Is art for anyone else here extremely mentally straining too?
I love drawing but I need to be in peak mental and physical condition to even construct something as simple as a face.
Am I the only one with this problem?
I've been drawing for years now, read loomis when I was a kid, but still the entire process is hard as fuck for me.

Depends on what part of the drawing I'm doing. Now and then certain parts will fuck my brain pretty hard, especially things I've not done much, but usually for me the process of painting and rendering is pretty mindless and comfy.
>>
Some people say reading a book helps you take in all that information when it gets stressful.

Personally me i like drawing cartoons or watch movies to let go, but its probably different for everyone.

For me it's constructing perspective.
That fucks my brain up hardcore.

How do I draw juicy round booty like this?

Add highlights

nah man, that's not it. There has to be a secret to constructing them. It would still be juicy and round without highlights.
Stop thinking in symbols.

The secret is to add a dash of salt.

To all Irish anons readind this, lemme give you some advice.

Do you wanna learn how to Draw? Then go and do CDS (ANIMATION DRAWING STUDIES) in BCFE.

I recently did the course and its pure drawing, no bullshit like NCAD or anything, and they have amazing teachers, that I will tell you about.

Paula jane Shuter - Knows everything about figure drawing, never has a problem giving harsh criticism, knows exactly what shes doing

John Molloy - Photographer and film history fanatic, he is literally obsessed with film and photgaphy and will have no problem teaching you everything about film history and animation history since he is a master.

Mark Byrne - Mark has worked on many animated films and is amazing at background art, he also gives harsh criticism and teaches the best perspective classes i've found in ireland

Eddie and Martin - Animation experts, worked in animation for 20+ years

The reason I made this thread is because it is one ofthe few schools teaching proper drawing without interpretive shit. It has taught me a lot even tho i didn't like animation at the start of the course.

What does /ic/ listen to when they draw?

I've been listening to Stone Temple Pilots recently. Yesterday I was listening to their Tiny Music album.

Podcasts or interviews. Sometimes some sort of music, but nothing too distracting. If I need to concentrate I'll work in silence.

I also listen to his dad fucking his little sister in the other room.

>you will never be this passionate about something

How do they do it, bros? How do they just throw themselves at one thing and try so hard to excel at it? Why are we so hard pressed to do the same thing, those of us with no passions?

>30 years worth of legacy stripped away
>kicked out of the company that you helped built
>starting again from zero

Mental conditioning and focus. Set what you want to do, and do it. It's about keeping consistency until it becomes a part of you I guess.

>that feel my nigga Shinkawa is still kicking too
>>
>>2318098
You're retarded bro. if you think someone like Kojima is starting from zero. That 30 years of successful game making will allow him to do anything he wants.
>>
>>2318101
Fuck you. I know it's not ZERO zero. I know he has the backing of Sony and also his own name to work on. I meant that he will need to create new IPs, and having to let go of series that he has worked years on, and start working new ideas from scratch.

I also wonder what happened to Fox Engine now that it has turned out this way.

I have a drawing pad (Ugee) and Krita. Is it OK to start with this or should I simply stick to pencil drawing?

Should I simply stick to doing various exercises or should I just draw whatever is on my mind? I'd like to make steady progress but want to avoid getting bored in the process.

Thanks for any tips.

Do both.
I started digitally and when I decided to go back to traditional for a while I started retaining things a lot quicker, because I actually cared if I fucked up since it was harder to fix. But that doesn't mean you can never do digital.
>>
you will never be good at drawing, quit now
>>
>>2328773

Also "do both" applies to exercises vs drawing what's on your mind too. Do personal projects, but learn your fundamentals. You can always apply what you've learned to the things you want to do.

What does /ic/ think about having a Discord server for the board?

Really dont see a reason why to have it.
I mean we csn share pics and chat here already.
