I wouldn't actually call it love. But I know what it means when people say that. When I cook for people I care about I do everything I can to make it as amazing as possible, no matter how tedious or fussy.
It doesn't really refer to anything other than a sense of nostalgia people get for eating food that reminds them of the food they grew up with.
Usually that means it's made by hand, but not necessarily given any real care in the preparation - it's just the kind of meal that a grandma has thoughtlessly thrown together for half a century.
Best beef jerky. Nice, tender, thick cuts. Not tough and hard plastic sheets like Jack Link or most other brands. The flavors aren't as sweet as other ones.
Every time I buy beef jerky I eat the whole fucking bag in an hour and have the most disgusting farts all day the next day. I tend to avoid it.

Skinny bachelor here. Came out of a poor family, ate shit growing up, mother couldn't cook to save her life. Now I'm living on my own with a good income, and have no idea where even to begin with good meals and serving sizes, which is further complicated by my IBS.

The one on the top is Yin-Yang fried rice, which is topped with shrimps in egg-white sauce and chicken in tomato sauce. It's an old Hong Kong/Chinese standby that I've enjoyed on many occasions.
The one on the bottom is less easy to identify, since there are a LOT of fried pastry dishes in Chinese cuisine. Looking at the menu of the restaurant that made these dishes (Peking Man, North York, Canada), I'd hazard a guess that that's their take on a spring roll.
