Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/4YDuzW77 (needs updated)

working on update, have about 1 week before some new computer parts arrive, and got sone new shit to play with from christmas, so yea... pastebin may be updated/corrected/whatever by the time of next thread, if people know what the "needs update" specifically means, be my guest to post something that needs to be added, minor grammar corrections are already happening.

with that said, going to be going through the previous thread now.

How do do I build a visual library? How should I approach the studies?

to be fair, most signatures only look like the name once you already know the name, i may have been able to figure out steve, but that last name... not a fucking chance.

repetition and iteration, dont skip days always draw something.

>>2317710
whenever you want really, if you are parinoid get a protective surface

>>2317775
commit to one abstraction method and learn that good first, only read and learn in that method till its something you know without looking, then look at other methods and see what you can take from them... all abstraction tries to get you to the same place in the end, so learning a fuck ton really just puts you at a disadvantage.

>>2317852
anatomy books, along with an abstraction of the hand.

>>2317939
for one, learn an abstraction, and fit the abstraction to the pose, the more you know about anatomy the easier it is to create something real from your mind.

for 2, i would say stick with sketches till you no longer see flaws, no reason to polish shit when you can still learn fast through repetition.

>>2317942
because you aren't trying to make it good, so you aren't actively looking for every single flaw... hard to explain but lets say you are drawing circles, if you purposefully try to draw a circle you will likely see all the flaws but if you are dicking around and draw the same circle it wont look half bad.

>>2318065
there is a bob ross channel on youtube,

you likely wont find something free that's worth looking at in its entirety, just buts and pieces here and there.

OH one more thing, when i do the massive dumps/answers and you reply, can you specify which part you are replying to, makes it a lot easier to go forward/know what i helped you with.

Do I have any sort of talent? Should I keep practicing or just try something else? Sketch in photoshop, 45 minutes to one hour.

Talent doesn't exist, faggot.

And if you have to ask should you keep practicing, then the answer is: no, try something else.
You clearly don't have enough passion for painting to master it.
>>
>>2336915
>Do I have any sort of talent

no. but don't worry neither does anybody else.

>Should I keep practicing or just try something else?

how the fuck am i supposed to know

>Talent doesn't exist, faggot.

nice meme

Lack of talent isn't an excuse and can be overcome, but pretending like certain people don't have predispositions to skills is retarded.

Hello, I am new here. By looking at my latest digital painting what would your honest thoughts and opinions be? I don't share my work really because I dislike everything I create having seen true masters work all the time in my feeds. Would you say I have potential as any sort of entertainment artist? From this piece what field of digital art should I focus on? I.e graphic novels, concept art, illustration ect.. I am in a limbo for direction for my portfolio. Please be a hero and help me a lost soul just painting everyday like a curse. Most importantly do I have potential or am I living a false hope? Much love be brutal. Sorry for bad grammar.

I'm looking to learn how to work with colour, and to understand the colour wheel, which colours work with each other etc. Is ctrl paint a good source for this kind of knowledge or is there something better?

Go to the book thread and download gurneys color and light and gnomon workshop on color (in the pastebin link there's a mega library). Theres also a course by betty edwards as well in there. All of those together are pretty comprehensive for what you need to know.
>>
>>2332020
for practice, I found out that studying pixel art was the simplest way of learning about color, it's quite easy to switch and most people actually plan their palettes in a limited fashion
>>
Also, can you follow these tutorial videos using clip/manga studio? Or do you really need photoshop?

Another example by Zedig, I think the results look great.
>>
Well, if you can do the harder way, it'll obviously improve your results when you have more resources to work with.

Be able to block in form and blend colors with 100% opacity is extremely hard.

>>2335058
>100% opacity
so like not in the picture you posted

Hello /ic/, please help me improve my art. this iss kinda a work in progress, but i guess it's one of my favorites so far. i'm not really focusing on realism, but if you have some good ideas, post them down below, and feel free to paint over this drawing!

What are you trying to do here? Like it's got stylized proportions, but they don't really seem to be for any reason. You've got a female face with a super manly jaw, then put it on a pencil thin neck. The orange backlighting is inconsistent too, and the structure of the neck and shoulders is not really defined well.

I feel like you are jumping ahead of yourself here by painting in tiny details with a one pixel brush into the eyeballs and using a speckle brush to texture the skin pores and stuff. Why are you doing this last layer detail when you haven't even figured out the bigger things in the image like the general lighting and stylization choices? The shapes and edges are sloppy, the structure is strange, things are inconsistent, and you are focusing on pores. Get the thumbnail to look good before working about small detail.
>>
>He caught the Sycra
>>
I know it's on purpose, but that jaw looks goddamn ridiculous.
I think it'd look nice if you toned that down a little (/ a lot).

Just draw and be critical about it. Fuck Loomis or abstraction/construction methods in general.

>>2333796
>implying you can be critical of something if you don't know what's wrong with it to begin with.

Fuck off retard.

First we have to analyze her form. Post nudes so we can tell you how to draw her.

What are your thoughts about it? also tutorials plz

shilled hard by people who think that software matters at beginner level
>>
>>2335771
default real 2b pencil is GREAT if you have tilt sensitivity (intuos pro). closer to the real thing than anything else i've seen.

other than that, i don't really like it much. you better forget about it and learn to use photoshop properly.

The first chapter is one of the best introductions to observational drawing that I know. Unfortunately a couple of editions ago she decided to add a host of ridiculous tools into the book's curriculum and it's simply not worth it in my opinion.
