I've never beaten him and Emerald, but I'm pretty sure most people just use one of the many ways to cheese them and win with no effort. Just linking Final Attack to Revive or Phoenix is absurdly broken on its own.
If I ever do try to beat them I'll do it the hard way though, no cheap tricks. But I have no idea how that would work.

I did and I loved it. It's sadly overshadowed by Half-Life and Quake 2 but I think it's definitely one of the most notable and important, and most fun, PC FPS of the late 90s.
