I wouldn't know but the use of illustrations in Japan are quite diverse.
Like a sign that warns people of "Under Construction" could have a anime/manga/original character illustration.
Or blood donation drives(like that image).

Illustrations in Japan are used in different products and services. Though I don't know the wage of these artists for these illustrations.

Hello /ic/ common lurker here. I've been attempting to draw loomis style heads. It's not clicking for me, here's a picture.
In short what i'm getting at here are there any other methods to drawing heads that helped you guys out? I understand turning complex forms into simple shapes, I just have immense trouble with the human head.
Is there any software that I can tell it what I want and it draws the picture for me?

Hi /ic/, is Loomis really a meme? No trolling here, I've been on his FWAP but several people have told it's literally a meme. I'm not very sure whether to proceed on this book, so is it really a meme?

fwap is good stuff, I think his figure stuff is over rated, a bit too rigid but fwap is great for teaching you basic construction. It's a pretty short book anyway so you may as well just do it.

It's only a meme in the sense it gets automatically recommended to beginner in every situation. It's a set of solid books that are considered classics and it was a big deal when they got reprinted a few years back because before that they were out of print and overly expensive, and people would be forced to share illegal digital copies.
Anyways, there's good info in them, but I think some of his material is better suited for intermediate artists than true beginners. I also think his stuff either "clicks" or it doesn't. Some people swear by him, but others it doesn't work. Personally I had a lot more success with understanding figure drawing when I abandoned Loomis and used Bridgman instead. Try stuff out, see what works for you.
I was wondering if the Charles Barque drawing course is a good thing to attempt if you wanna get better at understanding drawing.

How do I set up my intuos 4 for best results?
So far I've downloaded the main driver and have the default settings. It seems to be currently mapped 1:1 with my screen, which feels somewhat unnatural.
is it the case that default settings are already as good as it gets, and that it's a matter of adapting?
