Story time. My mother just said the weirdest fucking thing. She's been in a mood recently, but I think this really crosses the line into "wat" territory. Pic is related, not mother, but you'll see why it's related.
This is either a really interesting mystery, or she's finally lost every single marble she's ever had.

Has /x/ ever encountered this phenomenon? Specifically, driving into a town or place one would expect to find a large amount of humans only to find none at all. I had this happen a few years ago when I went with my family to Hawthorne, Nevada. It was a Saturday afternoon and the town had a population of 3,000 people which is small but surely one would see a single person. We were looking for restrooms, the McDonald's was closed, the stores were closed, the casino was closed, the hotels were closed. We settled on using public restrooms in a park we had found. The women's restroom had shit smeared everywhere, even the doorknob on the other side, it was absolutely disgusting and I'm glad nobody touched it. The men's room was a good bit better but still very unclean but we all used it. After we finished we returned to the car. Music started playing from the speakers around town and we gunned it all the way out of town and didn't slow down for 20 miles. There weren't even other cars on the road. It's like the entire town decided to play a prank on us.
What the fuck happened?
Also the town is completely surrounded by military bunkers, storehouses, and minefields if that helps. Not a soldier in sight.

It's a military town.
90% of the males who live there are enlisted, while the women and children run the shops and whatnot.
The town was most likely going through a drill.
I've ran into a few of these in Washington and Oregon, it is indeed very unsettling to be in a town and not be able to find another person.

I read that starting out with just chaos magic will be detrimental to one's magical progression. That is, one should have a basis in smth else before.

Nah, fuck it. But the deal with chaos magic is, it often borrows a shit ton from other systems, often in the form of something called a "paradigm."
I.e. for whatever time being, you aren't a chaos magician, you aren't Alex Perez (or whatever the fuck your name is), you ARE a wiccan doing super leet goddess earth magics (just an example).
But the real power with chaos magic, comes from the fusing and moulding of paradigms, as well as the creation of new ones. Namely, chaos magic's primary goal is strip all the gobbledygook bull shit and look at the bones and organs of a system. Figure out what you like about it, and rip that part out. Do this with other systems and paradigms. By the time you're done, you'll have your own magic mother fucking frankenstein.
Once you've worked with that system for awhile, find a new one. Replace this organ with that one.
Chaos magic is flexibility, fluidity, and intuition. So while I can definitely see the advantages of being familiar with other esoteric systems, it's not at all requirement. The point of chaos magic is results, and if you can get results, then fuck whoever says you can't do something.

Moved to Arizona, bumfuck nowhere, southeast of Phoenix area 3 years ago. I just went outside for a smoke and watched a UFO for about 10 mins. I see this shit all the fucking time. Like, I know how stars can look like they're shimmering sometimes, but this is a legitimate rapid flashing sequence of colors, bright as fuck, way brighter than any stars you can see and you see the stars pretty well anyways out here. They move, and I understand the whole 'when you're looking at something from a distance it sometimes appears to move'. No this shit moves, slow, fast, sometimes moves far before stopping, sometimes little bursts, zig zags, circles, I've seen one of these fuckers jump short distance. I've been told that there is a military testing base somewhat in the area, not sure on legitness of that but, what kind of secret military testing involves rapidly flashing lights? Just pisses me off. I fucking see shit I cannot rationally explain. They're here is really all I wanted to let you guys know. Obviously no fucking clue why, to what degree, or what purpose. But they are not worried about us knowing, it's not in the dark at all. I just want to know what to fucking belive in aliens, because I see this shit, it scares me honestly.

As long as they don't decide to go full on exterminatus or strip mine the entire planet down to its core I would like to think that humanity as a species are quite resilient. Also, look at our sheer numbers, if we where invaded and I don't think we'd be fully eradicated. Perhaps every major civilization would fall but there would probably be pockets of humans scattered on remote locations all around the planet, at least our genetic legacy would survive in that scenario.
