What are some good signs that something you're reading or watching on the Paranormal is going to be loaded down with wishy-washy New Age bullshit? I'm trying to make a list of things to avoid. Things like:
>energy
>vibration
>quantum
>Atlantis
Keep in mind I'm not talking about talking about all supernatural terms (I am not entirely sure about "energy" just because of how pervasive it is), just the ones who have been filtered through New Age and come out sounding like bullshit appropriated to sound either mystical or scientific.

Lets say that one day I come across a spook. Like a ghost, or a demon, or maybe even a skinwalker. Like, I find myself in that situation.

How does one protect themselves from the paranormal?

Lately I've been investigating about comparative mythology and watching some documentaries such as Zeitgeist and the cult of Saturn which (while inaccurate in many aspects) are very thought provoking. Since then I've been obsessed about the primitive origins of all religions; specifically modern ones.
I know that you guys are knowledgeable and you will provide some interesting insights; that's why I'd like to discuss this with you. The apparent astronomical origins of all religions, the connections between christianity and old pagan cults, the relationship between the figure of Lucifer (the light bearer) and Prometheus, the hidden meanings of symbols, numbers and rituals and the figure of Baphomet and it's appearance in many different cultures (Of course taking different shapes) and it's importance in the occult.
Whatever information, pictures, documentaries that you may provide will be very useful.

There isn't much of a connection, really. Christianity began as a sect of Judaism.

In case I wasn't clear enough, I'm talking about the apparent relationship between the figures of Jesus and Horus. Also Mary-Isis and their connection with other figures realted to the moon and fertility. The common traits shared by most religions; the similarities between them and the influence of early astronomy and it's elements (Such as constellations, equinoxes, solstices, ages and planets).
By the way, I do know that Horus wasn't born in december 25th and that he wasn't baptized or anything. But he was conceived spiritually, he descends to the underworld (Which is another element that many mythologies share). Many figures like Mithra, Perseus, Horus, Krishna, Buddha, Dionysus have miraculous births and many others have descended to the underworld (Opheus, Jesus, Hercules, Horus. Descending to the underworld is one of the common elements of the archetypical Journey of the hero)

If you haven't watched Zeitgeist you probably don't know what I mean. I wouldn't advise you to watch it since it is misleading. But it does point out to some interesting ideas which are that the constellations (Virgo, Crux, Orion's Belt, etc) and the solstices are the origin of Jesus' legend. Basically, He was born of a virgin (Virgo) he was worshipped by three kings (Orion's belt), he had twelve disciples (The twelve signs of the zodiac) he died on the cross (Souther Cross) and he died for three days (Winter Solstice). These traits are shared by many religions and although the greek had explanations for the origin of the constellations, an early civilzation could have created their myths based on what they saw in the sky.
>Lucifer is the light bearer, and sacrificed himself for humanity when he tempted Eve to eat the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Knowledge is commonly refered to as Light (think of Enlightenment). Prometheus brought the fire to the human race (Again, a source of light) and for that he was punished.
Also the myth of the fire bearer is present in lots of cultures, even South American ones, where they believed that the jaguar had kept fire a secret and it was stolen by humans (which is why jaguars are hostile to us.)

Baphomet didn't appear the way we know it. If you watch the cult of Saturn, you'll know that he's related to dual deities, particularly moon deities which are represented as both male and female.

The cross comes from the celtic cross (According to Zeitgeist it's origin is in the zodiac. the wheel represents the year and the cross is the solstices and equinoxes). The fish associated with Jesus comes from a pagan fertility symbol which represents a vulva. The star of David, as explained in the cult of Saturn, represents duality, the number 666 and is derived from the natural hexagon found in that planet

About Unconditional Love:
I believe there's a level of reality that connects us all - everyone and everything, from the most complicated living beings to the simplest and smallest grain of sand.
I call this (Unconditional) Love.
But there are so many names of this "something": God, Tao, and maybe there are scientific theories about it, too.
Some Anons said that I shouldn't call it Love, because this can cause misunderstandings, and while they're absolutely right, I thought it's a good idea to tell You about this belief.

I believe mankind is special, because we understand the inter-connectedness of this world and when we feel whole, happy and healthy we, in fact, feel this Love; it empowers us.
This is very interesting. Probably one of the most informative and circumstantial documents ever created: The Emerald Tablets. Keep in mind that these tablets have been dated to be around 50,000 years old. This ties in with the ancient astronaut theory because it's very out of place and it holds very shocking secrets about our ancient origins. Now what I'm about to do is list/quote some of the things in the LITERAL TRANSLATION of the Emerald Tablets of Thoth. Here we go. According to the Emerald Tablets (cont. on next post):
1. The writer is Thoth, an Atlantean Priest/King who lived around 50,000 years ago in the city of Keor on the island of Undal at the same time that other alien races were living on the planet (example would be the kings listed in the Sumerian king list because they reigned for thousands of years ).
2. Thoth wrote down his experiences, assignments, and aspirations (keep that in mind).
3. After the sinking of Atlantis, he founded a colony in Ancient Egypt.
4. Thoth ruled over Egypt for 16,000 years from 52,000 B.C to 36,000 B.C. At that time, the ancient race among which he and his followers had settled had been raised to a high degree of civilization.
5. He was responsible for building the Great Pyramid of Giza which took 20 years (unheard of for humans to do it even with modern tech).

9. Also to point out, the Emerald Tablets were formed from a substance created through alchemical transmutation.They are imperishable, resistant to all elements and substances. In effect, the atomic and cellular structure is fixed, no change ever taking place. In this respect, they violate the material law of ionization. Upon them are engraved characters in the ancient Atlantean language: characters which respond to attuned thought waves, releasing the associated mental vibration in the mind of the reader. It also holds the key for spiritual immortality and knowing the cosmic keys/laws of the universe.
10. When the time came for him to leave Egypt, he erected the Great Pyramid over the entrance to the Great Halls of Amenti, placed in it his records, and appointed guards for his secrets from among the highest of his people.
The last two tablets are so great and far-reaching in their importance that at present it is forbidden to release them to the world at large.

Especially the footage with that constant VHS drone, or the low quality. Why does that make it more creepy?
I think it's because we're all so familiar with VHS tapes.
We've all operated a camcorder or at least a VCR.
People recorded memories on them that'll last for their entire lifetimes.
So when you see someone have some scary shit on a VHS tape, you associate it with your own experiences and reality.
Same reason why old, dusty, cobwebby rooms make it scarier, I guess. There's something quaint about it, outdated and out of place.
Plus, there's probably the influence of The Ring.

Hey /x/ I don't usually post here but I saw something could classify as paranormal. I was driving on highway 65 through Alabama, and I saw a billboard. It was white with black lettering that said "Who is anon and why is he here". I tried to find it online and couldn't find anything. Any ideas as to what I might have encountered?

In the past when I've been near a large geode, anything say an arm's width or more, I get this strong sense of... "wind" I guess you'd call it.
Anyway I don't normally think twice about it but last night I had this weird dream...

bump for curiosity, I'm very fond to my crystals and rocks. My favorite one now is a small amethyst cluster I bought in Cusco, Peru. Mostly when I focus on them while meditating or exercising while holding them I can feel vibrations from them.. From my personal experience, once I was high on mushrooms holding a serpentine egg and was exercising my muscles, and I felt energy flowing between me and the egg, which I've had since I was a kid.
