>sentence where I proceeed to call OP a homosexual
There. Now that's out of the way, let's get going

usually studies, sometimes personal work
Yeah, okay. I'm https://instagram.com/picchard/
I mostly mess around with spraypaint and stencils, along with some ink/marker/pencil drawings of pop culture shit. I am shit at freehand spraypainting.
I've only ever used instagram to show shit to friends, so it'd help me to have some actual critique and being told to kill myself on this stuff
What does /ic/ think of Raul Aguirre? He's worked for Disney for over a decade and he's been a part of films like Treasure Planet, and apparently he is one of Glen Keane's last students. He also does the Man vs Art podcast which is pretty decent. I took a look at his portfolio and a lot of the art isn't all that amazing. It's not shit but I don't think it's Disney quality. Do you not have to be that good to get a job at Disney? I'll post some of his art for examples.
old fasioned critique thread
working on my 3rd art show, I have 2 done so far
second painting, i still have a few to go but i have time to do them, i havent even asked the gallery for date yet
Its boring and ugly, all you can do is lines and not even the good kind of lines.
Do something with your own hands, man.
This is not even a painting, a computer could do this.
>>2297672
whats the good kind of lines? cuz i hate curves and color there is not much interesting subjects to do
Does any one know what the LOZ:TP's Twilight aesthetic was based on, or some idea to use for replicating it?
The most I have ever found is the Hyrule Historia saying Minda's OG form is based on Middle Eastern culture.
bump
twilight princess aesthetics are the greatest aesthetics
>>2297401
The Twilight style is pretty far removed from any real type of building, but it's most similar to Babylonian and and Mesoamerican architecture.
>>2297435
I didn't mean the architecture, but this does help a lot.

Are you asking for yourself? What did you do?
Find the biggest, baddest guy in there and suck his cock.
Em I the only one who concidered doing some mild crime to go to a prison for few years?
I mean it feels like it would be the perfect gid-gud enviroment.

Guys when i was 5 years old i figured out how to draw a cube with near perfect perspective. All teachers were amazed because no one ever taught me. It just happened and from there i figured out all perspectice rules within a week or 2. I dont tell people this in real life because i dont like to brag or be an ass. Does anyone know y this happened to me? What does it mean? Am i secretly a genious who shouldve pursued art? Also i just found this book on my book shelf from the 80s. Should i read it or is it outdated?
Lol i mispelled genius
>>2296738
You should read it. You are not a genius cause you didnt pursue art.
>>2296741
I still can tho i just started college and im undeclared major still
Hey fellow artists. Why is it that people here brlieve so deeply in studying loomis? Why does one feel that everyone needs to draw a certian way or learn certian way or have a certian foundation? This whole thing of learning the art like a formula seems wrong. why not learn by just observing and drawing everyday and develop ur own vey unique style with your own very unique foundation?
>>2296694
because the latter is objectively worse and learning proper methods will achieve what the latter is trying to achieve in an exponentially shorter amount of time
>>2296718
I feel like like it takes the love out of art. Theres no need to rush the learning.
The entire purpose of writing down information is so that other people can read it.
The only reason we live in the world we do today with tvs and cars and lightbulbs is because people wrote down what they discovered so that other people can read it rather than spending all that time discovering the thing again.
You can't go around reinventing the wheel.
It would take you well over a lifetime to figure out the human anatomy, how perspective works, how to use colour, etc on your own.
I've been trying Hyper-realistic art for 3 months and this is one of my best works so far. I would love some feedback to make my future works better. Also, someone in school wanted to pay me to do these works and I'm wondering if anyone has experience and can tell me how much these are worth.
>>2296638
I wouldn't consider that hyper realist. That being said, it is actually quite good if you genuinely are the artist and not a troll.
>>2296638
how long did you take to draw this piece OP? A few weeks? A month?
So what exactly are the differences between "photorealism" and "hyperrealism"?
is photorealism just copies of photographs that aren't exact enough to be called hyperrealism? are all photorealists secretly trying to be hyperrealists?
Hey I draw a lot of characters similar to the one pictured.
What does /ic/ think? What can I do to improve the strengths in these images? (Will post more)
Paper and acrylic.
About 3 ft? Maybe.
Sorry some of the files are large.
I guess we all can pretty much agree that Michelangelo is by far the greatest artist who has ever lived, right?
When nature mixes some degree of inner talent, great ambition, neurotic egocentrism, enormous pride, great capacity for work, obsession, physical strength and resistance, all in the same person, the results are truly wonderful.
>>2296133
>Michelangelo is by far the greatest artist
I don't think it's possible to make that claim about ANY artist. He is one of the best, but there is no single best artist, let alone one that is far ahead of others.
Plus tastes change. What you say is the best may not be agreed by people in the future. Hell, for hundreds of years Raphael was considered the greatest Renaissance artist and only in the past 150 years or so did Michelangelo replace him. I mean personally I like...

>Hell, for hundreds of years Raphael was considered the greatest Renaissance artist and only in the past 150 years or so did Michelangelo replace him.
Really? wow...he is not that impressive: only a few of his paintings are really great.
>>2296141
If I remember correctly he was admired for his composition, draftsmanship, and the emotion he put in his figures and images. But yeah his influence was massive, that's why the Pre-Raphaelites came about--they felt people were taking too much from Raphael and rejected that as an aesthetic and standard.
How does sakimichan make so much fucking money
>>2295303
fuck her right in the pussy
>>2295303
She built up a large fanbase over years, has a style that appeals to non-artists, paints characters that have established fanbases and puts softcore pornographic images of these characters behind a paywall. And she hopped on the patreon thing at just the right time.
>>2295303
People pay an amount of money equal to "so much fucking."
You're welcome.
have any of you gone to an MFA program? I know this board skews towards illustration, maybe we can discuss some of those programs too, but I am really curious about the more conceptual programs. Would like to talk rankings and also advice for applying.
just one question to get us started, is some of them have portfolio requirments of various siezes, for example "up to 15 pieces", do you suppose its better to go all the way to 15?
>>2295028
thanks for contributing to the thread. why do you post on an art critique board if you are hostile to the humanities?
How do you guys feel about these ship designs? Which ones stand out?
>>2294204
They all look the same pretty much. Take a step back and work only with silhouette and try to get different shapes for each design.
Like >>2294207 they're pretty monotone
This might help you find new forms you wouldn't otherwise have thought of.

Design language seems to be really consistent across all designs- if this is what You were going for, then good job. If You asked me, I don't really like that design too much, don't ask me to elaborate though- I find design to be very difficult to discuss, since there is no mathematical formula (the closest You can get is 25% of the form should be busy and rest should let Your eye rest, but I never cared for that rule either). Presentation wise- Your perspective seems to be correct for the most time, however...
