What's the last big fighting game that tried something new? Why did the entire genre collectively decide to just copy street fighter 2 or marvel vs. capcom 2? I don't think any other genre has a 25 year history while changing literally nothing about the core gameplay.

What exactly is it about Blood Money that people like so much? I've never seen any threads talking about the first three Hitman games, and I've only ever seen hatred/indifference for Absolution.

It wasn't perfect, but the missions were basically "kill this guy" and either make it look like an accident, or do it however you want. That's it, no other dorection. So the levels were puzzles that you had to figure out for yourself, with many ways to complete. There were no spidey-sense hints, no popup tips, just your own exploration and trial and error...y'know...a game.
