's literally shifting the opposite sides of weight to balance points. You can still balance a figure through other means.
>>2521433
Sorry, that picture was for the ant artists on this board
>>2521437
mmh i think only 7 in that sheet is not contrapposto
but thanks! it's good reference!
If these people can make it, you can too
>>2490284
Better than 90% of /ic/, but the plot is something straight out of deviant art
What's the point of having good art if the story is trash?
Draw a hand without reference and do not erase. Post results.
Try not to draw your own hand.
>>2526698
sage
>>2526743

produce an image of a Gondolia in less than 10 minutes with a strong use of light and shadow.
Honest question here. Not trying to start anything. Why is /ic/ so against tattoos?
>>2519359
who is /ic/?
>>2519359
Because 99% of the time the person looked better without the tattoos. It's kind of like graffiti on your body, sort of tacky and not really art.
but anyway look how stupid that looks. what's the point? am I supposed to believe you actuallyhave gears inside you? because it doesn't look realistic enough for that to be believable. is it supposed to be funny? how am I supposed to interpret this? if I blur my eyes it just looks like a mess of grey on your chest.
that being said I like some tattoos but too many are all about the concept of the piece and just look like shit if you're just a casual viewer. I like bold designs that go with the flow of the body and actually bring something to it.
Inspired by some of Peter Saul's work

Don't create your own thread, genius.
This should be on /gd/
/ic/ is for ilustrators and painters
>>2526819
>what is sage
What motivates you anon? My problem is that I have too many ideas and all the time in the world, but I'm depressed as fuck.
Just look at good artists to tell yourself "fuck it's no time to procastinate, I want to do something as good as this".
Works for me.
>>2501043
this, my phone background is art by one of my favourites just to remind myself everytime I check that phone that I'm not there yet
Someone explain this "art"
Its un front of the local Art and Culture Musseum.
It's representative of discrimination faced by the gays; it's supposed to show the big bad cishets what it's like to be "separate but equal" or something.
>>2524225
if you can't blind them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit
>>2524225
My take on it is that while gays are discriminated against (in this case with a separate bench) other groups in society are discriminated against even worse. People are pretty aware of the issues with homosexuality and it gets brought up a lot these days, but other groups have it much worse. By making the bench so small they don't even specify which groups these are, so it applies to more things.
It might even be a jab at how gays complain they are discriminated against when they get a full bench and other...

how many more formulaic, shallow, minimalistic disney cartoons do we have to endure before people start realizing that nothing special comes from calarts?
fuck off, hipster. Disney artists are skilled as fuck.
>>2504759
Cory Loftis drew that. He went to Laguna College of Art and Design for two semesters before dropping out.
>>2504791
lol
When is it OK to trace?
>>2508295
Never. Fuck tracing and fuck the retard who made that image.
>>2508295
>needing an aid for a pose this easy let alone tracing
And this faggot still make 1k a week.
I have to rethink my life.
>>2508295
Never, except when you are digitalfag that fell for intuos mene and puts stylus into his ass to get more exposure on furraffinity while dreaming of becoming polish photobasher.
Did a quick sketch of a goblin :p
>>2525687
This ain't shit man, your sketch is a joke. You should package it with a last smoke and six feet of rope.
Competent sketch, now post it in the fucking drawthread you asshole.
Working way out of my comfort zone, trying to break free of the trap of drawing manga style stuff. It's a WIP.
>>2526597
Proportions still look weird. Post your ref.
So what compelled you to think that your WIP warranted its own thread?
